The plot: Tragedy strikes on April 15, 2013, when two bombs explode during the Boston Marathon. In the aftermath of the attack, police Sgt. Though Gordon Green is probably right that “Stronger” won’t please everyone, it should. Between all the crying and yelling and the Boston accents, “Stronger” is an actor’s movie. Gordon Green’s touch is subtle.

This book blew my mind, and I haven't said that about any book in quite awhile. *SPOILER* The story bounces back and forth between Boston and Botswana. The entire time I assumed everything happening in both places was happening at the same time, but about halfway through it is revealed that the events in Botswana actually happened six years prior to what was happening in Boston. I literally had to stop and say "What??" out loud. Loved it, one of the best R&I books yet.

Berg and Wahlberg up the ante
Wahlberg teams up again with Peter Berg following their other recent collaboration, Deepwater Horizon and they both up their game with this movie. Wahlberg's performance is fantastic in this as a Boston cop dealing with a chaotic situation. The direction is also great and the sound design is well implemented. The film is upsetting at times, as it cover such a tragic event, but it is also uplifting and is something that the people of Boston should be proud of.

A KITTEN FOR DADDY is part of the Pride Pet Play series featuring different authors. I have read and enjoyed this author's works previously but something about this one just didn't push all the buttons for me.

We have Kolly, a shy, flexible kitten who wants to be looked after, not just have a hook-up. And then there's Boston, who wants more and doesn't think he'll get it. Boston helps Kolly when he is in a situation completely out of his comfort zone and it quickly moves on from there.

These two are hot in the bedroom but I would have liked more of a connection between them at other times. Some of the things Boston send were just... strange, to me. And I really disliked how he kept telling Kolly how he always did this with "his boys." Surely, if you're trying for a relationship, the last thing you do is constantly bring up those from your past. For me, this is definitely more about pet play than age play. Boston wanted a kitten, not a boy.

Overall, this was an enjoyable story, just not one of my favourites. I'm sure it will tick boxes for plenty of others though.

"This is another terrific piece of journalism written years ago about an even earlier time. It’s a portrait of the city of Boston during the racial strife of the ‘60’s and ‘70s. Lucas tracks the lives of three families — African-American, Irish, and upwardly mobile Yankee — to bring the struggles of that era back to life."

20 years ago, the small Boston town of Exeter was rocked when it was learned the Boston mob was using the swamp to dump bodies. Now, Rick, the son of one of the men convicted as a result, is moving back to town. And his old friends don't know what to make of it. I could not put this book down, literally reading most of it in one day. While not a mystery, the tension is still very real, and the characters are so great you want to root for them. NOTE: Jennie is a friend who sent me the book for free. I honestly can't wait for the sequel to come out.

Hamish DeLuca and Regina “Reggie” Van Buren have a new case—and this one brings the war in Europe dangerously close to home.

Determined to make a life for herself, Regina “Reggie” Van Buren bid goodbye to fine china and the man her parents expected her to marry and escaped to Boston. What she never expected to discover was that an unknown talent for sleuthing would develop into a business partnership with the handsome, yet shy, Hamish DeLuca.

Their latest case arrives when Errol Parker, the leading base stealer in the Boston farm leagues, hires Hamish and Reggie to investigate what the Boston police shove off as a series of harmless pranks. Errol believes these are hate crimes linked to the outbreak of war in Europe, and he’s afraid for his life. Hamish and Reggie quickly find themselves in the midst of an escalating series of crimes that seem to link Boston to Hamish’s hometown of Toronto.

When an act of violence hits too close to home, Hamish is driven to a decision that may sever him from Reggie forever . . . even more than her engagement to wealthy architect Vaughan Vanderlaan.

My Thoughts: I had a hard time starting into the book but as the reader gets further along in the storyline, it becomes a very interesting read. This is a second book in the series, and I do recommend to the readers that they read the first book "Murder at the Flamingo" to help get to know the main characters a little better. A murder mystery with a little romance as Hamish has to deal with his feelings toward Reggie, being friends and co-workers for two years. This novel takes place in the 1940's pre-war era, with the main character Hamish trying to get past his relationship with a shady cousin.

It was interesting to learn a little about Boston; especially the housing situation during that era. The writer has an enjoyable style of writing that brings the characters to life for the reader. This is a good book for those who love mysteries.

I thought this installment was a nice game. I liked that there was plenty to explore. I was not impressed with the making of settlements, but that is just not my cup of tea. I liked the location, but i also currently live near boston area so was kinda cool to see what area might look in apocalyptic era.
