Full of Charm
This book is just full of tenderness and charm. I read it to my daughter at bedtime and ended up watery eyed myself. It's absolutely lovely and recommend for any child, especially ones that love animals

"He’s the same guy who wrote Where The Wild Things Are. In it, a child spends most of his time floating about in a bottle of milk, naked… and I think that’s why it’s still on all those ‘most controversial kids’ books’ lists"

Wow. That's all I can say. Compared to the Wheedon version of this, this is such a massive improvement. I enjoyed watching this so much and my inner child that grew up on DC was so happy. I highly recommend this film.

"If you ask me, Jacobsen is Scandinavia’s best now living novelist. “Child Wonder” is a gripping tale about a boy’s upbringing in Oslo with his single mother. If you read any one of Jacobsen’s novels you’ll become a member of his fan club."

Not the best memoir I've read
This is a memoir about the author growing up in a working class family in Glasgow. I read this as part of my dissertation on memoir but was deeply disappointed. The childhood language and the adult language are disjointed, the transitions from the adult self and the child self are awkward and the story (for me) was flat. That's not to say its a terrible book. Some of the memories are sweet, vivid and well put together.
