I am very excited as the next book in the Spy Girl series by Jillian Dodd gets released this month. I preordered it ages ago and sort of forgot but just realised that it is being released on my birthday!!
If you haven’t read the series then I fully recommend you start as it has plenty of mystery, drama, suspense, conspiracy and a little romance (:

We read this book for the third month of my book club, when I read the blurb, I thought it sounded great and wanted to get stuck in straight away. My excitement was short lived, lasting only a few pages, i found it boring and dull, too long winded and by halfway through i was tired of the book. By the time i had 50 pages left i was ready to give up. If i had bought this book myself i would have put it down straight away. It was only the fact that it was for book club that i carried on with it I was so disappointed by this book that sounded like it had so much potential.

I LOVED this book - I honestly don't know why, I actually thought it would be different than what it was though I didn't read much about it other than getting it in my owlcrate and reading it this month I knew it had something to do with gems of some kind, well, thats the thing I got from the tattoos that came with the book anyway - so I was pleasantly surprised at how the book drew out - and I cannot wait for book 2.

This is one book where I don't find the side character to be more of a focus than the main for me - I loved the MC so much - I felt so drawn to her and her plight and felt for her situation.

I feel like perhaps the inevitable romance could have been left out - perhaps just make them buddies - I mean, it's not like it was bad to read but it was just .. in there - though perhaps the next book will go somewhere surprising - I literally can't wait to pick it up! Great job owlcrate, after last month you've redeemed yourself!

My favourite book of the month has
The Unadjusteds by Marisa Noelle it was just so well done a fab YA

My least favourite I can’t decide between Dorty Dom and Find Me they were both quite poor!

January was such a hard month I just struggled to read much.
I started my reading challenges hoping to read more in February!

"To read this book well is to learn a great deal about both war and peace, and about the violent and kind impulses of man. But it is also totally absorbing; I couldn’t bear to put it down the whole time I was reading it and would have chosen the next page over food even had I been wrecked a month at sea."
