3.5/5

Thanks to Dean Street Press for rereleasing this lovely book. E.H.Young writes so beautifully, I wish I had read her children's books when I was young. This #bookreview is for one of her adult fiction books. http://tcl-bookreviews.com/2020/08/03/wholly-moley/

Classic children's story about friendship and loss
I shed so many tears reading this as a kid. It's a great book for children exploring loss, and unlikely friendship. Even though I hate spiders, Charlotte is wonderful, attempting to aid her friend Wilbur the pig from being slaughtered. A heartwarming, bittersweet tale.

A Classic Of Children's Literature
I liked this book a lot tbh. The ending was cute, the illustrations were nice, and the writing didn't "talk down" to readers like some picture books do. The only complaint I have is that the pacing felt a little rushed. But maybe that's just me.

Almost indescribably weird Japanese children's film takes all the tropes of the giant monster genre and somehow manages to make them thoroughly whimsical and charming. Up to a point, anyway. Anyone wondering about the sanitation arrangements on Monster Island will enjoy the giant monster toilet which turns up in this film.
The monster suits are awful, the acting mainly consists of the broadest kind of slapstick and people shouting at one another, and even the special effects are decidedly ropey. Yet we must remember this was a children's film and it does have a very peculiar gentle charm to it. If you like Japanese SF movies anyway. Everyone else will probably find it totally unwatchable.

Decent narrative (2 more)
Exciting premises
Celebrity guest stars
A nice simple review for my first post. This is a family feel good film that never ceases to cause a laugh. The narrative corresponds with the normal events from the series and its great to see how children's characters can inspire such a bold freedom.

Gorgeously presented card game
This game looks gorgeous, it is designed like a children's picture book. You have random cards and characters and use them to battle. Although beautiful looking i am not sure if the game ill last weeks of play.

Not what I expected
Contains spoilers, click to show
This appears to be a children's book and I suppose it approached the subject of Death rather delicately but it was really depressing. I must say that I didn't care for the story much even tho this is all to real for alot of people , I can't see how this would help someone.
[Out of War] by [Sara Cameron] is the story of the Children's Movement for Peace in Columbia. It is a non fiction book written for lower readers. The high interest of the topic, especially to many ELL students, will be a help but the way the stories are told is dull and could be written better.

Whenever I am having a bad day or feeling down I re read this children's book. Love the storyline how an orphaned girl is sent to India to live with her Uncle and she along with a boy she befriends over there come across a garden which has been locked for years and bring it back to life.
