MINE TO KEEP is part of the Bloody Desires series, all standalone featuring serial killer daddies. Sounds good, right?
And it really was! Told primarily from Knox's perspective, you also have drop-in chapters from other characters to round it off. Knox has been an assassin for more years than he had planned, but knows his time is coming to an end. Just how it ends has yet to be determined. As he travels to a job, he meets Talon and Javier at the airport. There is something about them... but, no. He has a job to do. As circumstances would have it, he meets them again, and there you go. I would say it all kicks off from there, but I'd be lying, as action has already been on the menu by then.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story! Yes, it's violent, but it's also sweet. What a conundrum! 😆 Javier and Talon are almost perfect together, but they really do need Knox to round them out. Peggy is another one I loved, and I really hope to find her in other books in this series. I don't know for sure, as this is the first one I have read, but it certainly won't be the last.
Although this is primarily Knox's story, I would have liked to have seen a little more with Talon and Javier. For example, their reunion, or how their relationship developed further. That is the only reason I rated it 4.5 instead of 5 stars.
I thought this was a great introduction to the series, and I look forward to reading more. Definitely recommended by me.

A LIAR'S MOON is the second book in the newly rewritten and expanded Strength of the Pack series. Although reading book one isn't necessarily needed, I would recommend it. This time, it's Jason's turn.
Jason, if you don't already know, is the soft-spoken one, the one with a heart of gold, who isn't sure he belongs due to how his old pack treated him. So it makes complete sense to me that this book reflects him. It's not full of action, chaos, and mayhem, but more hurt/comfort, and seeing the joy on people's faces. And most of the time, it's Riley who makes Jason happy. Most of the time, but not all of it. Riley was rejected by his family when he came out, and he has wandered since then, doing different jobs. He's on his last chance, and needs to write about the Elk Ridge Pack and a possible Argent. But he doesn't count on Jason.
I was completely engrossed with this story, from beginning to end. I loved how their relationship grew, and boy, was I invested in it! When what was inevitable finally happened, my heart broke, not just for Jason, but for Riley too. Jason at least had his pack there for him, whereas Riley had no one. It was really emotional, seeing it play out, and I couldn't read fast enough, while simultaneously not wanting to finish.
The ending was perfect for Jason and Riley, and I look forward to seeing them in future books, just as I saw Matt and Jesse in this one. It's Tristan's book next, and I can't wait! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED by me.

BOOKER'S BLISS is the third story in the Divergent Omegaverse series, and for part of the story, we get the same events that happened in Taylin's Temptation. This doesn't happen for long, but just so you're aware.
Frey is the flirty fox, the one everyone thinks is the Omega version of Jupiter. Booker is the big bear who growls all the time. What would these two have in common? Well, a lot of things, as it happens. Not only that, but there's also that thing called attraction, although neither of them will admit to it...
These two are sweet, and both have their own baggage. Booker helps Frey work through his trauma, but deals with his own by himself. Well, with Derick by his side. Due to said trauma, this is more of a slow burn than other books by this author, but it fits. And while I liked that they didn't do anything until Frey's heat, I also sort of wish they had. So Booker would have known that it was just heat madness talking. And Frey, too, now I'm thinking about it. That's shown afterwards, but yeah, I'd have liked to have seen a bit more beforehand.
I will give a Kleenex warning, though. If you've read Taylin's Temptation, you'll remember the incredibly sad circumstances of a certain factory. Well, not only do we revisit that particular moment, but we also go past it, with some tragic and happy events. My eyes were leaking, but as Frey says, blame it on the hormones.
I loved returning to this world and look forward to seeing them on the ranch for the next book, which is Silas and Ziggy's.

Book 2 continues where Book 1 stopped - Tarek is still Warden of Arcus and Lena is still on Earth. He can talk to her every night but she can't respond. What a heartbreaking way to start the book!
This book is building up to so much more than 'just' a romance. It is full of action, humour, double-crossing, rivalry and even loss. Lena has grown up a lot since the first book but still has some to do, and Wilma is more than happy to help set her straight. The pace of the book is fast although not frantic. There are events that need to happen, and they do. It is not all sweetness and light though.
I love the characters in these books as they all have depth and their own personalities. Farren's relationship with Lena is simply fantastic and they have the unconditional love and support of each other that nothing can break (I hope!). The emotional range in this book will draw you in before it tears you apart. I don't like talking too much about the story as you have the synopsis for that - but one that that I really need to say is that you NEED to read this series. I was in tears by the end of the book, totally side-swiped by an event that I just never saw coming because I was too wrapped up in the story. What happens after said event is even worse and I really, really need the next book, like now, just to ensure that all will be well.
If you like fantasy then get your grubby mitts on this series because, trust me, it's a brilliant one! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

