So what is the truth?
If you like unreliable narrators, then this is the book for you. The Truth is in fact questionable - not the book, the narrators version of events. What can I say without giving the game away? Well, no one in this novel is someone that you’d want to know, they all do immoral, unpleasant things, and I enjoyed it 🤷🏼‍♀️

I do like an unlikeable main character, and even though when I was reading this, I was telling myself that I should give her a chance, and that circumstances had made her the way she was, I still found her thoroughly unfriendly and rude.

The last third of the novel was particularly good, and really made the book for me. Everything is explained, and it was utterly fascinating: the fact that this is based on a true story blew my mind!

Many thanks to The Pigeonhole and Naomi Joy for reading along.

What can I say other than how wonderful this story was. It was well written. The style of the book - small acts, almost like watching a play - though different, was easy to get used to. I think it made visualising the story easier. I don't want to give anything away so I'll just be vague...

The lead character is running from something and arrives in thunder mountain. There she meets someone running from his own past. You get to meet the characters from the first book all over again as this story plays out.

Loved reading the twists in the plot and found it hard to put it down. Can't wait to read the next installment.

Guess Who the Murderer is?
I stumbled across this board game in the pub and had high hopes of some sort of Cluedo with a twist type game. Unfortunately it's pretty much like Guess Who. One player picks a suspect, method, location and a motive card at random and hides them behind the Mansion art work.
The other player has so many steps to guess all four right. There are only about 6 choices for each category to choose from. For a longer game I think you can say the person has so many of the 4 guesses right without saying which. Given the title I hoped for more than a guessing game.

Amazing First Book!!!!
What if you have the perfect life, the perfect wife and the perfect child - then, in one shattering moment, you discover nothing is as it seems? What if your whole life was based on LIES?

I received and ARC version of this book and all I can say is it's and amazing first book for this author! I literally could not put this book down (except to take care of family needs here and there) and finished it within the day. So many twists and turns that will literally leave your turning the pages to delve deeper and deeper into the storyline. Highly recommend!

Good when you need something stupid
I like many of the actors in the movie so my rating is skewed towards the positive due to my inappropriate laughter imagining them saying their lines and the relationships between the actors. My boyfriend and I wanted to watch something funny and stupid; Sausage Party fit the bill. Most of our laughter was accompanied with eye rolls and shaking our heads, incredulous at what was being said or done. The jokes are crude, sophomoric, scatological, sexual, and filled with inappropriate stereotypes. We saw it on cable and it was edited for content so I'm sure the theatrical release was much worse. It's Seth Rogen. What more can I say?

"Only because it’s everybody’s number one choice. I kinda feel, in this day and age — not to be sounding bad in any way — we live in a culture where something’s good, and some people will say it’s awesome, and they may not have even seen it or they didn’t like it. But they want to agree with the cultural zeitgeist. I feel like that movie has stood up to time [and] criticism, and yet everybody can find the exact same reasons as to why it’s awesome. I mean, it’s so well-written. It’s a slow movie that you’re still riveted by. It’s [got] character development unlike anything I’ve ever seen before. And of course, the performances are wild."

Beautiful artwork (0 more)
I'm a huge Neil Gaiman fan so I'd read the short story 'Snow Glass Apples' previously and enjoyed it. Although I've read most of his graphic novels with some of the recent adaptations of short stories I've not been sure if having a graphic novel version was really adding value. So when I saw there was a new adaptation of this one I had a look through before deciding to buy. All I can say is that the artwork is beautiful, Colleen Doran has done an excellent job bringing this to life, with sensitive handling of the more graphic details. I'd definitely recommend this, it's a lovely addition to any collection.

Tom Hanks starring early noughties piece, during that period where Spielberg seemed to be concentrating more on character than spectacle (see also: "Catch Me If You Can"), with Hanks playing the part of a man stranded in New York's JFK airport after a coup d'etat in his homeland invalidates his passport.

And also, apparently, inspired by the real-life case of a man stranded in Paris Charles de Gaulle airport (where he lived for years on end).

I have to say, I did find Hanks accent in this quite hard to make out, and - whilst it's probably truer to real life - I was also quite surprised by how his relationship with Catherine Zeta Jones' flight attendant ended!

Patrick Wilson recommended Fletch (1985) in Movies (curated)

Fletch (1985)
Fletch (1985)
1985 | Comedy

"When I think of five favorite films, it’s hard for me to put in, like, Citizen Kane, because while that movie and many classic movies are amazing, I couldn’t lie and say, “If it’s on, I’m going to watch it,” whereas a movie like Fletch, I’ll watch. So I have to consider that one of my five favorite films. What’s interesting about that movie to me is, aside from the ridiculousness of Chevy Chase and his comedy, the plot’s pretty interesting. You’re trying to figure out what’s happening. He’s trying to write this article, he uncovers this whole scam, this fraud, and he’s being set up for this murder, and it holds its own. You can do the wacky characters for Fletch Lives, but you don’t actually have as interesting a central plot. Maybe you’ve just already seen a lot of the jokes. And he’s very good at his job. He’s actually very good at his job; he’s not just an idiot. He can say all the crazy lines and be hilarious, but he’s good at his job, and I think that’s actually what’s kind of cool. And truthfully, I think that’s one of the reasons why – they’ve been trying to reboot, remake that movie forever, but all you’re going to be doing is trying to find somebody who can be as funny as Chevy Chase. But I think what actually makes the movie stand out to me is that, if you break it down, he’s actually legitimately trying to uncover this plot and move the story along. He’s a good detective! So Fletch is the kind of movie that, if it’s on, I’m going to watch it. I’m going to watch it, and I’m going to recite every line. [laughs] I have to keep that in there."
