"I discovered Flipper when I was in Boston. I was in a record shop and I saw a sleeve on the wall - one of those more expensive ones that still wasn't very expensive. But there's something about the cover that made it seem along the lines of the DIY things I'm really into. So I bought it without hearing it and it was brilliant. It was like a kind of insane... well Public Image Ltd are already insane. But it was like an even more insane Public Image Ltd, with an amazing groove and totally demented vocals. I really got into them with that record and the first one - Album – Generic Flipper - is also brilliant. That's another example of a really bad sleeve actually... it's pretty awful. The fish logo, worn by Kurt Cobain or not, is pretty terrible. With Flipper it makes sense though. It's a bit like the Jesus Lizard, where they're trying deliberately to piss you off."

This Is Spinal Tap (1984)
This Is Spinal Tap (1984)
1984 | Comedy

"I guess I’d have to say This Is Spinal Tap. I don’t know that many movies made me laugh as hard as that did — the first few times I saw it, anyway. I haven’t seen it in a while, but I know that at some point I will watch it again and laugh anew at it. That movie is just so brilliant. It captures something from a period in rock and roll that, even though I wasn’t there, it just feels so right. It feels like, “Oh, yeah, this is based on something real.” That time in rock and roll, and these guys are not that far off from real rock and rollers of a certain band. And it’s just brilliant. I mean, it’s just so well done, and just so funny. I mean, they were such an amazing team: Michael McKean, and then Rob Reiner directing, and Christopher Guest. You know, it’s a masterpiece, a comedy masterpiece."

Not as bad as I had thought it would be
I had heard bad things about this movie so I was not expecting much. I was however pleasantly surprised.
The storyline actually made sense, it flowed well but I do feel that it was too long, with some parts I felt could have been shortened, runtime is 139 minutes, probably could have cut down some of the slower parts of the film.
The aliens are pretty cool actually, they remind me of ones from different films but at the same time is unique to this film. I particularly liked all its arms and how they move.
Chris Pratt is brilliant as always, but the rest of the cast are brilliant as well, they all work well together.
Overall this film may not be the best but actually I really liked it, its different and the CGI and action is great.

This is most definitely one of my reads of 2020 and one that I can't recommend highly enough and although this is number 5 in the series, it can most certainly be read as a standalone - so what are you waiting for ... go buy it now!

With fantastic characters that you are drawn to and care about, an original and brilliant plot with twists and turns that keep you guessing, fast paced and so enthralling and riveting that you just have to read one more chapter and then one more and then ..... you get the idea 😊

I have read number 4 in the series "Thirteen" which was absolutely brilliant and one of my reads of 2018 and one of the best books I have ever read! I thought it couldn't be topped but "Fifty-Fifty" comes very, very close.

Thank you to Orion Publishing Group and NetGalley for my copy in return for an honest, unbiased and unedited review.

Brilliant thriller!
Brilliant films with really good characters.

The story line is amazing and allows your to fully understand the characters feelings and emotions and shows what there going through and how tough life is at this moment in time.

It all starts with a lady going through a tough divorce, she is already late trying to get her child to school she looses her biggest client and her soon to be ex-husband is making her life tough. Pulling up to a junction she honks her horn to a guy that doesn't seem to be moving........this was the wrong move as she soon learns this maniac doesn't let things go and begins stalker her and making her pay for her 'rudeness' and unforgiving personality. This is a matter of life and death as she puts everyone she knows in danger, plenty of gore and kept me in the edge of my seat throughout.

Highly recommended.

Brilliant Mystery Drama
A brilliant TV show, one of my favourites and one you can easily watch again. This is more of a how they did it as well as a Whodunit?
The title character works as an ideas man for a stage performing illusionist. Often working out very complex crimes with a reporter friend. Often these are locked room murders or other baffling cases that don't make sense. The ideas behind most stories are really good and it's fun trying to work them out. There is plenty of comedy as well and the cast work great together.
The last 2 series weren't as good as the earlier ones but still enjoyable. The best ones though are the longer special episodes, especially "The Grinning Man". If you didn't catch them all or missed it completely it's worth checking it out if you are a fan of Agatha Christie style murder mysteries. Available on BBC iplayer and Alabi on demand.

Sometimes I Lie
By Alice Feeney
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My name is Amber Reynolds. There are three things you should know about me:
1. I’m in a coma.
2. My husband doesn’t love me anymore.
3. Sometimes I lie.

Amber wakes up in a hospital. She can’t move. She can’t speak. She can’t open her eyes. She can hear everyone around her, but they have no idea. Amber doesn’t remember what happened, but she has a suspicion her husband had something to do with it. Alternating between her paralyzed present, the week before her accident, and a series of childhood diaries from twenty years ago, this brilliant psychological thriller asks: Is something really a lie if you believe it's the truth?

This was brilliant! I absolutely loved it dark and twisted. Sent you in so many directions and dealt with so many things. Very well written and can’t wait to read more from this author.

Bates Motel - Season 1
Bates Motel - Season 1
2013 | Drama
Brilliant "before he was a psycho" alternative view of the Norman Bates story. This series sees the family move to a town with something of a corrupt underbelly. The series doesn't look to explore Norman's "tendencies" as much as I might have expected, but the rest of the peripheral action makes it an excellent standalone series without Norman in it!
We start to see something of the psycho emerge towards the end of the series.
