Quite a strange tale. This film brings together a man just split from his cheating wife who is a farmer and ex-musician and a young white girl who seems to be a bit of a nymphomaniac! It's a good film about a very unusual friendship that can restore the both of them on the right path for the future.

"As far as the modernists go, this is neck and neck with Beckett for number ten (that’s cheating, I know), but Woolf must win. Like Baldwin, Woolf has made many a top 10 list, but again, there’s a reason: I know of no more gut-wrenching, soaring prose about shared consciousness, mortality and water. Truly a book for the cradle to the grave."

The best book in the series leaves you satisfied.
A very satisfying ending to the series. It changes location compared again, but in doing so it offers a suspenseful adventure. We see the completion of both Rose's and Lissa's quests in the series. If I have to choose one book in the series to read over and over again...this is it.

A web of lies, that draws you in.
An alcoholic father, a cheating wife and a beautiful daughter. What could go wrong?

The depth of the main characters is intriguing. The author really paints a solid picture of the main 2 characters and keeps building.
I felt 'alive' reading this.
It brings so many raw topics to mind. It really has you looking at things differently.

"Okay, I’m cheating: no one is murdered, and the confidence men and cardsharps are lovable. Still. This is Preston Sturges’s peak—a comedy that has not dated one whit, for which everyone involved, not least the actors (Henry Fonda and Barbara Stanwyck, supported by a quartet of inspired scene stealers: Charles Coburn, Eugene Pallette, Eric Blore, William Demarest), seems to have been thoroughly stimulated. Demarest’s closing line is perfect."

"I’m cheating again by listing two movies together, but the contrast is too good not to mention. I’m a big admirer of the Powell and Pressburger films, and these two would have to be my favorites. Actually, I’d easily list Black Narcissus as my favorite. But The Red Shoes is so celebrated (by comparison) that I want fans of that film to experience the unique vertigo of Black Narcissus."
