Another corker from Jodi
I was almost not looking forward to reading this book as normally Jodi Picoults books put me through the emotional wringer. However, this one left me (mostly) dry eyed. Don’t get me wrong, I love a blub more than most people but it’s nice to occasionally finish one of her books without being covered in tears and snot!
Despite this, it is an awesome book. I’m not going to divulge the story but it’s basically about racism and people’s perceived attitudes to it. The 3 points of view are Ruth Jefferson, a black nurse. Turk Bauer, a white supremacist and Kennedy McQuarrie, a lawyer.
It’s well thought out and you can really get under the skin of the character. A really good read, one I would probably read more than once.

I love this series like crazy! In fact, I love all the authors work that I've read. 5 books so far and counting!
Then I have to answer Lindsay's question featured in her FAQ section. My answer is YES! I do want Amaranthe and Sicarius to get together eventually! It isn't enough for me to read him telling her "he cares"! I want romance! Please let there be romance in the next 5 books!
And back to the review. Well, if I'm honest, I cant really remember the first one. I remember it involved Sespian and that he quite liked Amaranthe but I remember very little about her gang, otherwise known as "The Emperor's Edge", or the rest of the plot. It was nice getting to know them all again.
I cant recommend this series enough!

I fell in love with Dex in this so quickly. It was pretty clear that he had feelings for Iris from early on and I was glad we didn't have to wait until 95%+ for them to get together like in some of the authors other stories.
I'm not a big fan of reading books that centre around MC's but this one is no longer the rule breaking, drug smuggling, beating-people-up club that it used to be and they are actually all pretty decent guys so I actually enjoyed reading about them going straight.
I also have a big thing for tattoo's so them working in a tattoo shop was pretty cool--I still think she should have gone ahead and let Slim or Dex tattoo the rainbow breathing dragon on her.
I cannot wait to read more of Mariana's books.

Hmm, I dunno how I feel. I never really connected with this series when I started reading the second book a week or so ago. It had been too long since the first and my taste in books changes pretty regularly.
I wanted them to figure out the Republic/Colonies argument but at the same time I wasn't that bothered. I didn't even read it all, I skimmed a lot of it near the end. The only thing I truly felt passionate about was that Commander Jameson had to die and I read that bit in detail.
The other thing that kinda threw me a bit was when Day woke up near the end and didn't remember some things. I felt a little cheated. Ten years? Really?
Ugh. Not sure if I'll read other books by the author at this point.

After watching The Lightning Thief I gave up hope in this movie series but I am a huge fan of the books so I watched this when it came out in theaters and it somehow managed to still disappoint me! I went in with the lowest expectations possible and it still seemed like a big disappointment. They attempted to fix things that fans were upset about in the first movie and I also felt like they knew that this was the last movie they could make in the series. As a way to finish off the series they then tried to combine parts of the other books and it just left huge plot holes and created a very confusing storyline. I would never recommend this and it is probably one of the worst movies I have ever seen.
Finale
I really enjoyed the first two books which were set during the two games of Caraval that the two sisters Scarlett and Donatella were involved in. This one not so much. There wasn't a game as such, it was more about saving the land from an evil tyrant.
The concept of the Fates was good. I think in a book written for adults this could have been explored in more depth, but this is for a younger audience so detail was lost.
And oh for goodness sake, what's with all the kissing!!!! It is essentially a book about love, and obviously for a YA audience (the main characters are about 16 and 18) but there was just too much of it.
