An enjoyable follow-up to the excellent Nightblade.
Ryuu continues to develop and master the sense, however I think he starts to come across as somewhat one-dimensional. A bit like Rand al Thor in the Wheel of Time series he starts to go a bit up himself and is obsessed with his own strength and thinks he has to do everything himself.
I still enjoyed Kirk's writing, it flows quite nicely.
The plot does feel something of a repeat of the first book in some ways - a much stronger opponent that must be bested in order to achieve/stop something.
The development of Moriko was a good aspect of the book, she begins to become much more interesting and integral to the storyline - a good thing given Ryuu's decline as a character.
I am very glad I continued with the series but did feel somewhat flat in comparison to the first book.
However, I did then continue with the final book in the series so obviously did enjoy it!

Everything must come to an end... Oh. My. God. This series.
Everything must come to an end... Oh. My. God. This series. I don't think I've been more excited about a release since the Fourth Debt was published. Im left speechless, as I usually am after Pepper's books. Incredible, beautiful, soul crushing, powerful, intense.. I could go on and on and no words would bring it justice. This story is amazing from start to finish.. Jetho and Nila's connection & the depth at which they understand each other is just beautiful to read and the story is nothing like anything you've ever read!? Chapter after chapter she just keeps shocking you with more... How do I describe how truly incredible this book was without sharing any spoilers? YOU. MUST. READ. THIS. BOOK/SERIES. I can't say this enough! After ripping my heart out book after book the Hawk/Weaver story has finally come to an end and I couldn't have imagined it any better. Every question answered, every truth revealed - couldn't have asked for more. HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommended!!

I got this book on 26th May 2014 as part of the Kindle Daily Deal.
This is the second book in Melinda Leigh's Midnight series and it's just as good as the first one. She continues to write a story that is gripping and suspenseful and is full of interesting twists, red herrings and snippets of history that tantalise as the story takes you to the woods of Maine. We reunite with the characters that we met in book 1 and stay with them as the story moves on. By this point, we definitely know who the bad guy is but who is his assistant and what are their motives?
This book has every emotion packed into it and I confess that I needed to get the dust out of my eyes towards the end but I shall say no more about that.
Although this is part of a series, it can also be read as a standalone however I would recommend that you read Midnight Exposure first, simply because it is just an excellent start to the series.

Thrilling
Reading this book has made me realise why reading a book series out of order is a bad idea. I've already read the direct follow on sequel to this, the 10th book Police, plus the 11th book The Thirst. So reading this afterwards may have spoilt it a little, which is a shame as it's a very good read.
I like the Harry who's no longer a policeman, as he's allowed to breach the rules he's stepped over many times and it makes for a thrilling and entertaining story. The plot itself isn't as convoluted and farfetched as some of the other books in this series, yet it's full of twists and turns and it's very well written. The ending, had I not read the following books, would be a huge surprise and the twist about the murder I definitely didn't see this coming.
Whilst it's not quite as good as The Snowman, this is definitely one of the best books in the series. I just need to go and re-read the sequel now.

This is book number 4 in the Dungeons and Dating series and I have to say I have loved every one so far. The series is centred on a group of people who run a business called the Tabletop Tavern and have come together through their love of board games, particularly Dungeons and Dragons.
Each book focuses on different characters and their love life and life in general. This book focuses on Kelly who is trying to get over a domestically violent relationship that ended with the death of her then-girlfriend and Tabby who has never felt any good for anybody.
Katherine is an absolute wizard with words and you get a clear understanding of what each character is going through. She tackles the tougher subjects abuse/homophobia/grief etc in such a delicate but powerful way. It is a pleasure to read even though some of it is heart-breaking.
I 100% recommend reading not just this book but the whole series. Fantastic Katherine.

Lynn Vroman has done it again - she has sucked me in, chewed me up and spat me out! What's worse is that I'm actually happy about it!!! This is the fourth book in the series, and brings the set to a climactic ending, albeit not without trauma and tears.
With a complex world that Lynn has built to perfection, with characters that are believable as well as funny, sharp, and dealing with their own stories, this world is one that gets better with each book AND with each reading of them.
I won't give out any spoilers as I don't want to ruin anyone's enjoyment, but I can and will highly recommend this series. If you want to immerse yourself in a world that is as colourful and bright, as it is dark and twisted, then you will want to try out the Energy Series!

With a complex world that Lynn has built to perfection, with characters that are believable as well as funny, sharp, and dealing with their own stories, this world is one that gets better with each book AND with each reading of them.
I won't give out any spoilers as I don't want to ruin anyone's enjoyment, but I can and will highly recommend this series. If you want to immerse yourself in a world that is as colourful and bright, as it is dark and twisted, then you will want to try out the Energy Series!

One of the complications that arises here involves a series regular; that part of the book will appeal most to fans of the series. Zee is a strong character in this book, and I always love seeing her, although all the series regulars get a scene or two to shine. A suspenseful climax caps another fantastic book.

Another FABULOUS book in the Boston Underworld Series!! I was hooked immediately reading Crow and Reaper was no different.. Once day read, didn't want to put it down!? SO much more than just a love story, this series/book is packed with everything from hardcore Mafia dealings, torture and revenge, to scenes that had me bawling in happy tears. Some people are just meant to be together and everything falls into place. That is how I would describe Ronan and Sasha... Two very "different" people who are immediately bonded on some unseen level. They calm and comfort one another like no else has or can, they understand just what the other needs, without pushing. It's beautiful really... Ronan, that quiet misunderstood man we first met in Crow, has finally shed some of his protective layers and, for lack of a better word, blossomed into the man we now see. A man with a purpose and a plan.. To do everything in his power to protect the woman he loves. This book was absolutely incredible- LOVING this series!!! I cringed at the violence, cried my happy tears and surely got a good laugh with some of these guys and their comments.. HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend book / author & series!!!

The Murder of the Uninvited Guest
Julia Snowden is happy and nervous to be hosting the first wedding in years on Marrow Island. The wedding is between her friends Zoey and Jamie. The rehearsal dinner the night before has one man that Julia doesn’t recognize at it. Part way through the meal, he collapses. Unfortunately, it quickly becomes apparent that he was murdered. Fortunately, Julia’s detective boyfriend, Tom, is on hand. But if no one knows who the man is, who would want to kill him?
Obviously, Julia begins to make connections soon, and this book gave me major Agatha Christie vibes. I do mean that as a compliment. The suspects were strong, and I had a hard time putting the book down until things came to a logical and surprising climax. I love the characters in this series, and it was great to spend time with them again, even if some of the regulars only had cameos. There are five more recipes at the end of the book to enjoy later. I laughed and teared up a time or two as I was reading this book. Series fans will put this one down very satisfied. If you haven’t started the series yet, you need to fix that today. This is a great series.
