Dramatic and Creepy
This book hooked me on the series. I thought Hutchinson created thought provoking situations for his characters and made me wonder what I would have done myself.

TravelersWife4Life (31 KP) rated One Little Lie (The Pelican Harbor, #1) in Books
Feb 24, 2021
One Little Lie is the first book in the Pelican Harbor series, and after reading this one I certainly cannot wait to read the next book. I thought that the premise of this book was interesting; how one lie can turn into so much more. I enjoyed getting to know the characters in this book and I thought that they were interesting, relatable, and people I could see in real-life situations. Colleen Coble is one of my go-to authors when I need a good mystery without gory details or overdramatic scenes and she certainly came through again with this great book.
I give this book 4 out of 5 stars for the creative mystery, the strong characters, and for keeping my attention through the whole storyline and leaving me in anticipation of the next book in the series.
*I volunteered to read this book in return for my honest feedback. The thoughts and opinions expressed within are my own.

Merissa (14001 KP) rated His Forbidden Obsession in Books
Oct 9, 2025
HIS FORBIDDEN OBSESSION is the first book in the Forbidden Mafia series. Although this is the first book in this series, I believe it's a spin-off series, and so has other characters, plus family relationships, in it that I don't know.
Niko is the sweet, innocent in all of this, with a secret submissive side that comes out to play with Lorenzo. Lorenzo is the protective grump who is more than happy to show Niko just exactly what he wants and what Niko enjoys.
Add to this a not-so-nice(!!!) couple of families, plus the family that Lorenzo works for, and you have a fast-paced Mafia romance full of action and wanting what shouldn't happen.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story, but I do wish I had read the other series first. Definitely recommended by me.
** Same worded review will appear elsewhere. **
* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book; the comments here are my honest opinion. *

Christine A. (965 KP) rated Truth or Die (D.S. Imogen Grey, #5) in Books
Jul 31, 2019 (Updated Jul 31, 2019)
Book #5 of DS Imogen Grey series
I was provided with a complimentary copy of this book so I could give an honest review.
Truth or Die is the 5th book in the D.S. Imogen Grey series by Katerina Diamond. I did not realize it was part of a series until I was finished reading it. Reading the earlier books may help with understanding the characters and their behavior better, but it is not necessary. This book can stand alone.
DS Imogen Grey and DS Adrian Miles are partners who are very close in work and out. There is an attraction between them which is a storyline throughout the book and, according to reviewers on Goodreads, has been a slow-building theme woven throughout the entire series. However, the main storyline is the case they are investigating, the brutal murder of a college professor.
The cover has a warning indicating this is not for the faint-hearted. This is a fast-paced police procedural novel that is also a violent, dark, and graphic read. These scenes are not part of the book for mere shock value. They enhance the story and our understanding of the killer's thoughts and actions.
A 6th book is not listed on Goodreads, but I will be looking for it. In the meantime, I do plan to read the series from the beginning.

Christine A. (965 KP) rated Bitter Falls (Stillhouse Lake #4) in Books
Feb 10, 2020
4th book in the Stillhouse Lake series
I was provided with a complimentary copy of this book so I could give an honest review.
Bitter Falls is the fourth book in Rachel Caine's Stillhouse Lake series. To give a fair review, I read the earlier books and I am so glad I did. I will publish reviews on those, but this one will concern only Bitter Falls.
Gwen Proctor, working as a P.I., is tasked with investigating a cold case missing person. As usual with Gwen, things with this case, are not as simple as they seem. The entire family is pulled into the case while trying to stay away from the Hillbilly Mafia who wants Gwen and her family gone. Of course, you can not forget about the internet trolls and the Lost Angels.
As with the other books in the series, this book was difficult to put down. The story is fast-paced and, after Wolfhunter, the family is not able to pretend to "be normal" for long. By making Gwen a P.I, Rachel Caine has ensured this series will be able to continue with new and different cases in each book. I know I look forward to the next adventure of Gwen, the kids, Sam, and their friends/supporters.
Heartbreak Bay, the 5th book in Stillhouse Lake series is available to pre-order.
