Sitting in traffic was never so much fun! The audio version of this book was just hilarious, and the narrator had all the right stuff to keep me engaged. The stories themselves are so amusing, I didn't want to actually get to my destination! This author has a knack for sharing her true stories, almost like meeting up with a long-time friend you haven't seen for a while and catching up over a meal or drinks. I laughed to the point of crying a few times, and I'd definitely pick this one up again when I ever need a good chuckle.
5 stars =)

Sexy shapeshifting gargoyle boys! Count me in!
I was initially confused because this one jumps right into the story. Turns out it's a spin-off, so that explains a lot.
It started of a little slow but once the action starts it doesn't really let up.
I really liked Trinity. She could have easily been an obnoxious Chosen One type but the book managed to avoid that.
Also Trinity is disabled which I appreciate so much as a disabled woman. Every bit of representation matters and I love the matter of fact way a degenerative disease is s dealt with.

Wow. I have literally just finished reading this and I'm impressed.
In a way it reminded me of Richelle Mead's "Georgina Kincaid" series with the succubus and not wanting to sleep with the good guy but in other ways it didn't.
The storyline was both interesting and fun and I found myself needing to keep reading so I could find out who was killing the other succubi and I have to admit I wasn't disappointed--though I did guess half right.
I enjoyed it enough to keep reading the series and will look forward to the next book when it is released later in the year.

Whatchareadin (174 KP) rated China Rich Girlfriend (Crazy Rich Asians #2) in Books

I'm upset that I didn't know that this was a sequel. I would have read the first book as well. I am definitely going to go back and do that and I hear there is a third book in the works called Rich People Problems which I also look forward to reading.
This book is based on a number of very rich Asians located all over the world. The main focus of the book is about Rachel Chu. Rachel is about to marry Nicholas Young, but feels like there is one last thing she has to accomplish before hand, finding her biological father. It has been her mission most of her life. Then an incredible thing happens on the night before the wedding, during the rehearsal that will send Rachel and Nick on a world wide tour to find the father she never knew. With stops in Shanghai and Paris, Rachel meets some the wealthiest in Asia. Her new husband being heir to one of these families. She gets to meet some of her new family and and lots of very influential people in the Asian community. When tragedy strikes, Rachel and Nick are unsure of who to trust in this elaborate group, but time will reveal the truth and they will find out if the family Rachel has been searching for was worth finding.

Nicole Hadley (380 KP) rated New Beginnings in Books
Jun 18, 2018
New Beginnings by Rebecca Emin is a book about a girl named Sam Hendry who faces bullying at her new school. The subject of this book that is carefully dealt with is bullying. Bullying is a problem that many students face today. This book also deals with the everyday life of a soon-to-be teenager.
Sam is a girl who is about to leave her primary school and friends to start at a new school. At the new school Sam does not know anyone there. Sam wants to stay at her primary school where she feel comfortable. She does not want to have to find new friends, but she does not have a choice. Even worse, at the new school Sam is the target by the bully of the school. Life does not seem to be going well for Sam but luckily she finds friends. She joins the drama club where she is able to express herself and nurture her talents.
Sam’s life involves her friends, talent, interests and first crush. The plot line effectively covers it all. It was refreshing to read about life through innocent eyes. I wish the author had given the reader a more indepth look at the lives of the different characters. I enjoyed reading this innocent story.
I give this book 4/5 stars.

Kristin (149 KP) rated The Book of Paul in Books
Dec 7, 2018
Disclaimer: I received an e-copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.
The Book of Paul is a story told my multiple viewpoints, sometimes in first person, sometimes in third, between the characters of Paul, Martin, and William (the narrator), with a little bit of Rose's story thrown in occasionally. From the very beginning, I was definitely intrigued, as it's just a different kind of book from what I normally read, but in a good way. Once some of the paranormal aspects came in, along with the lineage back to certain historical characters, it definitely kept my attention. However, it is a very long book (which is no problem for me), so there were times where I had to just set it down for a little bit and get a grip on what I'd just finished.
Honestly, I liked this book. I found it a little weird at times, a little hard to wrap my head around, but for the most part, I enjoyed reading it. I would recommend it to those who like a little history, a little religion, and a lot of paranormal and action. For me, it's not a book I could've read in one sitting, but I definitely would've read a lot faster if I hadn't had to work. It's definitely an interesting story, and I want to continue the 7-volume series when I have a little more time. =)

I received this book for free from Publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
I always have a thing for books related to hacking (or if the main character is a hacker). But while Ignite the Shadows certainly isn't about hacking (it only plays a minor part to the story), I still enjoyed the book regardless and the world Seymour builds. Ignite the Shadows is almost like a combination of the first and second book in a typical dystopian trilogy, which makes it stand out.
Plus, an infection is involved, and it's just really cool how those infected by sentient parasites can take advantage and develop superpowers - very similar to I Am Number Four in my opinion. Trying to get used to those parasites in a symbiotic relationship is definitely going to be a struggle for Marci continuing through the second book, but I think it'll be an adventure to see what Marci comes up with.
Ignite the Shadows is fast paced and intriguing - I have high hopes for this series despite the power similarities to I Am Number Four.

Merissa (12055 KP) rated A Matcha Made in Hell (Boyfriend Café #1) in Books
Sep 13, 2023
A MATCHA MADE IN HELL is the first book in the Boyfriend Café series. Rhett is working hard for his Engineering degree, determined to put his High School behind him with all the associated memories. Easier said than done when his High School nemesis, Spencer Marsh, turns up at the same university.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! The storyline of the reason behind the Café is sweet and I can absolutely see a need for it! I love how Albert is a not-so-silent Partner for Rhett's idea and also backs him whenever he can. The group of guys who work in the Café are all brilliant and I can't wait for their stories.
Back to Rhett and Spencer though - oh, man! These two!! Spencer's behaviour is understandable, as is his guilt for it. I liked the power exchange as Spencer and Rhett worked through their issues. However, being the sap I am, I did prefer it once 'something changed' and it became a healthier relationship.
This was a great story and a wonderful introduction to the series. I look forward to reading more and have no hesitation in recommending this book.
