This is the second book in this series by this author. This is a story about a single dad falling in love. You will fall in love with the characters as you read. This book has lots of romance with some well placed suspense to keep you reading. A fantastic holiday/beach read book. I can't wait to read more from this author in the future.
Highly recommended

Seen as they’ve just added The Dark Tower on Sky Cinema, i felt the need to share this. By far one of the worst adaptations I’ve ever seen, of an absolutely epic book series. Just dire.

Stephen King let them make this?
I'll start off by saying I knew I was going to hate this film. From the moment I heard of the casting and then saw the first trailer. I get the justification for them making this film completely different (i.e. Horn of Eld - but was that even in the film?!), but for me it just doesn't work.

The book series is a fantasy masterpiece, but they appear to have made a standalone Dark Tower film pulled together with a vague mishmash of characters and ideas from the entire book series. It just doesn't work, especially not in a paltry 90 minutes. This is just far too different from the books - the characters are undeveloped, their motives are unclear. You almost have to have read the books to get an understanding of the characters as it just doesn't come across in this. Casting for me was poor too. McConaughey and Elba are fantastic actors but it doesn't show in this, they're let down by a poor script and a poor plot.

My only hope for this film is that it prompts those who haven't read the books to pick them up and realise how awesome they are.

Quite a fun introduction to the series

This had its fun moments and some crazy stuff too, but I liked it and wouldn't mind seeing where it goes next, and luckily, I have the next book.

This book had a really good idea for a story line. Ultimately I did enjoy it, however i will not be continuing with the series as i think the writing is aimed at a younger audience.

GIFT OF FIRE is the first book in the Elemental Bloodlines series. As the first in a series, it has to lay a lot of groundwork and answer a lot of questions. I think this worked easily enough and I was able to follow, understand, and enjoy the different magic of the Teuton way.

I also loved that it was set in Erlangen, about a 3-hour drive away from my home. Having a fantasy and/or romance series set in Germany puts this in the minority but, to me, also makes it stand out.

There are lots of secrets in this book and lots of hints of what might be coming. I was so pleased for Bianca but I really hope Nicole gets her comeuppance! Time flows quickly in this book and, sometimes, that made it hard to keep up.

All of the characters in this book are really well-written, and it doesn't matter if you like or loathe them. A great start to the series by a new-to-me author but one I will definitely be reading more from. Definitely recommended by me.

I enjoyed the first book so I decided to read the 2nd in the series. Granted it took me awhile to get to it, but I read it. And I have to say it took me forever to get through, yes Christmas was in there, but really!? 20 days to finish a YA book!? It was nothing to write home about, but I feel obligated to see the series through to the 3rd & final installment. I just can't decide if it's worth it or not...

The first book in the series, Kova creates a world of characters that are dynamic and continuously evolving. A girl who is used to a quiet life where she is no one special is quickly thrown into a world where she has no experience. You'll find yourself unable to put down this book and quickly reaching for the next in the series as you are pulled into a story about a girl who has to figure out who she is before others decide for her.

By this point, the series is really starting to feel like it's being drawn out unnecessarily. More characters are being brought in, with pages of information about them/their surroundings/backgrounds, which feels a lot like filler to meet a word count in some cases.

For me, the series isn't living up to the promise of the first book, which is a real shame. I really hoped for a more "haunted" vibe, given the name of the series, with unresolved matters being settled in the manner of the very first book, but the direction the story has taken isn't as appealing to me - purely a matter of personal taste, and I'm clearly very much in the minority given reviews I've read on other sites.

In all honesty, this isn't a series I would have persevered with if I was buying the books, but borrowing them as part of my Kindle Unlimited subscription (akin to borrowing from a local library, but more convenient!), I will finish the series.
