While some of the Pendergast books can be read as standalone thrillers, whether or not you’ve read the rest of the series, you really do need to have read a lot (if not all) of the previous books to appreciate this one. While it’s very hard to say much about it without using spoilers, I can say that this story is very much character driven, and you need to understand the relationships and motivations of the characters in question for the story to make sense. While there is more action than usual for Proctor in this installment, overall the style of the story makes it move along a little more slowly than most books in the series. While I did like the book, I can’t say that I was completely happy with the way things were wrapped up, or with the amount of page-time Pendergast actually gets in this novel. It left me wanting more, but I guess that in itself is a good thing!

Longtime fans of the Pendergast series should enjoy this one, but I’d recommend starting back with Relic if Pendergast is new to you!

Well first off let me say that it must have been a good 5/6 months since I read Crescendo, book 2 in the Hush, Hush series and with the number of books I get through in a month, I'll admit I'd forgotten a lot of what went on in the first two.
 
However, this book was kinda perfect in that respect since I felt like Nora with her amnesia and got to relive a lot of the first two books as she did.
 
I still love Patch and think he's one of the best things about the series. There's just this bad boy/kick arse vibe going on with him that I find a little...hot?
 
And let me tell you, some of the scenes in this between him and Nora are scorching and getting hotter, especially now she's aged a year.
 
I'm going straight onto Finale so I don't have the same problem I had between books 2 and 3 as I don't think the last book will be as co-operative plot wise.

I love Riley's writing style - I always get creeped out and spooked when reading these books. Granted, this is only the third book, but so what.
My most immediate consensus was that 'Lock Every Door' would reveal itself as a paranormal genre. I wasn't sure how I felt about that, considering Riley's previous books were mystery/suspense, but I grew to like the idea.
Honestly, this book could have ended in any number of ways and I probably would have been satisfied. Genuine disappointment ensued when Jules first believed a cult lives in the Bartholomew; not because the culprit wasn't of paranormal nature, but because it was so outlandish. However, as hard to believe as it may be, I was more intrigued by what was truly going on and the fact it had been happening for so many generations. The entire mystery was still a bit absurd, but it appealed to me more than the cult theory.
While I may not have enjoyed this book as much as the first two, I still consider myself a Sager fan. I'm excited to see what's in store for any future books!

THE HEALER is a prequel novella to Conor and Rhiannon's story in the Bloodlines series. It features Conor's sister, Brynn, as one of the main characters, plus Macsen, who works with the blacksmith and bowyer. It tells how Kelnore first arrives on Pern Coen and what happens when they do.

What a fantastic prequel this was! Brynn was a fascinating supporting character in Conor's books, and I'm so happy to have this one from her perspective. It explains so much about the following books that you won't even be aware of - unless you've already read them, as I have. What it did for me was to make me want to read Bloodlines all over again!

I loved returning to Pern Coen and can't wait to see what happens next. I would love more from this timeline as I'm very greedy!

Absolutely unputdownable and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED by me.
