The Chocolate Lady (94 KP) rated The Light of Hidden Flowers in Books
Oct 5, 2020
Missy is 35, accomplished, intelligent, caring and it seems, happily single. Missy is also afraid of breaking out of her secure world. Then her father dies, leaving her a note that shakes her to her core. Read my review of this lovely novel about a quiet woman who becomes a heroine for the 21st century, here. https://tcl-bookreviews.com/2015/11/07/the-business-of-compassion/

Going Back to School is Murder
Madison Night needs cash to buy inventory to relaunch her decorating business. After the banks keep turning her down, she hopes that getting an MBA will change their minds. The only class she is finding helpful in the program is Radical Business Theory, even after the professor uses her as an example on her first day. However, when the professor is killed in the parking lot, Madison wonders what is going on at her new school. Can she figure out how to relaunch her business while also solving the murder?
This book really is focused on both parts of that question, and new comers to the series will definitely find the mystery slow as a result. As a fan of the series who is invested in Madison’s life, I found the dual focus enjoyable. It certainly helps that we have an ingenious murder method and a surprising yet logical climax. The characters, both new and returning, are great as always. Fans of Doris Day will laugh at the massive Easter Egg in this book, but if you haven’t watched the movies, you’ll be fine since the author uses the scene to advance the plot. If you are a fan of this mystery series, you’ll be happy with this book. If the series sounds fun to you, I recommend you start at the beginning.

Erika Kehlet (21 KP) rated Masking for Trouble (Costume Shop Mystery, #2) in Books
Feb 21, 2018
I think it would be great to live in a town that loves costume parties and Halloween this much! Margo is such a quirky character whether she is working in her familys costume shop or just running errands, shes always in costume. When a business man interested in developing the small town into something more modern and profitable threatens to run Margos shop out of business, she is understandably angry. When she finds his dead body at a Halloween party she wasnt invited to, she becomes the prime suspect. Rather than trust the police to find the real killer, Margo decides to investigate on her own. This was a unique story, and a perfect read for this time of year.

Richee (20 KP) rated Destiny 2 in Video Games
Dec 30, 2017
Boring gameplay (2 more)
Poor story
Learnt nothing from original
Shooting repetitively doesn't make a fun game
I completed the original Destiny and considered it a unfinished game, where you needed the DLC to make it a full game. I was hoping the sequel would at least try to release a full game at the start but no, same old problems remain. Plus Bungie and there dodgy business practices. Extremely disappointing.

One of your must reads
It maybe an old book (mentioning the great American depression more than once) but the information will never go out of date. As I stated it's not a light read but you get a history lesson, a self help and business book all rolled into one. It should be on the list of must read books in your lifetime.

BobbiesDustyPages (1259 KP) rated American Psycho (2000) in Movies
Feb 8, 2018
Never looked at business cards the same again.
American Psycho is one of the best Psychological Thrillers, Black Comedies, and Horror movies to date. Christian Bale plays Patrick Bateman so well that even though he is a psychopath you just can't help but like the guy even though you kind of want to punch him in the face at the same time.
Definitely, add this to your need to watch list.
Definitely, add this to your need to watch list.
The actress talks about her life in and out of show business. As a fan, I enjoyed it, although a couple of chapters went further than I needed them to go. Still, she comes across as fairly grounded and nice by the time you've reached the end.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2099 KP) rated At Wick's End (Candlemaking Mystery #1) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Harrison's great-aunt has died, and she left Harrison her candle shop. Harrison knows nothing about the business, but while trying to figure it out, he also figures out that his great-aunt was murdered. I like the character but the plot could have been better.
