Story
Netflix's: a haunted Mansion
I was roped into watching this by my partner, but I wasn't disappointed.
NETFLIX as usual has given us a great horror story just in time for Halloween, haunting of hill house is a diamond in the dark that follows a group of distant siblings who are troubled and haunted by their childhood.
A brilliant offering with some very strong "the shining" vibes that were very welcome.
Dark, intense and deep with common issues.
After the death of one of their own, the siblings are forced to reach out and come face to face with each other....and their estranged father.
With storys of past, present & future dangerously entwined and nightmares clawing their way back in, time, trust & understanding may be their only means of surviving.
Although some parts seemed to drag a little, it more than made up for it with sub plot explaining and some great cliffhangers.
The show is an adaption of the Shirley Jackson novel of the same name from 1959.
It is definitely something I will watch again and something I'd like to see more of.

Superb Soundtrack
Pretty much introducing reggae to the rest of the world outside of Jamaica, this is very much an album of my childhood. The cassette player in the parents car, blaring this out, normally on our lengthy car journeys to our holiday destination. It wasn't until the late 80's that I actually got around to seeing the film. Blown away I invested in my own copy of this superb soundtrack, and it's been a consistent 'go to' album ever since. Jimmy Cliff provides the bulk of the album. The main theme song, which you get two excellent versions of here, was the only track especially recorded for the film. The rest of the album comprises of some of the greatest reggae tunes ever recorded from 1967-72. Featuring Desmond Dekker, The Maytals, Scotty, The Slickers and The Melodians, we hear infectious rhythms, funky Kingston breaks, a whole lot of soul, all topped off with Jamaican patois. It really doesn't get much better than this. An absolute classic.

This book is based on a Cinderella story in an alternative universe that's mixed past with today's world!
Ella who has bee stripped of her titles has been invited by the new king Dane (Daniel) to a month long festival. By the end he is to choose a bride.
Dane and Ella have met before as children they were childhood sweethearts until he went to war and came back to news she was dead!
So as the story is well known they come together and we have a happy ending! This story is no different in that but May Sage has put a very adult spin on to it. Is it well written? In my opinion NO! I found it very patchy and rushed! The sex scenes were rushed and a little vulgar which is a shame as I was recommended this by a friend and really wanted to enjoy it!
Although I felt disappointed at the end of the book I will be reading the next one as I'm hoping they can improve!

I absolutely loved Nay's previous book, OUR LITTLE SECRET, which was utterly engrossing, different, and a total page-turner. She proves again with HURRY HOME that she's a wonderful writer. I flew through this book as well.
It's told from the perspective of Alex and Ruth, alternating between the two sisters. We're never quite sure who to trust or to believe, and we are slowly doled out facts about their childhood. Unfortunately, I did find this novel to be more predictable than Nay's first. There are certainly a lot of great twists and turns, but I did guess a lot of them. I do think some of that is due to my large appetite for thrillers, though. A more casual reader will find this book quite shocking and twisty.
The action stays mainly focused on the sisters, so it can get a little repetitive as they hash through their dramas. But it's a compelling read, with some shocking reveals. Nay is certainly good at capturing the diabolical. While I did find some parts easy to guess, I enjoyed this thriller overall. I'll certainly be on the lookout for Nay's next book. 3.5 stars.

Charlotte is a doting mom who adores her five-year-old daughter, Daisy. She's also extremely overprotective and anxious, watching and worrying over Daisy's every move. Charlotte and her brother, Rocco, had a tough childhood. Rocco reacts by dating a variety of troubled women. But it seems like he's finally found someone special in his latest girlfriend, Ruth. Ruth really seems to love Rocco--and Daisy. But Charlotte rankles at how much Ruth likes Daisy and vice versa. Then Daisy is kidnapped from school, and Charlotte is convinced that Ruth took her. Is she right, or is it just Charlotte's fears rearing up again?
This was a twisty read that kept me guessing the entire time. It makes you work a bit to keep up, going back and forth between different perspectives and time periods, but it is interesting, dark, and compelling, with several good surprises thrown in. I was constantly switching my allegiances between Charlotte and Ruth, wondering which one (if either) I should trust. The ending felt a little abrupt and quick, but I would certainly read Bell's other work. 3.5 stars.
