ArecRain (8 KP) rated Vampire Bites in Books
Jan 18, 2018
It's been awhile since I read vampire stories, but his boxset was a great way to reintroduce myself back into them. What I love about (quality) box sets is that if one story isnt for you, you can move on to one that is. I have read some pretty garbage boxsets, but in this one, even if I dont like the story, I cannot find fault in the writing. These authors are talented and know how to write.

Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Wilde Card (Immortal Vegas, #2) in Books

3.5 stars.
I got a little lost in the middle but this series is all action, action, action. From pretty much the first page Sara is on a hunt that turns quite entertaining and it didn't stop there.
I am enjoying this series, the whole tarot card thing is different to normal and though I know nothing of it, I'm learning little bits here and there.
Looking forward to reading more of Sara and the Magician, and whatever is currently blooming between them.
Off to start the last book in the trilogy boxset.

Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Born To Be Wilde (Immortal Vegas, #3) in Books

*Read as part of the 1-3 boxset*
I was more into this than the previous ones, the series is now starting to progress at speed, with more players coming into the game in relation to the tarot cards and their representatives. Very interesting concept, although I admit I know nothing about it at all, so Sara's explanation when she reveals her picks are rather interesting.
The thing that started in book 1 with Sara and the Magician progressed quite a lot in this one, and I have to say I was excited for it happening.
Cannot wait to read book 4.

Merissa (12058 KP) rated The Complete Love Mark Box Set by Linda Kage in Books
Jul 7, 2022
This is a review for The COMPLETE Love Mark Boxset, which features stories about Erick and Ianna, Urban and Vienne, Nicolette and Farrow, Indigo and Quilla, Olivander and Unity, and Dori and Xavier. You also get Allera and Brentley's story thrown in for good measure.
This boxset/world shines a whole new light on the insta-love/lust trope as those from High Cliff have a tattoo near one of their eyes that tells them when they have found their true love. When that happens, all reason and rational behaviour go out of the window, leaving only burning lust. Along the way, we get the stories from the couples and the overall story arc that links them all together.
I enjoyed all the stories, some more so than others but the one character I absolutely loathe is Nicolette. I coped with her in Urban and Vienne's story as she was only a teenager. I had to force myself to finish her book, although I loved Farrow, and despised her in Dori's story. And she's not in it for long! Just long enough to remind me why I disliked her so much.
To be perfectly honest, I would not recommend reading this as a boxset but as more individual stories. So long as you can remember the overall story arc you should be okay, but there is a lot of repetition about just what the love mark means, how it makes you behave, plus other things, that become obvious when you read them back-to-back.
This was a new-to-me author and I am intrigued enough to look for other books by her. I have no hesitation in recommending this series but with the caveat already mentioned.
** same worded review will appear elsewhere **
* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and the comments here are my honest opinion. *

Kelly Rettie (748 KP) rated Tokyo Ghoul, Vol. 1 in Books
Jul 7, 2020
Captivating in the first few pages
Story follows a young guy who is badly injured in an accident and receives an organ transplant with a ghouls organ. When he recovers from surgery learns that he has now become half ghoul half human and needs to eat human flesh to survive. The set of books follow his journey as he adapts to his new life and increasing powers in a constant battle between ghouls and ghoul hunters..... I won't say anymore so as not to spoil the story, but if you like manga, definitely recommend this boxset. 😊
