Next in the independence Island series…Scrumptious Independence by Melissa Wardwell! I have been looking forward to this book for months. and boy was it worth the wait. I loved her balance of character interaction with the emotions and memories she invoked in me through her characters. It truly was a fun book to read that I had a hard time putting down.

I thought Melissa Wardwell did a great job engaging not just your eyes but your memories too! From her yummy sounding recipes (that may or may not have set off a cooking spree, much to my husband’s delight), to the hints of a mystery within, added with a dash of super sweet romance between Beth and Scott… I mean what more can I say? This book is a recipe for a good clean engaging read. Well done Melissa Wardwell, now I can’t wait to see what will happen on the Merriweather Islands next

This is my second read through of this book. Much of it I had forgotten, although it came back to me as I read it.
I have never read a series that keeps me so captivated as this one does, Erikson has such a talent for writing,he makes every single character important in the progress of the story, and there are hundreds of characters. And you connect with each and every one of them. You get pulled into this world every time you pick the book up, and its such a struggle to put the book down. He is, without a word of a lie a master storyteller, I have never read anything by an author like him.
If you think George R R Martin is harsh with the death of characters, Steven Erikson will break your heart time and time again. And yet you cant help but go back for more.

Since I read this after reading book 3, it made a lot more sense to me than the 18 months between book 2 and 3.

Anyway, I'm glad that Sarah finally made her mind up and chose Michael, he'd always cared for her so for them to end up together has made me happy for them. Team Michael!

As for the rest, everything that had been building up over the previous three books was brought to a head in this and we see the final showdown with the Council and some of the other Vampires. I'm glad a lot of it fell on the good guys side.

If you're going to read this, you should read them as closely together as possible to get the full affect of the story.

I've seen the author is planning on a fifth book, but I think the series has ended well enough without it so I don't think I'll read it if it does come out.

I was really looking forward to this book when I heard the synopsis. A prequel to The Hunger Game. The development of Snow and Panam. There were two speeds in this book: snail paced and space rocket. It was really nice that the author linked in aspects of the subsequent books and their origins, for example the Hanging Tree song and where the name Katnis came from. And I thought the origins of Coriolanus Snow was really interesting, but throughout the book I found it difficult to see how these series of events turned him into the character we see in The Hunger Games. If anything the events should have led to his character being a rebel and the reason described in this narrative seemed lazy. This could have been brilliant but for me as there was no clear character development to the Snow we see in The Hunger Game, it killed it for me

This is the second book in the Southern Spirits series which is turning out to be absolutely brilliant! When The Dead Speak is Laine and Sev's story. Laine, as we already know, is the Sheriff of McKinton, and Sev is someone who has just arrived in town which quite an unusual resume! The attraction between the two is instantaneous but they still have their own issues to work through, which makes so much more sense to me than insta-love. I loved seeing Zeke and Brendon in this, and how their relationship with Laine has developed into a strong friendship.

Well-written and with an intriguing storyline, this story also has some amazingly hot scenes. I can't wait to read the next one. Highly recommended by me.
