This raucous comedy focuses on the Gemstone family,a bunch of TV evangelical preachers lead by head preacher Eli Gemstone.
The main story focuses on eldest son Jesse is blackmailed by a couple of thugs who have a vidro of him and other members of the church taking drugs with prostitutes when on a church related trip to atlanta.As things get more complicated the rest of the family are dragged into it and much hilarity ensues.
I was never really a big fan of Danny McBride (who created the show also) but in this he is brilliant as the arrogant son Jesse,as is john goodman as his dad.

In a small town in North Carolina, there is a small church by the river. The windows are covered with newspaper so no one can see what is going on inside. But what is going on in that church? Too many people in town refuse to question it and one person in particular has decided to remove herself from the church and take all of the children with her.
So how is it that Christopher Hall is now dead after going to the church? This was the very reason children were not supposed to be there in the first place.
Christopher is a mute and has been all his life. His brother Jess and he are always together. One day when they are playing around the house, they break the waterspout going into the rain barrel. They were trying to spy on their parents, but their mother has always told them that spying was wrong. After running from "the scene of the crime," Jess discovers that it's not his father that was in there making the strange noises with his mother. After this discovery, Jess is concerned when Christopher is called to go to church for healing.
Wiley Cash has written an amazing story that makes you question humanity and religion in America. Some people will believe just about anything in order to belong. The things you read in this book will have your mind reeling. Even though it took me a couple of weeks to read this book, if I hadn't been so busy I would have gotten it done faster. I read the last 100 pages in one night.
I look forward to reading what else Mr. Cash has to offer.

Adult Fantasy 429 pages
This was an amazing book. At times I just couldn't put it down. This is the first book of a trilogy. I will be reading the 2nd book, Godsgrave soon.
This book is about Mia Corvere who is seeking vengeance against the powers that destroyed her family. At the age of 10 her father was hung and her mother and baby brother were sent the Philosophers stone, prison. She was to be drowned but escaped.
During her flight she is robbed and get's a shadow friend who happens to be in the shape of a cat. She calls her friend Mister Kindly. A retire killer takes her in and trains her in the art of fighting. At 16 she leaves and heads out to join the Red Church. On her way she meets a young man, named Tric and an older woman named Naev.
Naev ends up being a member of the Red Church. She learns that Tric also wants to join the Red Church. Each have their reasons for joining.
To join the Red Church you have to go through deadly trials. If you survive to initiation you will be inducted among the chosen of the Lady of Blessed Mother. If she makes it this far she will be one step closer to her goal of revenge.
This book takes you through her trials and friendships and enemies. Why was her family targeted? Who are her friends? Who are her enemies? What is Tric to her? Does she make it into the Red Church? You have to read to find out the answer to these questions. I highly recommend this book I gave it 4.5 stars.

Good artwork and an interesting storyline, this graphic novel follow a young girl, Aika, who only speaks Swahili who seeks sanctuary in a church. the exact nature of what she is running from is not clear but the urgency and action lead to an exciting journey with a happy if rushed ending.

One of the best zombie books I've read and the start on an epic series

Patient Zero is the first book in Jonathan Maberry's Joe Ledger series. Jonathan Maberry is a phenomenal writer, in this series he introduces us to the DMS (Department of Military Sciences) a shadow government agency formed to respond to advanced terrorist threats such as bioterrorism, alien technology etc..
In this book we meet an array of characters such as Mr Church, Aunt Sally, Top and Bunny when Joe is recruited by Mr Church to help deal with the potential release of a zombie virus. This book is thrilling, funny, and keeps the reader itching for more.
I give this book 10/10.

Good movie
I enjoyed this movie, but it's not one I see myself watching multiple times. The story follows a woman grieving the loss of her husband. Before his death she was heavily involved with her church, but her grief causes her to turn from God. This movie focuses on having faith in God, amd helping others while they are struggling with there faith. The church community played an active role in the story, and overall I think the movie did a good job showing grief. At times I was worried that the romance would be used as an easy way out, but in the end it was done in a way that didn't feel forced or rushed. If you are a fan of religious movies this is one you should consider watching.
