I got way too emo reading this book
Did I read the final story about everyone reminiscing before the Ascensions the night before my own high school graduation? I might have. These stories came with me through some of the strangest and darkest years of my life (*cough* high school *cough*), and this book felt like a perfect way to tie up the couple of loose ends left by City of Heavenly Fire.

This is the second book in the series and picks up just after the last one finished.

By now Sophie has grown up and is becoming Catherine, you start to see more of the leader she could be as she goes about establishing herself within the court.

Sophie has a more clear idea of who she can trust, pretty much no one, and that she must go to extreme lengths if she is going succeed and one day be queen.

Unfortunately this book did not have the bonus content videos like the last one did. I found this a real shame as I really enjoyed the extra insight in he previous book. I did still enjoy the story though.

Now that Miss Information has entered the scene, the kids in NERDS are over worked trying to stop her many schemes. But when she creates her own team, the BULLIES, will Ruby be able to leads the NERDS to stop them?

This is the final book in the series, and it goes out in fine form. There's action. There's laughs. And Ruby gets her turn in the spotlight as well. The book does a good job of wrapping things up in a way that will satisfy fans. It certainly did for me.

TV shooter Lilly Hawkins gets the scoop of the year, footage of a murder scene. But when she returns to the station her tape is blank. She thinks it is just bad luck until someone starts threatening her to get that tape. What has she stumbled into? The plot of this book is a little thin, but the action more than makes up for it. I also really liked how the characters developed over the course of the novel. I am very anxious to read the next book in what looks to be a great series.

I can't remember reading any other book that focuses on a main character's transition from human to vampire. I suppose we'll see more of them, now that Stein has done so. The book is a fairly good read, but you should definitely ignore the text on the back, as it's misleading. I assume Becoming is the first of a series, as there was a major issue left unresolved at the end.

This is definitely not a book for romance fans. While there are some explicit sex scenes, there isn't much real romance. I rather liked the omission, but some folks might assume that it is a paranormal romance.

I felt this book was a bit of a let down. I couldn't get into it for the longest time at all until a little over half way through it. Even then, I wasn't *that* into it.

I also couldn't relate to any of the characters. Mary was too much of a stereotypical goth which really annoyed me. Stereotypes in books drive me crazy especially goth ones. I didn't care what happened to Mary or anyone really.

The plot was a bit boring...trying to get rid of an evil ghost. Even the ending was a bit sudden and disappointing.

This book was just okay. Nothing special. I won't be reading the next book in the series.

'Ok' is a perfect word to describe the second installment in the Southern Reach Trilogy. I was expecting something a lot like Annihilation. But, this novel was office-based and kind of boring. The last part of the book was the most exciting, after slogging through the first parts. This novel is about the Southern Reach itself, and it's impending collapse. Is the border advancing? What is Area X? Welp, this book still wasn't sure about these questions. The only reason I'm going to complete the series is that I want to know what Area X is.
At least in this installment, they finally use the term 'alien', it only took a book and a half.

I love Sloan - I think Oriana is a bit annoying - woe is me until further toward the end where she gets more into herself - guess that's growth as a character which I like anyway.

I love Vanek too - he's my bae - I can't believe I haven't read his book yet and that makes me sad, just a taste of it at the end, wahhh!!!

Max and Dominick are just background noise to me in this book - neither stood out and neither were special to me in any way.

I love hockey books and the story and the end were pretty sweet too. Random thoughts - I adore this series though perhaps I'll go to Vaneks book next!

Lianne Moriaty is one of these rare but incredible authors that can suck you right into her books, to the point where you just don’t want to put it down, and this book is no exception.

It has friendship, hardship, love, sadness, and is beautifully written. It had me guessing about certain things, other parts I had an idea but wasn’t sure.

If you want to read this book (which I highly recommend) set aside a good chunk of time as once you start it you won’t want to put it down. I would say though I watched the TV series, and I didn’t think it was anything close to how amazing the book was.

You will not want to miss this book
If this is just book one i cannot wait to carry on reading the rest of the series... it had everything in it, a new discovery, a dark handsome yet unobtainable Ice Prince within a love triangle including Meghan's (main character) best friend, life threatening situations and even heart break!!! This book is one you will not want to put down until you've finished it and even after that your hands will be itching to pick up the next one. Seriously do not miss out; if you love a good fantasy romance then this is most definitely not one to ignore!!
