Dark Humor with a Satisfying Twist
The Twist that Hits Harder than Any Punch
Fight Club is a classic at this point, itself a riveting adaptation of Chuck Palahniuk's also classic novel. The first time you watch it, the twist hits harder than any punch thrown in the movie. The second time you watch it, it's fun to try and catch all the signs pointing to the twist. It's crazy good, mostly driven by Edward Norton and Brad Pitt's strangely powerful bro chemistry and director David Fincher's excellent vision. It is understandable that the casual movie-goer may be turned off by Fight Club however, as it is dark and a bit too nihilistic in places for its own good.

7 Wonders is one of my go-to games for larger groups. Capable of handling up to 7 players, it's both strategic and a good casual game. As the game that brought drafting as the primary game mechanic into the forefront of tabletop gaming, it still remains on the top of the list. It does take a game for a new player to understand what they need to prioritize and need to keep an eye out of cards, but once they make it through a round, they'll be enjoying it in no time. Quick gameplay with lots of decision space allows for a fulfilling game that you can look back on and realize oh I should have done this!. There are issues with a lack of player interaction with people not next to you, but expansions do offer solutions to that.

Spaghetti Western
I love spaghetti westerns. The atmosphere is grittier than the mostly sanitized American ones. The blood looks like bright, thick Kool-Aid. Every hero has a casually disgruntled attitude without making an effort. Machismo with style. Violent and bloody, these films just feel more wild than your typical wild west film.
This one is no exception. Our man Django walks into town dragging a coffin behind him. His motives for antagonizing the villainous Major Jackson becomes more clear when the Mexican revolutionaries arrive. It all plays out with everyone adopting what are now stereotypical attitudes for each role. The climax is brief yet memorable.
Casual viewers may avoid this, but film buffs should see it simply for the inspiration it provided to other filmmakers.

Where was Aled Jones?!
Misfiring Scandi crime thriller which was part of Michael Fassbender's attempt to appear in as many dud movies as possible in 2017. There's a serial killer on the loose and a brilliant detective with a troubled personal life (gee, where do they think of these new ideas?) gets on the case.
The film's plot is really lacking in focus and it engages in the usual casual misogyny that seems to be perfectly acceptable on-screen; a baffling subplot featuring flashbacks with Val Kilmer is arguably a mistake (then again, this film is not exactly short of mis-steps). The film's pretensions to be a serious drama are not much helped by the extent to which the Magic Wand of Improbable Coincidences has been waved over the script. It is all a bit grim and muddled.

Much better than expected.
I saw this film as a recommendation from a family member and for the first fifteen mins I wondered if I would regret it. It was a little awkward and corny to start with and the stereotyping did grate a little. However once the film progressed the humour worked well with the story line and I started to enjoy it. The characters each lent the film different qualities and it was a completely different spin on the story compared to the original film.
I wouldnt recommend for some younger viewers due to some innuendo and kinda sexualised scenes (nothing graphic but references are there).
Overall a good, casual movie.

There are lots of ways to play the game and many different ways it can ultimately end.
With an easy setting it is great for someone who wants the story ornis looking to spend more time in this world after watching the Netflix series. For those wanting a challenge it can give that aswel
