I've been wanting to get into the Dragonriders of Pern series for quite some time, and tried on many occasions, starting various books. This is one of the reasons I've started in the 'wrong' place. Given the fact there was definitely some lore I felt I was missing which was probably given in the earlier three books. But saying that none of what I didn't know spoiled my enjoyment of this book. I got totally emersed in the world of Pern and look forward to returning.

Hmm... as much as I love this series, this one felt like we were back to square one again with her having amnesia and not remembering anything.

I liked how the gang all followed her to Sleepy Hollow and found ways to be in her life but I wasn't as into this story as the previous books. The banter and mystery themes were still there but I couldn't bring myself to care too much.

I'm hoping book 10 will be back to normal in New Mexico.

I really, really, really liked this!

Jack... *sigh* You poor bugger. I felt for you a lot in this. It was obvious how strongly you felt for Keri Anne but because of a contract you couldn't do anything that might last :'(

I loved their relationship and wanted to cry so bad when things went awry between them.

Now eagerly awaiting a time when I can get the second book in the series, so I can see how their relationship works out :D

Book number 9 (already) in the Montague and Strong series, that sees the titular immortal detective Simon Strong and his Mage partner-in-crime Tristran Montague (and Peaches the hellhound) travelling to Japan to track down the leader of New York's Dark Council (and Simon's on-again off-again) vampire girlfriend Michiko, while she is also being stalked (is that the right word?) by a fanatical group of vampire hunters the Blood Hunters.

And, for once, they manage to leave the surroundings (mostly) intact!

I was pleasantly surprised in the improvement of characters in this book, as my expectations of this series have dimmed over the course of the series. This book was better. Both Dragon and Lenobia's character are shown more insight as their back stories are revealed, which I'm sure is further explored in the books, Dragon's Oath and Lenobia's Vow. Also, one of the "twins" shows some backbone and stands alone in her beliefs - about time, I might add. Those two drove me nuts every time their dialogue appeared on the page.
Rephaim also continues to battle with his origins and his new lease on life, thanks to Nyx's forgiveness. Though Rephaim himself does little to progress the plot, his presence serves as a major catalyst for both sides and drives Kalona to make some interesting choices.
There is also the addition of a new fledgling to the mix, whose addition answers one question about the red fledglings, but brings up many new questions as she has a new gift of True Sight. From the descriptions, she can see auras, though the word is never used for whatever reason, which I also found annoying. One other addition is another adult to the Tulsa House of Night, a major supporter of Zoey and company, who brings a good dose of sanity and maturity that it so desperately needs. I have renewed hopes in the continuation of this series.

The sequel and finale to the series is as well written as the first. I don't want to spoil anything but my emotions were in turmoil throughout this book. The author revealed truths to Etta and tore our hearts open with sympathy, hurt, compassion, love, and happiness. The rollercoaster of emotions never faded and we hoped that maybe Etta would find her place. That maybe not all travelers were scoundrels. That maybe there was a future out there for her.

Wayfarer is a wonderful fictional trip through history spanning thousands of years and crossing the globe. It is not all shiny, rose-tinted history but the truthful depiction of disease and death that so many faced. It brings a level of realness to the book that makes the reader more invested in what's happening to their beloved characters.

I found myself enjoying the sequel even more than the first, so overall this series is wonderful. Be prepared to be hit in the gut with feelings. I cannot prmise that you won't shed a tear. But believe me, this series is worth it. It was a very satisfying conclusion to a well written, riveting and emotionally taxing (in the best way) duology.

Highly recommended to young adult/teen readers who are fans of historical fiction. This is so well written and fascinating that I believe most people who pick it up will be a fan, even if they don't normally gravitate towards historical books.
