Venomous Hunger (Eok Warriors #2) by Mary Auclair
Venomous Hunger is the second book in the Eok Warriors series, but it can be read as a standalone. I would recommend you do read book one first, but only because you'd be missing on a great story if you don't.
Aliena was one of the free humans living on earth, but became very sick. So when the Eoks arrived on earth, one of inhabitants of their village placed her where they knew she would be found, in the hope of getting her the medicines she needed. Kamal has been a pirate for ten years, ever since he left the Eok nation in disgrace for an action he would do again without hesitation. Working together to rescue the humans, these two face danger and betrayal.
Once again, this is an exceedingly well written story, with plenty of action, both in and out of the bedroom. A different cast of characters this time, with only a few mentioned from book one, they are nevertheless well thought out and fully rounded. There were no editing or grammatical errors that disrupted my reading flow, and I was thoroughly engrossed with the story.
An excellent addition to the series, and I look forward to reading more. Absolutely recommended by me.

Expectant Moon is the first book in the Gladstone Shifters series and it takes you to a current world where things are changing. Here we find Evan, a Delta, and Ben, an Alpha. Their two lives are separate at the start but once they meet, fireworks explode!
I found the beginning of this book to be slightly discombobulated, simply because we shift from one time to another, with different characters being introduced each time. HOWEVER, stick with it because each of those characters and situations is incredibly important to the overall story arc.
Once this story progressed, I was completely hooked. I loved this history of how times and attitudes had changed, how ways of life were forgotten and how they really needed to be remembered. Luckily for everyone, Jack is on hand to help and Evan will make sure it continues.
There was enough steam to melt my Kindle - which I loved! You really get a two-for-one deal with this book as Jack and William are magnificently interwoven with Evan and Ben - only in the literary sense! There is also pain, hate, tenderness, love, and hope.
Really, this was an amazing read that I thoroughly enjoyed. An amazing start to a new series with intricate details and new situations giving a brilliant twist to the 'standard' MM Paranormal Romance genre.
Absolutely recommended by me.

This one carries on exactly where book 2 left off. Lela is now jumping off a cliff in the hopes of having an audience with The Judge so she can go and rescue her friends from the Mazikin realm. The Judge grants her request but only if they do something else while they're there: Kill the Queen and destroy the portal. Teaming up with old friend and fellow Guard, Ana, they journey into the domed city of the Mazikin to free Malachi and those they love.
Every book has had a different setting - Book 1: Shadowlands, Book 2: Rhode Island, Book 3: The Mazikin City. Being in the Mazikin city was different. I wasn't sure what to expect but it had its own industries. They could make their own glass and burn coal for power but still relied on human blacksmith's and tanners for clothing and weapons. It was an unusual environment.
This one seemed to have non stop action from the start. There was always something going on, no lulls or unneeded information. It was one hell of a journey from the Sanctum to the Mazikin City back to Rhode Island.
I felt this was a rather good ending to the series. Everything was wrapped up, everyone had their happy ending, though I was sad at times. It's really hard to express my feelings without giving too much of this story away but if you've started the series then I recommend you continue it and if you haven't started it yet, than I think you should give this a try.

Vengeance is the penultimate book in the Werewolf Academy series and it shows no signs of slowing down. After being betrayed, Alex is held by Extremists who want to drain him of his blood. Surprisingly, Drogan is there too and not in the way he wants to be. He is being held against his will as a backup in case Alex doesn't turn. That's right, Drogan is a werewolf too and the reasons given for why he hates them so much are heartbreaking. Doesn't stop me from completely loathing the man but at least I understand more about him now.

On the plus side, Alex has a summer by the sea learning to surf. Okay, so actually he's there to escape Drogan but, you know, silver linings and all that. He learns more about himself and Siale, and what makes him tick and undertake the things he does.
There is nothing too obvious in this book but I can tell it is building up. I know the big climax will come in the next book and I am dreading it as much as I can't wait for it. I've been burnt by Ms. Alsop before! This really is a fantastic series that I am thoroughly enjoying. The characters are likeable, sometimes foolhardy, but always trying their best. Absolutely brilliant.

