Murder on a Neighboring Key
Even when you live in paradise, you need a break. That’s why Hayley Snow is taking a few hours with her friend Eric and their dogs and heading to a beach on one of the nearby islands. However, the day takes a sad turn when Hayley’s dog finds a dead body half buried in the sand. The man was G.G. Garcia, a Key West developer who had a bad reputation. The local police think there is something suspicious about his death, and Hayley gets pulled into the investigation. Will she figure out what really happened?
I’ve fallen in love with Key West thanks to this series, and I was happy to be back. Sadly, the mystery was very weak. Even the characters got frustrated by their lack of progress throughout the book. Plus, the victim was a little too evil, with a few things that felt thrown in just to make other characters feel virtuous. The book gets a little dark and edgy for a cozy as well. Finally, there’s a subplot that comes across as half-baked, the characters involved definitely deserved better. On the other hand, I really did enjoy the location and the series regulars. Nathan, Hayley’s husband, gets some good development thanks to a visit from his estranged father. If you are new to the series, this isn’t the book for you, but fans will enjoy catching up with the characters.

BEAUTIFUL MISTAKES is the third book in the Second Chances series and we finally get all the details on the two squabbling children who have made their feelings towards each other known in the previous two stories!
We all know it's a case of forbidden attraction between Wolf and Spencer, but here, we actually find out their childhood backstories as well more recent happenings between them.
Now, Spencer hasn't been my favourite 'friend' in this series, but I was pleasantly surprised by how relatable he is in this. He and Wolf have similar backgrounds in some ways, but whereas one goes one way, the other goes another. Make sense? It will do, trust me.
This is a slow burn - after all, it's been years since they were at college together - but hold onto your hats, because when it gets on, IT GETS ON!!!
A great ending to the series with an added bonus scene (if you can get it - my Paperwhite didn't like it for some reason, so I can't comment on specifics). A fun read with lots of emotions covering a multitude of events, this is absolutely recommended by me.

MAGIC, DEMONS AND THE HUNTER is part of the Enchanted Ink multi-author series and features Eliphas and Pierre, who we met in A SCENT LIKE NO OTHER, in the FATED MATES ANTHOLOGY.
This time, Mondo is also around. He is the third part of their triad, and the one Pierre and Eli thought was dead. He is very much alive but missing a chunk of memories, including those that would have sent him to Pierre and Eli.
While I love the coven and the triad in particular, I would have preferred to know more about their world and the demons they face. As it is part of a series, I did feel as though I'd missed out on some world-building by not having read book one yet.
The overall arc isn't over by a long shot and I look forward to reading more in this series and seeing other characters find their mates. I just hope I see more of Mondo, Pierre, and Eli, as they are fantastic characters that made me smile.
Hot, dangerous, flirtatious, honesty - it's all here and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Definitely recommended by me.

HUNTED is the fifth book in the Blood Moon, Texas Shifters series and we have River and Ellie's story. I would recommend you read this in order as it does have an overall story arc that might be confusing if you don't know how it got to this stage.
River and Ellie have a history together, and it's not always a good one! River had to take Ellie's memories, even though she was his mate, leaving her with crippling anxiety. It's for this reason that Hayden refuses to speak to River and threatens him at every opportunity.
River and Ellie have moved past that - although I'm not exactly sure when. Maybe it was in the past books, but it's been a while since I read those, so I'm not sure. Their relationship did throw me a little in the beginning. Especially the 'projection' sex, when it wasn't always clear that's that what it was.
The overall story arc moves along at a fast pace, with new and old characters helping it along the way. It will be interesting to see what happens in August and Rowan's story, which is up next.
A great addition to the series but definitely recommended to read as a series.

GREED is the fourth book in the Seven Princes of Sin series and more than one person meets their mate in this one!
Isabel and her two sons, Brandon and Will, were left with nothing when her husband died. He had used all her money and given everything to his mistress. Then she finds out her apartment is being condemned and they will have nowhere to live. With no other options, she goes to Club Greed to see if they can help. The help she receives is nothing like she expected and everything like she needed.
This series just keeps getting better and better. It is dark, in places, which just makes you appreciate the softer moments even more. Michael... gah, I can't wait to see what happens to him. He really is a piece of work. Well, they all are, but you know what I mean!
The overall story arc continues to move along and Lucifer remains an enigma. I would highly recommend you start from the beginning and work your way through, just to ensure you don't miss anything. GREED is a great addition to the series and is definitely recommended by me.

I'M NOT IN LOVE is the first book in the Don't Let Go series and we start off with Remi and Tristan. Both of these guys have major baggage going on, but manage to find some solace with each other. Will it last, or will they push each other away?
Remi and Tristan are opposites in so many ways. Remi has money but no real family. Tristan has his family he adores, but they are struggling to make ends meet. They meet by chance and sort of fall into a friendship that becomes so much more, although neither will admit it.
I found the baggage for both of them to be realistic. The supporting characters were also fantastic additions, especially if Uncle Tris got hurt! The pacing was perfect for the story and I was definitely left wanting more, not ready to leave Remi and Tris behind.

