Dana (24 KP) rated The House in Paris in Books

For a more contemporary fiction feel to the book, I actually enjoyed it.
This was a slower book than I normally pick up. I had to read it for one of my classes, but it was pretty interesting. It was cool to be able to see the overlapping instances from chapter to chapter and even be able to see those same kind of overlaps in the past and present sections.
The characters didn't have anything particularly likable to them, but they were so well written that I didn't care that I didn't overly like them as people.

Short story or chapter?

Upon starting to read this short story, I thought the concept was brilliant. Over-population. Orbital farming. Reducing methane and therefore greenhouse gases. Genius. As a scientist this appealed to me. But just as it started to get juicy, some underhand dealings, it ended. If this were a first chapter, I would be loving this book. But as it is a short story, it felt unfinished and left me disappointed.

Obsessed book reviews (49 KP) rated Silent Threat (Mission Recovery #1) in Books

This is the first book by this author that I've read and I was gripped by the first chapter. This is the first book in this series by this author. This story has a great mystery story line which kept me guessing till the end. This book has amazing characters, both strong leads. I can't wait to read more from this series and this author in the future.

perseverance got me to chapter 15 but I genuinely can't go any further. worst w
book ive read in reads. I never normally speak badly of a book so you can see how bad this book must be.... all I kept thinking was blah blah blah..
I didn't even skip to the end for the final chapters to see how it ended because I really didn't care! just glad its a library book and I didn't waste any money on it!

I don't remember a lot about this book in all honesty, I read it when I was about 13 I reckon. All I know is I attempted to start this about 5 times over before I finally managed to make it past the first chapter.

I loved loved loved this book! Wow!
I listened to the audiobook continuously from start to finish with barely any breaks! Each chapter examines a different patient and/or situation Stephen Grosz has seen as a practicing psychoanalyst. Some stories are relatable, some are insightful, and some are sad. I can't wait to recommend this book to everyone I know!
