Andy K (10823 KP) rated Creepshow (1982) in Movies

I probably like this movie more than the people who made it!
"Father's Day" ...
"The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verrill" ...
"Something to Tide You Over" ...
"The Crate" ...
"They're Creeping Up on You" ...
The Crate is definitely my favorite, but all 5 segments are good in their own way. I love the use of color, the changing of color and the way George Romero made the film look and feel like the horror comic it is based on.
The campy feel is part of the fun, but the film still has some gory and chilling moments.

Campy 80s goodness
I love movies like this in my basement alone the Saturday night before Halloween!
When a bunch of teenagers start coming up missing, the authorities are baffled. Who could be responsible? It couldn't be the mysterious Virginia could it?
The death scenes are kind of what an 80s version of a Final Destination film would look like I think. The main star is Melissa Sue Anderson who must have wanted to break stereotype while filing Little House on the Prairie s she played the bad girl this time.
Thoroughly enjoyable film.

Considering this moster movie was based on an 80s arcade game (that I barely remember playing on the Nintendo) it was surprisingly good. Sure it is a bit campy at some points its not over the top like some other 80s video game movie adaptations I could name. There's a well rounded cast of characters, my biggest issue is the villainous brother and sister the acting at times seemed staged (not wooden but like read lines?) they were ok but more meh.
Good movie for a few cheap jump scares, wonton destruction and some good laughs.

I dare you not to sing along
Little Shop of Horrors is one of those movies that if I find out you don't like it I'll never trust you to recommend movies to me again.... just kidding... but not really.
This movie has everything you could ever want
Catchy Music
Amazing Cast
Memorable Characters
Audrey II
and it's just campy enough to make you laugh without being ridiculous.
And if you haven't seen it I definitely recommend watching the Alternate ending which I really wish would have been the original ending from the start because it is 100x better which I didn't even think was possible.

Campy creepy fun
I had never seen this horror classic until last night. For some reason it had always escaped me.
When teenager Mike stumbles upon some gruesome happenings at a funeral, he decides to investigate. He discovers the mysterious "Tall Man" whom he battles with his brother to see who survives.
It certainly has the low budget film look with shoddy lighting and the usual low budget effects, but there are enough creepy images and those cool flying metal spheres to keep you entertained throughout.
Since I have just purchased the Phantasm 5 pack, I definitely see more Phantasm in my immediate future.
