Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Just a Bit Wrong (Straight Guys #4) in Books

I do enjoy this series and how it intertwines characters from one book to the next but at the same time, surely not everyone is gay? Why not say Zach's brother, Ryan's, friend with someone completely different. Because it is really turning into one big gay extended family. Not that i really mind but it's getting a bit much now.
I'm sure I'll get back to this series and Ryan and Jamie's story at some point but i need a break.

Holy shite!
This series has me gripped so bad. I need to know what the f*#$ is going to happen next with Matthew and Tarrick and Sam and the rest of them. Please don't take too long in writing the next book in the series Jex, because I need to know so badly.
As much as I liked Devak, I'm still kinda hoping for a Tarrick/Matthew reunion. The chemistry, whether it's all incubus related or not is just so... heated.

Liked this
Its been a few years since I read books 1, 1.5 and 2 in this series so I wasn't sure if I'd be able to get into it but I did. I enjoyed reading more of the Black Falcons members romances. I liked Trip and Holly and the storyline was different to a lot of other rock star books.
It would be nice to finish the series with Tyke's book to see who manages to capture his attention and heart.

3.5 stars.
I'm undecided on whether I liked this one as much as the last, but I don't think I did.]
I was still caught up in the story and everything but it didn't go where I expected it to and now I can't help wondering what the end game of the series will be. Who is she going to end up with in the end?

I'll be waiting a bit impatiently for the third book in the series.

My one thought right now is: why didnt I fetch the last book with me on holiday?!?
I sped through this so easily and quickly got dragged back into the series despite it being 2 and a half years since I read the first one.
Unfortunately I'm going to have to wait another four or five days till I'm back home to finish the series now and see how everything plays out with Penryn, Raffe, Paige and their crazy mum.

This is the first novella I've read in this series and I liked that despite how short it is that we still got to see Gin kicking arse.
Mab's funeral takes place in this and you'd expect it to be a rather sedate affair, right? WRONG! Two attacks in such a short story and seeing it all happen from three different viewpoints was an interesting angle for it to happen.
I'm expecting good things from the next book in the series now.

As mentioned in my review of the third book in this series, its been a long time between books 1 and 2 and books 3 and 4 and my tastes have changed/improved in the years between.
I'm sure if I'd have read these books in the 90's I would have loved them but the series is almost older than me (26) so terms like vampiress seem really outdated.
Nevertheless, I do like that everyone got what they wanted in the end.

Heather Cranmer (2721 KP) rated As Dead As It Gets (Bad Girls Don't Die, #3) in Books

(This review can also be found on my blog The (Mis)Adventures of a Twenty-Something Year Old Girl).
If you've read my reviews on the first two books in this series, you will know my love affair with the Bad Girls Don't Die series. Katie Alender has fast become one of my top three favourite authors. I loved As Dead As It Gets as much as the first two which is saying something as usually most sequels fail to get my love.
Alexis is back in the next installment of Bad Girls Don't Die. This time girls start going missing and Alexis is also being attacked. Alexis discovers that something supernatural is going on. Will Alexis be able to find the missing girls or will Alexis become a ghost herself?
I think the title of this book suits more of the series than the actual book itself. I mean, yes it also suits the book, but it suits the series better. I like how Katie Alender has stuck with titles that seem to blend into one another.
If you've read my reviews of the other two books in the series, you will see how I feel about the covers. I think the cover is gorgeous, but I just wish there was something more to the cover. I think the girl in the cover is either supposed to be Alexis or a ghost featured in this book.
Katie Alender does a fantastic job in the world building and setting in each of her books, and this book is no different. Alender made Alexis' surroundings come to life in great detail. It's quite easy to actual feel as if you are part of Alexis' world.
As always, the pacing of this Katie Alender title is perfect. It's not too slow nor is it too fast. The story flows very well. I ended up devouring all three books in this series, not literally though as paper doesn't taste too good, lol. As Dead As It Gets is such an easy read to immerse yourself in.
The dialogue and wording are easy to understand. All the teenage characters actually sound like teens. The words seem to just flow into one another. I didn't come across any swearing either.
The characters are all well developed as with the other two titles in the series. Alexis is a bit more paranoid in this book, and I also found that she's a bit of a pushover when it comes to Jared. I constantly wanted to yell at her to just leave Jared!! Jared comes across as being the controlling boyfriend type. I really couldn't stand him because of the way he was treating Alexis. My favourite character in this book was Lydia. I loved her sarcasm and humour. We really get to see a lot more of Lydia in this novel, and her personality shines through.
I can't tell you how much I enjoyed this book. It is so good!! I'm hoping this isn't the end of the Bad Girls Don't Die series. If it is, I might have to beg Katie Alender to keep writing more of this series as it is so good!
I'd recommend this book to everyone aged 13+.

How Did the Corpse Get Into Emmy's Shop?
Emmy Adler has just moved into the apartment above her kite shop. That's why she hears the scream when Stella, her part time employee, goes to open the store that morning. Stella has found a dead body in the middle of the shop's floor. Neither of the women recognize the victim, and the police aren't certain who she was either. Who could the victim be? Why was she in Emmy's locked shop in the middle of the night? And who killed her?
There are some fun twists to this mystery early on, but the pacing does lag a time or two before Emmy figures everything out. Once she does, we are in for a wonderful climax. I missed one or two of the series characters, but others were there to step in and keep us entertained. Naturally, the book has plenty of new characters, and they were well developed, making them good suspects in the case. One of the returning characters in this book does spoil some events from the previous book. I loved seeing this character again, but you might want to read book two in the series before you pick this one up. Unlike the first two in the series, this one is coming out as an ebook only, but fans of the series will be thrilled to see these characters again.
