Every wonder if you could travel back in time? But it feels so real that do you not know. A young woman some how travel back to the California gold rush Era. Once she does, she does not know why or the reason. She seem to take her time to adjust to the time period.

She meets a young man. She finds out that she need help a family get out of the family curse. To do this they need her. She learns about Indians culture and traditions. In the process she starts to fall in love with this young man.

She deals with this while her sister is still away. When she returns to her era, she does not know if she really was with a man named Reynard. She meets an Indian medicine man and go on a trip with her soul and life.

Will she end up going back to her husband? How did she travel back to her world and still be pregnant with a child? What Shape-Shifter animal does she become? What ever happens to Joseph? Will she fulfill the reason of the family curse?

This is a great book for those that enjoy history. If you are into historical fiction or California gold rush this is the book for you. Are you into time travel. This one is filled with it. The author does a beautifully good job with telling the story though Angelica's and her sister.

This was a super-cute Young Adult Romance. I actually read it for free off RivetedLit - it's free to read there through the end of July. I really enjoyed the change in formatting for the online conversations between Mink and Alex, and the explanation for why Bailey hadn't shared any identifying information online at all. That was pretty well done.

The book is a Young Adult take on the enemies-to-lovers trope, but it mostly avoided the "he picks on you because he likes you" line. The initial conflict between our two characters is really just due to misunderstandings, and the boy quickly apologizes. (With cookies!) I really enjoyed both of these characters, and I was definitely cheering for them as they revealed more of their histories and insecurities to each other.

I REALLY enjoyed their date to Monterey, California - they visited the Natural History Museum and the aquarium, both of which I have been to personally! I lived in Monterey many years ago, so it was neat to see them in a place I have personal memories of.

Overall, I thought this was an excellent young adult romance. There was some mention of sex, but nothing too graphic. I loved the setting; it brought me back to the Pacific Ocean, even if it was California beaches instead of the cold, rocky Pacific Northwest.

Essential Series Debut
After a scandal in San Francisco sent her packing, Carissa Carmichael has returned home to Oak Creek Valley in Southern California and has decided to open Aromatherapy Apothecary, a store specializing in essential oils. She is planning to work with her neighbor, who owns a candle shop, but the neighbor’s son, Russ, is certain that Carissa is going to steal business from his mom’s store. After a particularly nasty scene with Russ, Carissa enters her shop the next day to find his body in the back of her shop. Already convicted of the crime by local gossip and with the detective in charge of the case determined to find evidence to arrest her, Carissa sets out to prove her innocence. Can she do it?

I always love it when a debut cozy has characters who already feel like old friends, and that’s the case here. As we slowly meet Carissa’s family and friends, they form a great group I can’t wait to hang out with again. The suspects? They are great at keeping us confused. The mystery is good. I had some guesses on part of it, but I wasn’t sure until the end. The climax could have been stronger, but it did answer all our questions. As a Southern California resident, I loved recognizing some of the locations mentioned even if Oak Creek Valley is fictional. This is a fun debut you won’t want to miss.

California Storm ( Crown of Frost &Blood 4)
By CY Jones
⭐️⭐️⭐️

What do you when everything you hold dear is taken from you?

They came for me in the light of day, killed the man I love, and took me with them.

Then my kidnappers get robbed, and I’m taken again, thrown into a world my mom fled from. A world of sirens and mermaids where I find out I’m the Queen of them all.

I just graduated from high school, what do I know about being a Queen?

On the other side of the veil, everything is different.

The villain isn’t easy to pinpoint, and what I thought was the truth, turned out to be nothing but an elaborate lie.

Everything here is a game of power and strength and I’m just learning the rules. Do I fight for a world I was hidden from or swim away as fast as my tail can carry me?

Everything may be uncertain, but this I know. I’m California Azalea DelaCort and I will survive this storm.

I have loved this series and I really enjoyed this book about Cali who is Winters sister. The only thing was it seemed a little rushed and unpolished in places. Although by the end it did have me wanting the next book I need to know what happened to her!! It’s left on one hell of a cliffhanger.

The Kingdom Keepers are still on The Disney Dream and the passage from Florida to California. But they may have stumbled on a way to stop the Overtakers in their quest to take over the Disney theme parks.

The climax was great, but for the most part this book wasn't that different from the previous few. Very little changes or gets resolved. I'm hoping that will really change with the next in the series which is supposed to be the last. I'll definitely know that park the best since it is set at Disneyland.
