Didn't live up to the hype
This movie always pops up on every single must watch horror movie and too shocking movie list I have ever read so I thought I was going to be in for something really shocking but I was really let down on this one.
Whether it's true or not I remember reading that the director was arrested because people thought this movie was real but I just didn't see it, the movie is campy and sure it's pretty violent but not once did I find myself thinking it was real.

The one. The only. The classic.
One of the original boogeyman films is still a classic. Some common horror elements used even now originated in this film and still work.
No CGI or campy effects in this film, just raw suspense. Certainly not a hugely bloody or gory horror movie, it relies on light and dark and some use of the "jump scare" before it even had a name.
I can't get the eerie theme music out of my head!
Time to rewatch!

Andrew Furlong (14 KP) rated Star Trek III - The Search for Spock (1984) in Movies

Lots of campy fun in the vein of TOS (2 more)
Christopher Lloyd is a Klingon
Lots of good character moments
Not as many memorable moments (though there are a few) (1 more)
Does kind of feel like franchise maintenance (bringing back a fan favorite character)
A good movie overshadowed because it's in between two great ones
Search for Spock is a good movie, but is largely forgotten because it is in between two great ones. There's just not as much here to make it noteworthy as in II or IV. There aren't really any major problems though and it is a fun watch.
Movie Metropolis (309 KP) rated Final Destination 3 (2006) in Movies

Unfortunately, Final Destination 3 was an absolute disaster. What’s even more of a shame was that the incredibly talented Mary Elizabeth Winstead had to suffer through such an ordeal.
Moving away from the series’ horror roots and opting for a campy, horror-comedy vibe doesn’t sit well and the tasteless reference to 9/11 only sours the film further.
The main disaster, a rollercoaster accident, is reasonably inventive but lacks the exceptional practical effects that made the motorway pile-up in Final Destination 2 so deliciously enjoyable to watch.

I probably like this movie more than the people who made it!
"Father's Day" ...
"The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verrill" ...
"Something to Tide You Over" ...
"The Crate" ...
"They're Creeping Up on You" ...
The Crate is definitely my favorite, but all 5 segments are good in their own way. I love the use of color, the changing of color and the way George Romero made the film look and feel like the horror comic it is based on.
The campy feel is part of the fun, but the film still has some gory and chilling moments.