This book is building up to so much more than 'just' a romance. It is full of action, humour, double-crossing, rivalry and even loss. Lena has grown up a lot since the first book but still has some to do, and Wilma is more than happy to help set her straight. The pace of the book is fast although not frantic. <b>POV:</b> Multiple. <spoiler>The biggest issue I have with this book.</spoiler>
<b>Descriptive Sex:</b> Yes.
<b>OW/OM:</b> Yes. <spoiler>Sort of? Walker does kiss an ex-<i>lover</i> while Elissa and Walker are together. Said ex is also married and I just do not see why it had to be included. Also, as mentioned in other reviews, if there's an ex or dead spouse that aren't physically there but still deters the relationship, I would include it OW/OM drama. In this case, Walker's (dead) ex-high school girlfriend is why he doesn't want to commit.</spoiler>
<b>Separation:</b> No.
<b>Content Warnings:</b> domestic abuse, child abuse, drugs, and mention of abortion.
<b>★★½</b>
If this book was purely Elissa and Walker's story, got rid of that ridiculous Naomi scene (re: OW/OM), and didn't rush the ending, then this would've easily been four stars for me. This book suffered from the randomly scattered scenes in the POV of Walker's siblings. I know it was done because this is a continuous story of these siblings that spans over four books, but I really don't want to read about these characters with OW/OM then in their book they end up with someone else <spoiler>(I'm only assuming this is the case in [b:Delicious|73069|Delicious (Buchanans, #1)|Susan Mallery|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1388274581l/73069._SY75_.jpg|70723] since we see Dani with someone in this novel before her book. Also assuming <i>Delicious</i> involves Naomi and Walker which I'm glad I passed over otherwise I wouldn't make it through this. Although if it doesn't then that makes the Naomi scene even more pointlessly thrown into this book)</spoiler>. Which is why I don't plan on continuing or going back. I did really like Elissa and Walker individually as well as together though. It was touch and go since there is a lot of push and pull when I think Elissa deserved definitiveness.

I had seen both reviews were people loved this book and others found it pretty annoying and far too girly, so wasn’t sure what I would think but kept an open mind. It ended up being such an easy read, and one that I didn’t want to put down (and tried to power through after a long day at work but ultimately had to give in to sleep!).
I found the little wedding notes inserted in between some of the chapters both quirky and funny, and it took a few of them for me to realise the food was exactly the same at all of the weddings. I also liked how her gifts got less and less extravagant the further through the book we got (the coins in the carrier bag being my favourite).
It’s very relevant, and I think most women will know what it’s like to feel pressured into going to every hen do (even if there are multiple for the same person) and every wedding that you are invited to, because you don’t want to upset anyone and hope that they will do the same for you when it’s your turn. And this book deals with that feeling while also making it clear that it’s ok to say no (most people aren’t invited to as many as Lilah is in one year though!).
I loved the email exchanges about the hen do, as we all know nobody reads the emails properly and someone will always ask a question that has already been answered! I had to really laugh at the parents phone calls to Lilah, and some of the insults they used really did entertain me.
It was predictable what was going to happen in some ways, but I think that’s what made it such an easy, enjoyable read for me. It was one that didn’t need much concentration for me to follow (unlike my previous few books) and it still had a good storyline.
I will definitely be looking at more of Lucy Vine’s books in the future!

Another easy reading Bridgerton book, I actually read this in one sitting! I just couldn’t find myself putting it down or even wanting to put it down.
Hyacinth’s story is very much how you would expect it to be from meeting her character in the other books, straight forward and to the point. We meet Gareth St. Clair and find out his secret that he will carry through the rest of the book very quickly, and we understand the exact reason why him and his father are estranged.
The relationship between Hyacinth and Gareth isn’t quite as frustrating as the ones that have come before, again very much in keeping with Hyacinth’s character, she sets her mind to it quite quickly after meeting him properly and it is obvious that she will manage to get her own way. But it is still fun to read all the same.
Throughout the book, we also have the mystery of Gareth’s grandmother’s diary and the problem of it being written in Italian (which of course Hyacinth knows and is more than happy to help try to translate) which adds more to the mystery and quite possibly why I couldn’t put this book down.
I also enjoyed that rather than it be letters that started the chapters, it was like reading a book in a book about the actions of them. I can only presume that this idea came from the off handed comment from Lady Danbury when Hyacinth was reading to her one day, that they should in fact write their own book. It was quite clever and meant that some parts of the book could be quite neatly summed up with these parts and the story could be quickly moved on.
I am definitely enjoying this series, and although I want to read the final two books as soon as possible, I think I will be sad when I finally do finish them!

