Loved the message
I really enjoyed this book. More than I thought I would. It is definitely not a genre I would normally read but I thought I would give it a go and I was pleasantly surprised. I liked the different stories/events that played out throughout the book and they all linked into the overall story.
I was hooked from the first couple for chapters and it really got my attention. I wanted to see what was going to happen in each story/event that happened.
I feel the author really brought the story and characters to life. I got a feel for each character and could hear their voice and see them (in my mind) clearly and I like when that comes through in a book.
Although the book goes from daytime to nighttime it was always clear when that happened so I wasn't left confused which can sometime happen when a book goes from one place to another.
I loved, what I feel was, the really important underlying message. It made me think...although I do feel we need certain emotions and feelings, I understand why they are pointless and are not necessary and what causes them. It's weird to say but lessons could actually be learnt from this book, even though it is a fictional book.
I would definitely read a follow on book if there was one and would read other books by this author.
I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author via Voracious Readers Only.

Awix (3310 KP) rated Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down! (¡Átame!) (1989) in Movies

Black romantic-comedy, a rare misfire from Pedro Almodovar. A mentally-unstable young man kidnaps a troubled actress and junkie and keeps her prisoner until she falls in love with him. Yes, I know: I would say it was a Spanish thing but it's fundamentally the same plot as Passengers and a few other movies.
I suppose it's conceivable that you could make quite an interesting and provocative film based on such a premise, provided you approached it the right way (perhaps in this case doing it ironically might be justified). However, Almodovar plays it unexpectedly straight, and quite apart from how dodgy the basis of the plot is, not even actors like Banderas and Abril (who do the best they can with the material) can make the story work. Lots of interesting characters and story material gets crowded out to the edges of the film, and it's oddly graphic for what's supposed to be a romance. Watchable but not satisfying.

Jeff Goldbloom!
THAT is how you make a film!
Okay, I know what you are going to say... "Marvel, its okay for us to go 30 seconds without laughing" But DAM! This is how you make a movie! There is so much more to it than just the humor, which is just the right amount of silly, cheesy, perfectly timed.
I just love the 80s vibes, it's done to perfection, form soundtrack to colour palet to end credits it is a wonderful blend of Nors awesomeness and Back to the Future mixed with a little Sat Wars.
Can not get enough of this one, defo in my top 5 Marvel films. Oh Deadpool, you know you my guy 😘

Haley Mathiot (9 KP) rated New England Knits: Timeless Knitwear with a Modern Twist in Books
Apr 27, 2018
New England Knits is full of 25 beautiful patterns—I love every single one—that are ideal for Fall, Winter, and Spring in the cooler areas of the world. There's a good variety: some sweaters, some cowls, some hats, a bag, a pair of mittens etc. They're all original and unique, and very inspiring. I can look at them and think of my own version or variation, either by changing the colors, adding a pocket, sewing on beads, etc. and creating my own look as well.
Again, I loved every single one. I've started one of them (Whale Watch Hat! It's really cute) and I can't wait to make some of the others.
Recommendation: The patterns are easy enough to read and understand for the intermediate/advanced knitter, which is the skill group it's written for. I'd say make sure you can read a pattern and use double pointed needles before trying any of these patterns. Summer is nearly half way over! Pick up your knitting needles and start on your Fall and Winter sweaters now!

Rhubarbio (27 KP) rated King of New York in Tabletop Games

Dice rolls give multiple options
Provides a game board, where King of Tokyo is lacking
Expands on King of Tokyo, by providing additional features
Lovely dice roller
This game is the successor to King of Tokyo, a game is beloved by many. Whilst I liked King of Tokyo, it bugged me that there was no board for when monsters are outside of Tokyo...a minor point, perhaps, but that's why I like that King of New York has a board that features all monsters in different areas of NYC. Additionally, this game alters the dice and includes buildings, that can be destroyed to give health or other benefits...sometimes, destroying a building can hurt you too. This additional optionality to the game made this a must play for me and some friends for about a year. I can't say it's had great staying power beyond this, but I have kept the game to teach my son when he is old enough, as I'm sure he will enjoy it too.

Beware I will ruin the movie for you

This movie was a great watch, really, I’m not trying to bash it. Though the heartwrench I received after watching it LAST year I am still dealing with and just the poster makes me cringe.
The movie begins with Logan and Xavier the latter taking care and doing what he can to support the two.
There is a lot of death in this movie and we the watchers have to deal with Wolverine and his struggle with keeping himself alive after the experiments done on him has begun to poison his body. He does find out he has a kick ass daughter and ends up trying to keep her and several other mutant children safe as they journey to Canada to escape the crazy ass government people who want to turn them into weapons and studies etc.
In the end he does what he begrudgingly sets out to do that costs him dearly.
