First off, I want to thank the authors for sending me a copy of this book in return for an honest review; please be reassured that receiving this book for free in no way influenced my review in any way.
What a fantastic read that was!
Excellent characters, brilliant and unique story line, gripping and full of suspense what more can you ask for? Well, throw in a serial killer and a deadly flu virus and you have Silent Fear! But thats not all the Morcans write in a way that immerses you into the story so that you become absorbed into the lives of the characters and the dire situation they have found themselves in through no fault of their own.
I have to admit that it was quite daunting to find my Kindle copy was 708 pages long!! Thats one heck of a beast, however, you quickly forget that as you are swept along from chapter to chapter with ease picking up the subtle clues dropped along the way that you dont initially recognise as being clues until the excellent twist at the end when all is revealed.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good whodunnit or mystery or thriller or serial killer story or actually, anyone who loves reading a great book and I would urge you to check out the Morcans other works some of which I have been lucky enough to have also read- see my blog for the links - <a href="https://readingstuffnthings.blogspot.co.uk/2017/12/silent-fear-by-lance-james-morcan.html">Reading Stuff 'n' Things</a>.

Misdemeanor (Responsible Adult #1) by C.F. White
Now, first thing I must say is that if you are looking for something light and fluffy, full of sparkles and rainbows, then you have definitely got the wrong book! Misdemeanor is a dark, gritty piece of work, telling how one man is trying to do the right thing after doing so many wrong things. How he doesn't think he deserves help, or anything good in his life, and the reasons why. You find out just how hard he is trying, and Micky will worm his way into your emotions without you even realising it. As for Flynn, well, I dare you to deny him entrance to your heart!
Dan and Micky appear to be complete opposites, but they are just what the other needs. With funny situations to lighten up the darkness at times, this is a hard-hitting book that will stay with you. Trust me, it's not all good. And at times characters act like first-class jerks, but that just gives it that slice of realism.

Dan and Micky appear to be complete opposites, but they are just what the other needs. With funny situations to lighten up the darkness at times, this is a hard-hitting book that will stay with you. Trust me, it's not all good. And at times characters act like first-class jerks, but that just gives it that slice of realism.

Finding Home by Meg Harding
Finding Home starts off with Jared. He has lost his job, is living back with his mother as his husband cheated with someone else, and now he finds out that his grandma has died. His mother wants him out of the house so she sends him off to hell (Florida in May) where he finds more than he bargained for, and learns about just who he is and what he wants.
This is a sweet and steamy, low angst, story full of feel-good factors. Jared's brothers are all brilliant, and Chase is... well, Chase is Chase and I wouldn't change a thing. Jared's neuroses were a tad annoying to start with, but as his story became clear, all was forgiven as I literally couldn't see him growing up any differently given the circumstances.
One thing I loved in particular (without giving away any spoilers) is when Jared does something that others might not agree with, but he does it for himself, for his own reasons, and to find things out about himself. I LOVED THAT!!! He is aware of what jumping into something might be like, but he is prepared to work with himself to ensure that everything goes the way it should.
With no editing or grammatical errors that disrupted my reading flow, this was a page-turner that had humour, family, hotness, and love. Definitely recommended by me.

A good film, not a good biopic

After all my friends have been obsessing over this film, I have finally watched it.
And I have to say, I was disappointed. Don't get me wrong, it is a good film with great visuals, the reshoot of Live Aid was brilliant, Rami Malek was at his best and the singing of Marc Martel was stunning.
But the film, which is supposed to be a biopic blatantly disregards reality or changes it dramatically for a better cinematic effect. While this not a rare thing, the affect of Brian May and Roger Taylor having so much control over the film simply resulted in a very opinionated film that, at least for me, does not do justice to Freddie Mercury or Queen.
The whole point of it being a biopic is lost when facts like how the band met or how Freddie started singing are completely changed, and even small ones, like his proposal, or crucial ones, like the well-known scandal of Live Aid are changed so much.
I did not judge the film based on this, but I think it's also important to note how the studio awarded director billing to Bryan Singer who abandoned the shoot two-thirds along and left Dexter Fletcher to try to pick up the pieces, finish the shoot, editing and any extra shoots. It's only an insult that after all this, they also put Singer forward for awards.
So I do admit that it is an entertaining and good film, but does not do justice to Mercury and can hardly be considered to be a good biopic.

