Thoroughbred For A New Generation
With its striking visuals and cleverly paced plot points, this modern day cat and mouse teen Crime Thriller will leave you speechless by the end credits. Anya Taylor-Joy's performance more than makes up for the film's weaker plot points as she brings a sense of vulnerability to the character that otherwise may have felt less memorable if portrayed by any other actress. As usual Olivia Cooke delivers a fabulously balanced performance mixed with dead pan that just makes sense given the subject matter. I feel this chic mystery will garner a cult following in the years to come and it rightly deserves so.

Early 90s political thriller starring the ever-reliable Clint Eastwood (in, I feel, a rare non-Western role) as the lone still-in-service Secret Service Agent who was on duty when JFK got shot, and who gets pulled into a game of cat and mouse when the current President's life is threatened during his re-election campaign by a psychopath, brilliantly (and creepily) played by John Malkovich, despite and over the advice of that President's chief of staff (who doesn't believe there to be any danger).

This takes a while to get going, and there are more than a few cliches along the way - "I'm going to quit tomorrow' being the most egregious - with the film largely relying on the charisma of its leading actors. Thankfully, they are - mostly - up to the task.

A dysfunctional team of young assassins set out to make a name for themselves by killing the most notorious hitman of all time, Gunther (Arnold Schwarzenegger) in Killing Gunther. Hiring a documentary crew at gunpoint to record their every step, including the undeniable proof of the execution itself, they attempt to discover Gunther’s true identity and whereabouts. But before the team can even cock their guns, things go from bad to the most horrible ever; Gunther is onto them and gleefully plots some deadly punishment of his own. The infamous killer torments the team, turning them against each other, as he remains seven moves ahead. It doesn’t take long for the hunters to become the hunted in this non-stop, cat-and-mouse dark comedy.
