Never looked at business cards the same again.
American Psycho is one of the best Psychological Thrillers, Black Comedies, and Horror movies to date. Christian Bale plays Patrick Bateman so well that even though he is a psychopath you just can't help but like the guy even though you kind of want to punch him in the face at the same time.

Definitely, add this to your need to watch list.

2007 | Action, Drama, Western
2007 remake of a 1950s original (which I haven't seen), and - I'm sorry to say - , this just didn't do it for me.

Despite starring two stellar actors in Christian Bale and Russell Crowe, I found this to be slow, plodding and just, well, boring; never really taking off or holding my attention at all.

You want to see a good film/Western (in all but name) by James Mangold? Stick with the infinitely-superior 'Logan'.

Christian Bale piles on the pounds for Adam McKay’s The Waist Wing. Vice (2019) #Review
In taking on the story of Dick Cheney, the apparently unassuming bureaucratic Washington insider turned Vice Presidential master of the universe, Adam McKay seeks to shed light on the breathtaking constitutional chicanery which saw the executive branch of the American government vastly increase its own power whilst at the same time enormously enriching those in power who hid behind the lightning rod figurehead of George W Bush...

That comb-over!
Great cast does a great job with this interesting story of two decent con artists recruited by the FBI to take down even bigger corrupt individuals and the mob.

The script and acting are both excellent and really engage you in the story and get quickly invested in their lives. The 70s fashion and music are also two more interesting characters in the film.

When you look at Christian Bale (who gained 40 pounds for this role), it's hard to believe he's the same actor who played Batman and was in The Machinist where he was skin and bones.

Highly recommended.

Terminator Salvation (2009)
Terminator Salvation (2009)
2009 | Action, Mystery, Sci-Fi
Released back in 2009, this was - at the time - meant to be the first in a new trilogy if Terminator films.

This is the one set almost entirely in a post apocalyptic 'future' (2018, so - at the time of reviewing - 2 years ago), with Sam Worthington still riding his fame after Avatar (before seemingly disappearing), and with Christian Bale taking on the role of a grown-up John Connor.

The film, however, is probably more famous for his on-set meltdown/temper tantrum...

No Arnie - for once - and with a young Anton Yelchin (before his unfortunate demise) as Kyle Reese, this is actually better than I remember it to be, if not brilliant.

Thor The Comedy
Another fun and very lighthearted Thor film. There are some good action scenes and good to see Natalie Portman as Mighty Thor. Christian Bale does well in his role and steals all his scenes. It is funny with the typical humour of Guardians of the Galaxy and the last Thor film.
Unfortunately it just tries to be funny constantly, almost every scene and some of it just becomes a bit silly. Making it more of a comedy than a Superhero film. Still enjoyable but needs a better balance like Ragnarok to hit the mark.

Wonder Woman (0 more)
If I ever have to see Bruce Wayne's parents die on screen again, I'm never watching another Batman movie. It was so unnecessary. I didn't mind Ben Affleck as Batman (my unpopular opinion=Christian Bale was an awful Batman). Henry Cavill was the quiet, conflicted Superman, as he was in Man of Steel. No comment on Amy Adams as Lois Lane (because I have nothing nice to say). The shining moment: Wonder Woman. Though, if I didn't know who Wonder Woman was, I wouldn't have had any idea of who she was, because they never actually introduce the fact that she's Wonder Woman. Jesse Eisenberg as Mark Zuckerberg, I mean, Lex Luthor, was, well... interesting?
Hey, it was a better movie than Suicide Squad.

Equilibrium (2002)
Equilibrium (2002)
2002 | Action, Drama, Sci-Fi
Hugely derivative sci-fi action plodder. In a future world where all emotion has been outlawed and society has been retooled to include as many genre cliches as possible, Christian Bale is a fiercely calm enforcer of the general state of drugged-up indifference. Needless to say he begins to doubt the system.

Well, some bits are knocked off from Logan's Run, some from 1984, some from THX-1138, and most obviously of all there are some hugely blatant steals from The Matrix. Not one of Bale's finest performances. The film has a certain visual style to it, but the lack of originality, mixed with a good deal of silliness, bathos, and pretension, means it isn't even particularly enjoyable as a fun dumb action film.

A Gothic period piece
I saw this billed as a period murder mystery so had to check it out especially with a great cast line up.
The production is great from locations, sets and costumes. You feel like you are there at the time.
Christian Bale plays a detective to investigate a grisly murder at the Military training base for America. He enlists the help of a cadet who would be wider know as Edgar Allen Poe.
It was a bit slow at times without a lot action wise, the middle section is drawn out too much. The plot seemed a little odd but thankfully the final scenes bring it back on track.