Aquaman has never been my favorite hero among DC Comics. Nor have I ever liked him. Once I saw Justice League with Jason Mamoa cast as Arthur Curry/Aquaman, I fell in love with this representation of the character. The movie kept my attention the entire two and a half hours, the scenes were big and beautiful. Mamoa was the perfect choice for the role, everything just fits well with each other. The casting for the entire film was brilliant. There were bits and pieces in the film that my wife and I were sort of chuckling at, not as in humor but more so the designs of some things. (I tagged this review with spoilers because of this.) Arthur finds his mother in the center of the Earth and she explains he has to go fight a big monster to get the ancient trident he so desperately needs, pretty standard superhero stuff right? Arthur does all that stuff, he comes back up and in this beautiful, cinematic scene he's standing there looking at Mera and his Mother, it reveals the "Aquaman Suit." Now, the original Aquaman suit was an orange and green scaled onesie. Which this new suit definitely is, just more metal and pointy parts to it. It was hard to take the suit seriously, and maybe it was because the entire movie we were so used to seeing Jason Mamoa shirtless, that seeing his torso covered was just strange. Other than a few choice designs in the movie, it was amazing, it was great, it was entertaining. I highly recommend watching it if you haven't already.

A brilliant and unique story.
This is a fantastic start to a new series and I absolutely loved it. I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed this book.
The characters were well thought out and the way Scarlett wrote about them made them seem so real and unique. I loved the plot lines and I particularly loved the way all the characters interacted with each other and others.
I just found it totally unique. You cant help but feel like you really know the main characters. I cant wait to see whats going to happen in this series.

This is Not a Love Story (Love Story Universe) by Suki Fleet
"This is Not a Love Story" is both the title of the book, and a description of what it is about. This isn't a light and fluffy romance. This is hard-hitting, dark, and gritty, that tells you in no uncertain terms just how hard it is to be on the streets... and even then you can imagine it's a whole lot harder than even your imagination can go.
Remee and Julian have been there for each other over the past couple of years. Remee was just thirteen when he came to the streets, for reasons you find out. You don't know how old Julian was, but these two have bonded, for good, or so you hope. However, life on the streets is tough, and things happen to loosen that bond, possibly even break it.
There is so much that goes on in this story, and yet it all flows together perfectly. Remee may seem fragile, but his spine is made of steel. There is an outstanding supporting cast of characters too, with Crash topping the bill. He is brilliant, and I really hope to hear more about him soon.
With no editing or grammatical errors that I noticed, this story was one to pull me in, and keep me turning the pages long after I was supposed to have put it down. I have no hesitation in recommending this story.

This is the fourth Nathan Cody book. However, everything you need to know about Codys background is nicely covered in Your Deepest Fear so there is no chance you will fail to understand the significance of some of the bigger moments in this book.
This is a brilliant dark and twisted novel. It has short chapters which makes it a fast paced read and keeps the suspense built up.
Our lead is again Nathan Cody who is back after having being on forced leave due to mental anxiety/demons he is battling from the previous case. Still not being able to be full active duty he finds himself drawn into another investigation which will have him facing his demons.
Wow the twists and turns just keep the suspense ratcheted up and glued to the edge reading non stop.
A MUST READ, an easy five stars and so Highly Recommended.

Escape to the Stars (Galaxia Pirates #2) by A.M. Halford
Escape to the Stars is the second book in the Galaxia Pirates series. In this one, we find out more details about the stowaway, Sandy, who we met at the end of the first book. Brian is in charge of him, and once they find out he is branded with a slave mark, Brian knows that Sandy can't bunk in with the rest of the crew, so he has to share his room. The attraction Brian feels for Sandy is strong, but when he sees the fear in Sandy's eyes, he backs off. Sandy has been a sex slave, and programmed through hardship to react to any touch. Sandy decides that he will power through this and propositions Brian. Things seem to be working out for them, but then Sandy's owner, Sylvain, catches up with him.
This is an easy to read book, where you don't have lots of background information to bog you down. Some may find that annoying, but for me, this story was just perfect - it came at the right time and gave me what I needed from a book. What is there is well written, and features Tony and Craig from book one too. There were no editing or grammatical errors that disrupted my reading flow. This was a brilliant coffee break book, and definitely recommended by me.

Acting and script work was on point (2 more)
Costume and set design were perfect
Sound design and score kept my heart racing
Kept my heart racing from beginning to end
Dunkirk is a thrilling film that deserves the Oscar nomination that it has. Nolan has created a masterpiece using time and music to create an intensity that I have never felt before as a movie goer. The film used similar events at different times to mirror one another elegantly.
My heart was always in my throat. I cared about the characters and had a strong connection to the story. I am not a nationalist kind of person by any means, and this film made me ever so proud to be British. With stunning performances from this amazing cast, which made it a group performance without any star or lead actor.
Dunkirk handles the topics of war, death and desperation perfectly and with no nods to Germany or to anything related to the German socialist group. By making the film all about the British characters point of view and removing the name and enemy out of view was a beautiful decision. By this point in time we know about the world wars in depthly and there are many films that talk about it. But this is the first film that doesn’t harp on about the Germans being evil. It was a gorgeous film and one I wish I could see in cinema again, as it’s sound design and cinematography deserved a larger screen.
