Lindsay (1717 KP) rated A Heart's Disguise (A Journey of the Heart, #1) in Books

Feb 15, 2018 (Updated Apr 9, 2019)
This was a quick read. It introduces the characters. Sarah is grieving over her fiance who is Rand who is suppose to have died. Her father and older brother Wane, wants her married. Sarah pledges to Ben and then finds out Rand a live.

There Ben Croftner, who can not take rejection lightly. Ben does something and Rand comes to Sarah aid. We meet Rand family. We also she the surprise for the family and news for the family. What will happen next no one really knows.

What will Sarah decide to do. Sarah will need to take her younger brother Joel. It depends on what Sarah wants to do. Will she leave her father and go with Rand? What will Ben do or plan for that matter. It sure is mystery.

Returning to NYC to Help a Friend
It all starts with a phone call. Ricky Kidd is confused by the strange message, and he is certain it is a prank, expect for the fact that the voice sounds familiar. It’s a couple of hours later when he recognizes it as Brother Phillip, the man who had helped him track down his younger brother when Joel was kidnapped during the class trip to New York City back in the spring. When his father tries to find out what is happening with Brother Phillip, he discovers the mission the man run has burned down, and the police believe that Brother Phillip died in the fire. The only problem is, the fire took place before the phone call. Ricky is able to convince his family and friends, Ralphy and Mike, to change their Thanksgiving plans and go to the city, but when they arrive, things only get weirder. Did they really know Brother Phillip? Is he in danger? Or is he a criminal?

Unlike many middle grade mysteries, this one is a direct sequel to an earlier book. To completely understand the events that happen here, it is best to have already read LOST BENEATH MANHATTAN. But if you haven’t read that one yet, there is enough context here to follow the events as they unfold. And what a plot! While I remembered a few key things, like the climax, I was still caught up in the twists and turns. This book is a master class is dropping clues into a story, and I still marvel at how Mr. Brouwer does it. The characters are developed enough to make us care, but they are a bit on the thin side. The adult in me notices that, but as I’m reading I don’t care. The book was originally written for the Christian market, but the Christian elements aren’t overwhelming here. These stories were originally released in the 1990’s, so a few references are dated, but it isn’t enough to ruin the story in the slightest. This book is still as strong now as when I first read it. Readers of all ages will be thrilled they picked it up.

So the intent for this book was decent but it was very predictable
I was really more interested in the brother and there his mind set was at

Not a huge fan of the Main MC, she was very repetitive and gave in way to quickly.

I am continuing on through the next book to see how it all plays out.

I love this children's classic. Mary Lennox is sent from India to Misselthwait Manor where she meets Dickon the brother of Martha, one of the house maids, and Colin, the son of the owner of Misselthwait . Mary and Dickon find the secret garden that has been locked for many years and bring it back to life. This story is touching and captivating.

My absolute favorite book and book series. I first read this book when I was about 12 and fell in love with all the characters and avonlea. Anne an orphan girl goes to live with a brother and sister marilla and Matthew Cuthbert and it is all about Anne's adventures in her new home and the trials and tribulations of growing up.

This is the second book in the series. It follows Emily and her brother as they continue out on their journey to save their mother. Again, the artwork in this book is stunning, I had to stop and look at some of the pages that were just art. The author does a good job keeping the readers engaged in the story.

This is Canaan's debut album from 2015 and includes his #1 hit Love You Like That and third single Hole In A Bottle. The title track is about the death of his oldest brother.

I love this album and him in general. None of these songs have gotten old and I usually listen to this album at least weekly; if not daily.

Book 5 in the Nabari No Ou series continues the background story of Raimei and her brother on the opposite side, Raikou. We get to learn what happened in their family's past, and how they ended up on opposing sides. Miharu and Yoite are in contact with each other during book 5, as well, as they begin to put their plan in place.
