ClareR (6106 KP) rated Days of Light in Books
Nov 23, 2025
Days of Light tells the story of Ivy, from 1938 when she’s young and inexperienced, up to the 1990’s in her final years. Each time we step forward in time, we see Ivy on the same day. We see the consequences of her life choices, her losses and how she matures.
After the initial chapter where Ivy’s brother dies and she decides to marry a much older friend of the family, time jumps forward in decades to begin with, and longer periods of time nearer the end. Ivy joins a religious order as a nun, but I think this is largely because of the unresolved feelings she has for her friend, Frances.
There is a very spiritual feel to this novel: from the first chapter and the light that Ivy sees that distracts her from her brother drowning, her religious awakening, and the light she sees at the end of her life.
This was a lovely, gentle and thoughtful novel. It was an absolute pleasure to read.

The album of a generation
I don't think there's anyone around my age who didn't love this album as a teenager. It's possibly one of the best debut albums I've ever heard. There's a few standout songs (In The End, One Step Closer) but every song is fantastic in its own right. This is one of the few albums that myself and my brother can actually agree on, and even used to listen to it together when we were younger. Genius.

The illustrations are bright and colorful. The pictures represent the words in the book. The author did a really good job with it. It is good for young readers.
Young children can see the pictures while the parent, older brother or sister read the book. I like the fact that it easy poem and meaningful. The story has a moral and explains that God or our Lord created it. It has faith in it and explains it in the best way.

Anna has changed her name and moved across the country to get away from her past. But it all comes back to her when her brother goes missing. Does it have something to do with their past? I couldn't not put this book down. The plot was strong with enough clues to keep us going and confused. The characters were strong as well.

A very lovely coming of age story, centering on Dottie, a child of divorced parents. The story is told in a series of nearly 100 vignettes, each of which is filled with wit and vulnerability. During the course of the novel, Dottie struggles with moving, poverty, an alcoholic stepfather, questioning her sexuality, race relations, playing sports, and her relationship with her mother, half-brother, and stepsister. Her character exhibits amazing grace and presence of mind as she continually questions the world around her.

An amazing tale built of stars
Imagine someone that you share DNA and blood with, the person who is your tightest bond has committed an unspeakable crime against one of your best friends. Forced to deal with her own deep dark fears and the wave for pain in which her twin brother has created Mara stumbles, falls, and gets back up again to find her own voice in this incredible and extremely relevant tale. A strong message for girls I loved this book

The world's guilty pleasure
This show is the one that everyone likes, but few people, especially guys, will admit they like. The show centers around half brothers, one is the good guy raised by his mom, and the other guy is a douche bag. They of course get into this sort of rivalry when the good brother joins the school basketball team. It's a fun show, and easy to get into. Check it out!

This is my first book I've read by this author. It's a real page turner. I loved the flow, and how this author combined vampires and greek God's into the mix. I'm looking forward to reading more from Aimee.
This is a story about Jade. His twin brother Corbin and him will be put to the test. They both want Avery. Who will Avery pick? Read this book to find out. This will not disappoint.
I read this book for an honest review
