Sylvester Stallone starring superheroics - his first since Judge Dredd? (not counting cameo in GotG vol 2) - - in which he plays the part of a recluse, who a young boy next door believes to be thought-to-be-dead superhero Samaritan, who supposedly died following a confrontation with his equally superpowered twin brother Nemesis twenty years earlier,
So it's immediately apparent where this one is going.
It's not bad, actually: just not brilliant. Think 90s style superhero films, before the MCU came to be.
Set your expectation accordingly.

Prepare to get musically scrooged.
In this alternative take on the much beloved Christmas classic, things are quickly changed up when the ghosts of Christmas's past, present and future begin to skip out on fulfilling their duties due to personal issues and one particular character who is unredeemable begins to question the past of of the ghost of Christmas present.
Great musical numbers, plenty of laughs and a brilliant alternative take make this a movie definitely worth watching.

The plot of the series is always brilliantly written (2 more)
Twists and turns around every corner
John Silver is charmingly brilliant
More plotting, more cunning, and more drama
So my season one review pretty much covered all I have to say about this show from what I have seen so far from my first viewing. The characters are brilliant and charming and the plot is brilliantly written with great twists and turns.
These points only become more evident in the second season. My favourite character has to be the man who has a larger role in the book (Treasure Island), and that man is John Silver. Luke Arnold is charming as John Silver, and the character himself is very cunning which makes for great entertainment as he constantly finds new ways for Flint's Crew, and other characters in Nassau, to NEED him alive so that he can survive any and all scenario's. Whether it's his way with words or his cunning ideas that he knows should work (and often do) that makes his character so impressive and brilliant.
The drama has always been gripping in this show, and the action is always leaving me on the edge of my seat because the twists and turns in this show more often than not, catch you off guard when written suddenly. Some of the twists are more obvious than others, they have a build up that make you sit there saying/thinking "They've done this..." or "This is going to happen..." Etc. But it doesn't make the show any less entertaining.
The conflict between Vane and Flint is always entertaining. Whilst Flint is the most feared among the pirates, Vane is certainly not far behind, and his stature towers above Flint's making him mean looking and not someone you'd want to mess with. Flint has the brains, Vane has the brawn and together they are a brilliant rivalry, even when they have to come together for a single purpose. They respect each other, and it shows, but they are both too proud to tell one another that they would be better working with one another rather than against.
The cast are all perfect to their roles, and the characters are all brilliantly written to for their purpose in the show.

Powerful and moving.
I was unable to put this book down from the start.
The book Thief is set in a WW2 Germany and follows the life of Leisel Merminger and her struggles in a Nazi Germany.
Before I go into more detail of the storyline I want to first mention how moving it is to see the second world war from a different perspective. I knew that the German people didn't have it easy during the war as well as the allies but it isn't often spoken about. The pressure that the German people were under to conform to the Nazi regime was imense and this book shows this perfectly. It outlines the day to day struggles of a regular family.
This book is a brilliant read and I feel the best part about it is that it is narrated by Death. This gives a little bit of humour to an otherwise quite intense and dark read.
I feel everyone should give this brilliant book a go.

Is this really Vince Vaughan?!
I'm reviewing this as S. Craig Zahler's newest film is out soon and I'm very much looking forward to it so I thought I'd review one of his previous films. Where as I really enjoyed his debut 'Bone Tomahawk' it's this film that is undoubtedly one of the best films of the last 10 years. Theres so much that blows me away in this film. The characters are portrayed so well that you are glued to the screen for each word of dialogue. The fight scenes, whilst being some of the most realistic I've ever scene, are also the most gory and visceral I've scene in a long time. The star of the show is Vince Vaughan in one of the most surprising & unexpected performances ever. Gone is his typicsl comedy and wise cracking and he is terrifying but you're also sympathetic to his situation. Just a brilliant piece of acting in a truly brilliant film by one of the best film makers around at the moment. I cannot wait for 'dragged across concrete'.
