Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Dance For Me (Fenbrook Academy, #1) in Books
Jan 7, 2021
This is about Natasha, a dancer–-ballet being her favourite–-who goes to an audition for a role in an advert but gets distracted during the audition by someone running into the room. Darrell, the distractor, is captivated by her and the ballet she performs and asks her to dance for him as his muse so he can figure out a way to make his latest project work.
Darrell was rather intriguing from the start and I liked how we saw him from Natasha’s POV first before seeing how he came to be at the audition from his own POV.
Helena must have done ballet at some point or this is one really well researched book.
Several chapters had me wanting to look online at the moves Natasha was performing with how well they were written; how beautiful it all sounded. Maybe it was Natasha’s feelings at those points in the book that made them seem so charged and captivating. And this coming from someone who has never had an interest in ballet.
I liked Clarissa. And Neil. And Jasmine. I liked everything!
Would recommend you read this if you like a nice love story. It certainly had me captivated from early on.

Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated The V Girl: A Coming Of Age Story in Books
Jan 11, 2021
2.5 stars.
It was all rather dark and sexually violent--and not in the good way of dark romances.
I loved the romance aspect of it, the one between Lila/Lily and Aleksy. It was so sweet at times! The other bits just seemed too much for me after a while. The way she wanted to not be the V-Girl but how she was determined it was to be taken by someone she cared about--Rey--only he wasn't entirely receptive to the idea. And then having that same thought process again and again. I kinda wanted to hit her a little when she couldn't make her mind up between the two guys.
It was the rest of the storyline I didn't really gel with. There was always a lot going on, most of it dark and violent. Some of it was political, most of it sex-related. Lots of sex related things happening in this.
Anyway, the reason I requested this book was down to the cover and the description. That is one amazing cover! And the description was pretty promising but at the risk of repeating myself, it was a little too dark for my tastes in its topics.

Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated The Bachelor Auction (The Bachelors of Arizona, #1) in Books
Jan 11, 2021
This is my first contemporary romance by the author where the characters weren't NA age.
I did enjoy this story. It took me a while to get into it at the start but by the end I think I loved pretty much all the Wellington family. It's a retelling of Cinderella in parts; evil sisters, glass slippers... but much more modern with manwhore brothers and some swearing
liked the characters. The twins grew on me so much throughout this book. They seemed so annoying at the beginning but by the end... *sigh* If their stories are going to be the next books in this series, then sign me up please because I am so intrigued after the auction.
Brock was a bit of a mystery when he was at the house, I couldn't really figure him out until he'd sorted out his demons and then I really started to like him.
Jane, I felt sorry for at the start. She was trying to uphold her fathers wishes and being treated like dirt in the process. She grew a lot in the book.
The ending was great. Everyone but the twins ended up happy, though I'm sure the twins' issues will be resolved in their own stories.

What happens if, at thirteen, you wake up and all the adults from your village have disappeared? What happens if you are suddenly surrounded by a thick, dense, immoveable fog? Is it there to keep you in... or others out?
This is the riddle that Sophia and the rest of the children are faced with early one morning. Then time skips on and you meet Tressa, Sophia's granddaughter. She is someone who has had to deal with the blows in her life and this means that she is not one to cower down and hide behind someone else.
Something is changing in the village and it is Tressa's turn to venture outside. Those who have gone before have never been seen or heard from. Once Tressa steps into the fog, all bets are off and she has to think on her feet.
There are twists and turns aplenty in this book with well described and believable characters for the most part. The one that I couldn't exactly gel with Henry but he was only a bit-part anyway. If you like the more mature fantasy then I think you will really enjoy this one. Definitely recommended.

Midge (525 KP) rated The Couple in Books
Feb 12, 2019 (Updated Feb 14, 2019)
The characters were very difficult to warm to, especially the main character Claire, who became rather irritating, annoying and dis-likeable during the story.
Claire, who works for the Immigration Service is newly engaged after a whirlwind romance. Her fiance, Angus, is a hotel entrepreneur and they are looking to buy their perfect home together. When Claire views a house and meets Mark, the fellow who is selling the house, she finds that he resembles a former lover, a man for whom she still has feelings. Claire is drawn to him and Angus starts to behave very suspiciously, but can Claire trust either of them or herself?
For me, Sarah Mitchell’s writing is captivating and extremely well structured. This book is full of twists and turns and I really enjoyed it. The novel moved along at an intense speed and I loved how dark and twisted it was. The character development was brilliant and apart from most of the characters themselves, I liked everything about this book. THE COUPLE held my interest from start to finish and the way in which Sarah Mitchell brought everything to a conclusion was just fabulous. I loved it and it has left me eager to read more from this author.
I would recommend THE COUPLE to anyone who likes this genre.
Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and Sarah Mitchell for a free ARC of this book in exchange for a voluntary, honest review.
