Good story, but not scary.
Complaining about special effects is pointless, because it's a very old movie.
The idea and the story are great. Reasoning behind character choices is interesting.
The only bad thing i can say about this movie, is that it lacked the scare factor. Maybe it is because of the unrealistic amount of blood, or maybe it wasn't scary at all, who knows.

They delve deep into cases, you can tell they spend a lot of time researching the current case and interviewing people. (0 more)
I find it a little hard to follow at times, because it sometimes seems like they go on tangents (that are usually related to the case) or say we'll get to that later and then when they do go back to something it's not always clear they are going back (0 more)

Much better than the film
Having read this and the alternate version of twilight I can definitely say both are better than the film. The character description and story flow are much smoother and in depth. Not the best writing mind you but a lot better than some and it's a new twist on an old tale.
Really enjoyable book with some pretty memorable scenes and one liners.

Movie Favorite

"I would say that’s the first quintessential coming-of-age movie. It felt so real, and it just captured the freedom, danger, fear, hope, and everything that comes with being a kid. It’s one of the best movies ever made. It was such a shock to the world when it came out, too, and it was, like, “Oh, wow. You can make movies like this?” It stands up, too."

"This movie is such a strange little treasure. It is brilliantly bizarre, from the main conceit to the fact that Cameron Diaz (at her very best; I miss her) plays a terribly coiffed chimpanzee enthusiast. Admit it, right now you’re thinking about that scene where John Malkovich enters the portal into his own brain, and all anyone can say is the word “Malkovich.” A masterpiece of unapologetic, creative weirdness."

More soundtrack music from the Toy Story man. I know that is a little easy to say, but all the songs just sound like that to me. One interesting thing to note was he wrote You Can Leave Your Hat On, later made famous by Joe Cocker and again by Tom Jones, albeit very different versions to Newman's take on it.

It hit all of the buttons I was expecting and some I wasn't.
Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarain, I was gifted my copy of this book.

This is book 2 in the Basic Instincts series and I have not read book 1, Now Comes The Dark. I did not feel I missed anything by not doing so, so I would say this can totally be read as a stand alone. Roman and Mallon pop up, but only in passing.

Marc is not happy with the local police about their lack of progress in finding his brother's killer. Because Marc does not believe that Theo's death was an accident. Enter Jason, a local private detective. But just as his investigation gets moving, their chief witness is murdered and both men find themselves in a fight for their lives, with no clue who is behind it all.

I just wanna say: Well played, Mr Collins, so very well played! I did not see the whodunnit coming at me, not at all! I love being kept on my toes, I really do. So, I loved that coming out of nowhere and whooping me upside the head!

As Marc and Jason get to know each other, their relationship builds. I liked that build up and when it spilled over. I can't say I liked the reason it spilled over, and I'm not going to elaborate due to spoilers, but I think when it does spill over, it was exactly at the right time for these two.

It moves at speed sometimes, and slows up in others, just enough for you to catch up. It's dark and deadly, and sweet and emotional. Steamy and smexy. It hit all of the buttons I was expecting and some I wasn't.

I absolutely need to read book 3, but I've no clue who that would be or even IF there will be a book 3! And at some point, I'd like to go back and read book 1.

5 full and shiny stars

So today I decided my floordrobe had finally gotten too big - it was time to the Marie Kondo way of folding clothes. Very quickly after putting my newly folded clothes back in the draw I encountered a problem, for some reason I could fit far less in the drawer than previously. In the picture below is all my tops folded Marie Kondo style, I used to also fit about 5 pairs of trousers and quite a few pairs of pyjamas. Now I do like that all of my tops are visibly and I don’t have to messily rummage through the whole stack for one at the bottom. However I can say that after spending at least half an hour re-folding all my clothes when I discovered even less fit in the drawer this way it most definitely did not Spark Joy!!

I can't tire of this series
This book had me on the edge of my seat the entire time, I purposely took my time reading it only reading small bits at a time so I could really appreciate and take on what I was reading. James Patterson is an incredible writer who can set the scene and create amazing characters. He has the ability to make you feel as though you are part of the story as you begin to become invested in the characters and their lives. Alex cross being in love is one of my favourite things and the cases he faces are disturbing to say the least. James has an incredible imagination and understanding of the law. As I got towards the end of the book I realised I could not put it down until I knew what had happened.