Duchess Jacqueline Graduates to Full Novel Length
Duchess Jacqueline and her closest friends and advisors are traveling to the kingdom of Lysandeir. A summit of other rulers is meeting to decide the fate of a region that has been lawless for as long as anyone can remember. Jacqueline is hoping to lead the others to reach a decision that will most benefit her kingdom. But when a young woman dies before the talks even get started, everything is thrown into chaos. Are the rest of the attendees in danger? Can Jacqueline figure out what is going on?
This book marks the transition in the series from novella to novel length story. Unfortunately, there are some pacing issues in the book near the beginning. Yes, it is setting up some things, but I do wish we had gotten to the mystery faster. It’s hard to complain, however, since I love spending time with these characters, and I enjoyed meeting the new ones. We also got some nice growth in several of the characters. Once the mystery began in earnest, it was strong with some nice twists and red herrings on the way to the logical solution. A word of warning: there are major spoilers (by necessity) in this book if you haven’t read the earlier books in the series. Fans of the series will enjoy this entry overall. If that isn’t you, yet, fix that today.

ALL OF ME is the second book in the Enhanced World Security series and follows on some months after the end of One Step Sideways so I absolutely recommend you read them in order! Shae is recovering slowly, Drake is still trying to avoid him, and everyone else is watching from the sidelines.
This was such a twisty-turny story I had to take my time, which I loved. Honestly, these men. You know already that Shae had a rough time of it growing up, but you get the full story of Drake's childhood too, and let me tell you, it's not pretty. Drake's concerns about him and Shae are valid, the same as Shae's about Drake, but I was rooting for them from the start. Add in Tammy, Maxie, Moira, Albert, Joe, and all the others, and I was sold.
This was an amazing story and a great addition to the series. I still need to read the first series, but I now want to even more. You don't have to have read those to enjoy these though. Take my word for it. Absolutely fantastic and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED by me.

You know when you read the second book in a series, and think how much better the first book was? Well, this isn't the case with The Curse of Betrayal! In fact, I think this book was even better than its predecessor. I believe The Curse of Betrayal could be read as a stand alone, but it'd be much more enjoyable if you read The Thousand Year Curse which is the first book in the series.
I like the title. Ryder does feel a bit betrayed by her mother and someone else (to tell would be spoilers) in the book.
Like the first book, I'm not a fan of the cover of this book either. It's just too plain for my liking, and for those that do judge a book by its cover (of which I have been guilty before), I think it will put them off reading this AMAZING book!
I enjoyed the world building. It seemed as if a place like the Demi God Academy could really exist. Plus, the world in this book answers most of my questions from the first book. The world building is definitely interesting in this book!
The pacing is spot on! I loved every page and couldn't wait to find out what would happen next. Even in the pages where there was no action, it was still very gripping.
The plot is just as interesting, if not more interesting, as the first book. In this book, we learn more about Ryder, Ryder's elusive mother, and Ari as well as a new cast of characters. We get to see Ryder's first year at Demi God Academy, and let's just say it is anything but uneventful. Ryder is still trying to work out her curse and find out which man is her soul mate. Miss Lavati does an excellent job of making sure her characters are well written and able to come to life. While I liked Ryder and found her to be a well rounded character, I thought she was being a bit too whiny and selfish with double standards. For example, it's okay for Ryder to flirt with and kiss both Ollie and Ari, but when one of them does it with another girl, Ryder gets insanely jealous. (There's one scene at a restaurant where this is very apparent and a bit over the top). I do feel bad for Ryder though. While some may think it'd be amazing to have two hot guys pine after your affections, Ryder doesn't want to hurt either one of them and hates seeing each one miserable. Plus, her life is in danger thanks to the curse Hades has put on her. I was glad that Ari was featured a lot in this book because I'm definitely Team Ari, and I really want Ryder to pick him. Ari is just a smooth kind of guy. He's funny and witty. Ollie is in the book just not as much as Ari. I do like Ollie also, but just not as much as Ari. Ollie is very caring and everything, but I just feel like Ari would make a better boyfriend. I also liked Kara in this book. She was such an awesome best friend, and I loved the way she really cared about Ryder.
The dialogue fits perfectly for a mature young adult/new adult book. I enjoyed every single scene. There are a few grammatical errors, but it doesn't take away from the book at all. There's also swearing and sexual references, but nothing over the top.
Overall, The Curse of Betrayal by Taylor Lavati is a fantastic read. This book has a great cast of characters, a super interesting plot, and a very immersive world. Miss Lavati is a very talented writer, and I enjoy reading her work. Will I be reading the next book in the series? Most definitely!