This book takes us on the journey of Lady Tremaine and her daughters - the stepmother and stepsisters of Cinderella. We spend the majority of the book getting to know Lady Tremaine before she met Cinderella’s father, and I actually quite liked her character. She lost her husband six years before the start of this book and has ended up spoiling her daughters in their shared grief, trying to make up for them only having one parent. She does decide that she’s spoiled them too much and she needs to be discipline them more and so as a punishment ends up going to a friend’s house in the country without them. There she meets the man of her dreams, Sir Richard.
This book doesn’t go the way that the Cinderella story does, where we think that Cinderella was the only person that was horribly mistreated. We see the reasoning for why Lady Tremaine in the future orders Cinderella to clean the house from top to bottom and adding in ridiculous requests at the same time. Once you have read the story, it’s completely understandable. Although, I will admit that at some stages you know that she has pushed the boundaries too far.
I was also quite glad at the reappearance of the Odd Sisters, although the time line is hazy but I would guess that it was before the events of The Odd Sisters book. I would also like to learn more about the stories that the Book of Fairytales has in, this may possibly be the stories that Serena Valentino is writing and all of these books will create her own Book of Fairytales? Only time will tell. I am hoping that Serena Valentino is in the process of writing more of these books, because I think the series is extremely clever and I do enjoy the fact that they are quick reads that are very interesting.

I have never yet been disappointed by a Sara Dobie Bauer book and FATE OF THE MOON wasn't going to break that trend!
The society that Shay lives in is very... protective of its Omegas. Some may even say backwards or stifling. But that's the way it is. Shay is lucky in that his parents allowed him more freedom than most. That didn't help him when his parents were brutally murdered though, or when he became the prime suspect. He is struggling to survive, sinking deeper into depression every day. That is until Alfie comes along. Alfie is an Alpha with no intention of ever mating. He just wants to do his job and report on the Omega murderer. Everything changes when these two actually meet.
Lots of things stand in the way of Alfie and Shay's HEA - societal norms, snobbery, business dealings, oh, and a murderer! I loved reading about how life was and how they both wanted to change it. I can't say as the Big Bad was a surprise but I adored how it was written.
One thing I have to comment on is the Insta-Bond. I loved it. Being a fan of paranormal books, I am used to Insta-Love but this? This was a whole new ballpark. The fact they couldn't physically be far apart, the way it showed up in blood tests, all of this was new to me and I found it brilliant.
All in all, this was a great read from beginning to end. I was hooked on every word and I am really hoping there is more to come from this world. Absolutely brilliant and definitely recommended by me.

SHADOW BOUND is the first book in the Shadow series, starting off with the Daughter of Death, Talia. Not only that, but you get a nice prologue that tells you about the love between her father and mother, and just what their situation was. I really liked that.
After the prologue, you move forward twenty-six years to find Talia packing for a new job after successfully defending her dissertation. All that changes when two Wraiths force their way into her home and kill her flatmate. Talia goes on the run, successfully hiding for a few months until her luck seems to run out. While this has been going on, Adam has been searching for her. She is the only one so far he has found that mentions 'Shadowman' and he is desperate to find her. He does, in the nick of time, and that's when the fun really starts.
Talia doesn't simply turn into a kick-ass bad-ass b!tch. Nope, she claws her way through her instincts to run and hide, only really coming into her own during the last part of the book. Adam is a bitter, arrogant jerk (with reason) who wants to use Talia at the beginning and, by the end, will do anything to protect her.
This is a fast-paced story that will keep you turning the pages. The world-building was great and really helped to set the scene, not only for this book but also for the others in the series. Talia and Adam are ably supported by a fascinating group of characters that I hope will be in later books. I found it to be a great start to the series and look forward to Custo's story, which is next.
