Yet another truly marvelous entry in the Liaden Universe series! I put off reading it, with great difficulty, until I had finished reading the book I had to hand when I acquired it. After starting it, though, I couldn't help but devour it in one day, all 297 pages. While the story stands happily alone, it left me feeling bereft at the end, as is usual when ending a Lee & Miller book. I simply hate leaving their world, and my next visit can't possibly come soon enough!

A young man is serious injured in a hit and run, and his grandmother hires PI Tim to find out why. Is it related to his computer business? Tim will turn to his AIP friend Turing Hopper to find out. Another great book in a great series. Wish there were more. Read them in order because it's fun watching all the characters grow over time.

Former forger turned faux finisher Annie Kincaid is painting in an exclusive men's club when a member is found murdered. Then's she's asked to find a stolen statue and a painting that may or may not be forged. This is the fourth in a series, and it's another fun romp. The ending felt rushed, but that was my only complaint with the book.

Ex-boyfriend David Zetrakis was dying of cancer. But that didn't stop someone from killing him. And when Wollie's best friend Joey becomes the prime suspect, Wollie steps in to solve the crime. This book has a soap opera setting and feel, which adds to the fun. The second half slows down a little, but the third in the series is still a great read.

Irish immigrant Molly Murphy returns to Ireland on a job to find a missing relative. Unfortunately, she gets involved with a murder on board the boat taking her back to her native country. I normally love this historical series, but this one was up to par. The mystery was sacrificed in favor of the historical plot, which was good enough to redeem the book.

Madison Rose is kidnapped and is about to be killed until she is rescued - by vampires. And they want to use her to try to solve a series of murders that threaten their secret existence. Can she even trust them? I enjoyed the book and really grew to like the characters. Some of the scenes were just too dark for me, however.

I did not enjoy this book - it was a struggle .. 2 stars for just being a book and one that remotely had a plot and the blood and descriptions and photos were cool. The rest of it was NOT FUN and I DID NOT enjoy it.

It started off interesting, I thought it'd be cool, but it progressed slow like a snail and I wanted to sleep through it. It did not get exciting and I will definitely not be continuing this series - shame.

I actually enjoyed his book more than the first. I think this is because Pim is “free” so we get to see her start to live instead of survive. Also we get to see more of Elder and discover some of his secrets.

I am still very curious about this series so am about to start book 3.

I believe the books very realistically deal with Pim’s recovery from her torture especially the mental effects and the struggles she then faced to acclimatise to living with Elder.

I created a video explaining my slow decent into hating this series, book by book, for your viewing pleasure:

I kinda liked how this one ended. A horribly nice death for a character who was kinda silly and pointless anyway. Their whole arc felt jarring, at even at the end, when we know their single character trait they've been given, it felt really strange for the character to act the way they did.

Huuuuuuuh... 4 more books...

WOW STOP THE PRESSES GUYS THE BAUDELAIRS DID SOMETHING ON THEIR OWN!!! Something that truly wasn't just a reaction to something happening in their lives. It was- get this - a decision!!! A DECISION guys!!! The Baudelairs are human after all, rejoice!

Just 5 more books... Just 5 more, Star. Just five more.
