BookwormMama14 (18 KP) rated Maggie Bright: A Novel of Dunkirk in Books
Jan 2, 2019
The entire history of the world is about to change as Hitler marches his troops across Europe. Can the actions of one person make a difference?
Clare Childs has mysteriously inherited the Maggie Bright. Her suspicions that Maggie holds a secret are proven when a thief comes aboard. Clare is suddenly thrown into the middle of a Scotland Yard investigation that could finally expose one of Hitler's darkest schemes. While on the other side of the channel, Private Jamie Elliot has been tasked with the mission of returning a wounded captain home. The captain has suffered a head injury and the only words he speaks are quotes from John Milton's Paradise Lost. When Churchill calls for civilians to help rescue the stranded British Army from Dunkirk, Clare knows that Maggie must go. Piloted by William Percy, a detective inspector and Murray Vance, a world renowned cartoonist, the Maggie Bright goes to war.
“You can never get a cup of tea large enough or a book long enough to suit me.” - C.S. Lewis
Never have these words rung more true for me than when I finished reading Maggie Bright. I wish the story would go on and on. I absolutely love reading about World War II. There is so much evil during this period, but there is also hope and light. Nations coming together with a singular purpose. Fighting and dying side by side. I am ashamed to admit that most of my knowledge of WWII begins with D-Day and America's involvement. My eyes have been opened wide with England's trials at the beginning of the war. I cried four times while reading this book! The horror is real, the fight unbearable, yet the men and women who sacrificed everything did so for us today. So that we might have hope and know that no matter how dark things become, we shall press on to victory.

Merissa (12165 KP) rated The Cowboy and the Outcast (Farthingdale Valley #3) in Books
Sep 29, 2023
THE COWBOY AND THE OUTCAST is the third book in the Farthingdale Valley series. We see Gabe and Blaze, as well as Royce and Jonah, but it's time for Marston and Kell to take the spotlight - somewhere neither of them likes to be!
Kell had the perfect life, a good kid, with a bright future waiting for him. That is until he came out. And then that life crumbled - painfully and horribly. My heart broke for him, it really did. Marston, well, Marston didn't have that bright future but he did the best he could with what he had. I would have liked more about his past - as he grew older, if his siblings ever made an appearance (although I'm guessing not).
So many parts of this story touched me, some in a very personal manner. The writing is simply first-class. The actions and reactions are all understandable and make 100% sense to the person involved. There is no unnecessary drama and yet my eyes were still leaking on more than one occasion.
And one other thing... I'd love to hear more about Bede!!! Just saying!
The best of the series so far, in my opinion, and that's saying a lot as I thoroughly enjoyed every word of the previous books. HIGHLY recommended by me.

Ruthless ( The Privileged of Pembroke High 4)
By Ivy Fox
⭐️⭐️
Since before I could even spell the name Grayson, I only had eyes for one boy—my perfect, larger than life best friend, who always managed to bring his bright light into my very dark existence with just one of his boyish smiles.
With Chad, I could forget the dismal life I had of being the flawless privileged daughter of a cruel, evil man.
He was my escape.
My solace.
My hope that one day I’d be free of it all and live how I always envisioned with my green-eyed boy at my side.
He was my everything until the devil’s piercing black eyes seduced him away from me.
They call him Saint, but heaven is not at fault for his pitiful creation.
Only the devil could produce such mouth-watering beauty to hide the ugliness that dwells inside.
He’s the demon that terrorizes my days and haunts my restless nights.
Saint wants to steal all that I love, believing he can beat me, but the fool has another thing coming.
I’m Eleanor Grayson, b*tch.
You want a fight, Saint?
Well, I’ll give you one you’ll never forget.
I was born and bred to be ruthless.
By the time I’m through, not even hell will recognize you.
Got to admit I wasn’t keen on this one! Think i expected more as the I really enjoyed the first 3 something was missing. This is the start of Elles story but I honestly struggled.

Bong Mines Entertainment (15 KP) rated Cry Baby (Pt. 1) by Maja Francis in Music
Jun 7, 2019
Maja Francis is an Electro-Pop singer outta Stockholm, Sweden. Not too long ago, she released an excellent EP, entitled, “Cry Baby (Pt. 1)” EP.
I’M NOT A DISCO
Francis sings about being lonely and dancing on the dancefloor with tears in her eyes. She needs human contact from someone she’s currently in love with.
But there’s one problem. That person has his eyes on someone other than Francis.
Also, Francis makes it clear that she’s too real to get caught up in the bright disco lights. What she needs is a kiss under the moonlight around a warm fireplace.
FEEL
Francis recites a poem about her feelings. She urges listeners to wear their feelings like a tiara. Also, she sings about expressing yourself while in public.
STRESSED
Francis realizes her failed relationship started well but has now turned sour. She mentions crying her eyes out when the relationship was over.
Also, deep within, she wants to know why? Why did he leave her stressed out? It’s bad enough feeling lonely, but seeing him on the street is unbearable. Usually, she’s expressive. But when she sees him, she can’t utter a word.
SAVED BY THE SUMMER
Francis shines brightly on our favorite song on the EP. Her warm voice sounds wonderful and expresses the warmth of a summer vacation filled with lots of fun. No longer does Francis think about her ex? She has moved on to bigger and better thing.
BREAK
Francis recites a poem about her mental state of mind after her breakup.
CRY BABY
Francis ends the project with a lovely ballad. During a previous interview, she told us that this was her favorite song on the EP.
Francis sings that it’s therapeutic to cry. Also, crying is a prerequisite for letting go of a hurtful past.
CONCLUSION
Maja Francis’ “Cry Baby (Pt. 1)” EP is an excellent project filled with heartfelt tunes, relatable lyrics, and an evergreen theme. Also, it guides listeners on a recovery path towards achieving happiness after a hurtful breakup.
