cant wait to see where this series goes!
Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book.
This is book one, a short introduction if you will, into a new series by Ford, Chinatown Demons, and I bloody loved it!
Spencer moved to San Francisco, for a last chance to save himself from his demons. Only to find himself working with a different sort of demon he never knew existed.
It's only short, this book, some 100 odd pages, but it pulls and tugs you in so far and so deep, you keep reading til you blink, and poof! The book is finished and you didn't see it coming! I loved that!
I haven't tagged this one as a romance, because, quite simply, it isn't one. Oh there is attraction between Xian and Spencer, but there is nothing else. Xian, though, seems to know something more is going on between him and Spencer.
There is something going on, that isn't made clear yet, much like why Spencer came to town from the LAPD. Hints are all we get, and I'm not able to currently put the pieces together fast enough, but hey! I don't mind that. Makes future books far more able to pull me in again, like this one did.
I can't wait to see where this series goes, and I know it will probably be some time before we get the next instalment, but I'll wait!

FINALLY, we have Justin and Caitlin's story. Now, for those of you that haven't read any of the Psy-Vamp series, you don't really have to get the story but it does make more sense if you have. Personally, I would get all of them and settle down for a Psy-Vamp session if you haven't already but that's just me!
Justin and Caitlin are mentioned in all three previous books and I have been waiting for their story to come out. We finally get it with Caitlin and Justin suffering after an event that happened in the previous book (like I said, not necessary but it does help!). Justin decides that the best thing for Caitlin is for him to leave but Caitlin decides to take things into her own hands.
This book has had me in stitches as Caitlin's supposed "quiet time" for her ultimatum to Justin becomes one of the busiest the house has seen. We have characters old and new who pop up which was a great way to catch up on how they're all getting along. One thing I have to add is that I loved the differences between Justin and Caitlin's mothers - absolutely brilliant.
Like all previous books, in this series and the other books by Cassandra Lawson, the wit is in full flow. The women are strong and the men are Alpha. Another jewel in the crown of the Psy-Vamp series. Loved it!

Justin and Caitlin are mentioned in all three previous books and I have been waiting for their story to come out. THE BANDALORE is the first book in the Pitch & Sickle series. It begins with Silas dying and coming back to life in a coffin, and no, he's not a vampire. He isn't sure what he is now and has no idea who he was before. His memory of his previous life has disappeared, leaving him uncertain in a world full of uncertainties.
This is slow-burn - so slow there is no romance at all in this first book. That isn't an issue as I can see there is so much to this world, I am happy to take in all the details first and then move on to the romance.
Silas and Tobias are two very different souls. Silas is trusting, caring, and almost naïve. Tobias is obnoxious, and harsh, with a rather bitter view of the world. Is it justified? I think so, but I still have so much more to learn about his past.
I loved the addition of Black Annis being as I'm Leicestershire born and bred! It was very descriptive but remained true to the myths and legends surrounding her.
An intriguing start to a series where nothing is as it seems and you can't even trust the 'good' guys - if they are indeed good. I can't wait to continue with this series and see where it goes from here. Definitely recommended by me.

PROTECTOR is the final book in the Kensley Panthers series and it is the FIRST that I have read! Although I would like to read the others in this series, I can't say as I felt I missed too much when reading this story.
Adam and Zach are best friends, coming to the end of their school lives, and wondering what the future will hold. Adam wants to stay and work on the farm. It's all he's ever wanted to do and has a love of the land. Zach isn't sure what to do. He has a bad home life but doesn't think about leaving because of his two younger sisters.
I loved how natural these two were, how they wanted to help the other, and would be there no matter what. Their relationship was so smooth, once you got over the initial stumbling step when neither knew what to do. I loved Adam's finding of himself, and Zach's acceptance.
The pacing was smooth, and the world-building was enough-even in the last book of the series-that I felt as though I knew the town and the characters that live there. If there were any errors, I didn't see them as I was too engrossed in the story.
A sweet and spicy tale that I read in one sitting, and have no hesitation in recommending.

Daylight Robbery is the sixth and final book in the Aspen Falls series, and it is definitely the one that tops them all for me.
Chief Marks has been a stoic character throughout this series, and we finally get more information on just why and how he is the way he is. Not only that, but we get a sweet romance between him and Melina, the social worker who helps him love again.
Don't be fooled into thinking it is 'just' a sweet romance though. Oh no! We also get 'Jason Bourne' behaviour, which although it made me wince when I was writing it, made for an excellent addition to the story, really showcasing the 'skills' Leah has, and how prepared to do anything to get away from the police, and their brutality.
This is an amazing, heartfelt story, that I am happy to say does have a HEA, sadly unlike the majority of missing kids cases. Emotions run rife in this story, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
There were no editing or grammatical errors that disrupted my reading flow. The pacing is smooth and keeps you on your toes until you reach the ending. The characters are all believable, both the main characters and the supporting ones.
In my opinion, this is the best book of the series, and absolutely recommended by me!

I loved this so much. I read this one not realizing it was a spin off from another series, but it wasn't necessary to read the other series first even though I do have a feeling I would understand some of the characters more if I had. However, it is NOT needed at all. Cain is so hott. He is a demon, he is sexy, and when he turns demon so much yummy. He has insecurities and jealousy. He loves his mate so much but is worried she won't want or need him so he takes his time. Olivia is amazing. She is so strong but thinks she isn't. She was sheltered because of her fear and needing her brother so much. She falls for Cain who is a demon and she is a werewolf so she isn't supposed to love a demon. They both have to work through so much just to be together including his issues and her brother. This is an amazing start to this series and thanks to reading this one I now need to read the other series before this one. I highly recommend this book if you love paranormal romance.

Mrs. Mehl has once again used her superb talent to capture this read with everything she put into the book. This book is instantly gripping. You'll be taken on a whirlwind of emotions, you'll find yourself turning page after page long into the night. Then, when you think you've got it all figured out, Mrs. Mehl hits you with something unexpected and you're left wondering what just happened, then you're wondering when in the heck is she going to release book 2 of Kaely Quinn's story so you can try to figure it all out again. That's phenomenal!
I loved this book and I think all readers who want a fast paced, edge of your seat, white knuckle gripping story should grab this new series starter from the talented Nancy Mehl. This 5 star worthy novel is one you don't want to to miss! Hats off to you Ms. Mehl! Hats off!