Forgotten Storm is the first book in the Storm series and, let me tell you, it certainly kicks up a storm! From beginning to end, this book grabbed my attention and wouldn't let go!
Nikki is a strong female character who has dealt with more than she should have done, which has left her with coping mechanisms she doesn't think anyone will understand. Logan is her mate and a strong character in his own right. He has done what he thought was right for Nikki, even to his own detriment, to ensure her safety. Of course, nothing goes according to plan so both of them have to deal with unforeseen issues.
This is, quite simply, an amazing book. There are some hard-hitting subjects raised here including sexual abuse, assault, BDSM, plus more that I won't go into. There are no slow points in the story and the pacing is perfect for the story. I loved how Nikki was into martial arts 'before' she knew anything so that helped her progression. Logan is a darling and I loved him! He's also an Alpha Male so obviously he needed a whomp upside the head at times and Nikki was the perfect one to do so.
A brilliant start to a series that I can't wait to read more about. Highly recommended.

Spinoff Series Starts with a Bang
This book finds a trio of Army friends turned adventurers heading to the Arizona Territory to help out a struggling copper mine. No, it’s not to help them with the mining. The conglomerate Consolidated American Mining Corporation has decided it wants to buy this particular mine, and they are doing all they can to convince the owners to sell. There’s just one major problem – the owners don’t want to sell. And our trio of heroes have been hired to help protect the mine. But against the overwhelming odds, can they do it?
These characters began life in the author’s Holmes on the Range series, and I was happy to follow them over here. The story started a bit slowly, but it isn’t long before the action heats up as the characters find themselves facing overwhelming odds. Yet, I found myself cheering at the end. To be clear, this is more of an action story than a mystery. The characters are a bit thin, but they do have their moments to shine. The reality of racial relations in 1894 is part of the backdrop of the book, and it’s sad to think we ever treated each other this badly. The book is a bit more violent than I normally like, but only a little bit. It is softened some by the humor. If you are looking for an action book set in the old west, you’ll find this the perfect book to pick up.

TAMING OF A WOLF is the second book in the Viking Wolves series. This time, it's exiled Anders who finds his mate, and talk about grumpy/sunshine! Anders and Jamie are a pair you wouldn't think would work on the surface, but offer each other more healing and love than you would have thought possible.
It is a case of instalust for them both when they first meet, and I loved how Anders told Jamie immediately what he was and what Jamie also was. Anders' apprehension about telling others was 100% justifiable, the same as Jamie's confidence that his friends would believe differently. Their story is full of emotion and hope, even as darkness and depression claw at them both.
Honestly? I am LOVING these stories. And Anders having the opportunity to make his past right again is something I think everyone has wanted at one time or another. There was so much to this story, and I loved every moment.
The best advice I can give you is sit and savour every moment of this book. It will make you laugh, and it will make you cry - or it did me, at least! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book and the series, and look forward to returning for Operation Loren.

The best advice I can give you is sit and savour every moment of this book. It will make you laugh, and it will make you cry - or it did me, at least! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book and the series, and look forward to returning for Operation Loren.

THE CINDERS is the latest book by D K Girl, set in the same world as The Diabolus Chronicles. You don't need to have read that series, though, to enjoy this story. It is a retelling of the original Chinese legend, Ye Xian.
Prince Xian is the thirteenth son of the emperor, but that doesn't give him any favours, especially after his mother dies. He is sent away to live with the sister of a Noble Consort, who was at odds with his mother. You can imagine how his life is. Song Lim is a shoemaker of renown, who is captivated by Prince Xian from the first moment. Xian's life will take him away from Song Lim, but will Song Lim follow his prince?
This was a rich and imaginatively woven story that is both sweet and slow-burning. Xian and Lim are ably supported by a host of wonderful characters, including but not limited to Sir William Black and Master Ren. Other characters don't play as big a role, but are important, nonetheless.
The one thing this book does is make me want to re-read The Diabolus Chronicles from beginning to end. I loved that series, and I love this book. Definitely recommended by me.

Before I start, I need to say that this series is preceded by two related books: BRINK OF ETERNITY and THE DARKENING. RAPTURE’S EDGE is part of the Guardians of Ascension Saga!
However, I haven't read any of those prior to starting this book although I sure as hell want to read them now! This is not due to any plot holes or confusion in this book, it just sounds like such a great place, I want more.
This is an in-depth and full-of-action story that mainly revolves around Duncan and Rachel. There is a lot going on and you also need to understand that they are going through a mating bond which throws a caveman into the mix too. With psychotic women, strange powers and at least six Earths that I read about, this story has it all. I loved that the main two in this book had a history together, it wasn't just insta-love! That is always a bonus for me. So many other characters that intrigue and enchant though. One such character is Endelle - now I can't say that she's enchanting but I did love her attitude and her honesty. I can't wait to read more about her.
A thoroughly enjoyable start to the series which will definitely leave you wanting more. Definitely recommended.
