"I saw this recently for the first time, per Xan Cassavetes’s recommendation. The flashback sequences are painstaking. This is a kind of cinema that is rare and beautiful."

"Just for its bold audacity. Its exquisite painterly quality. Its kind of expressionism, its style, and its kind of audacity to take on great philosophical themes in cinema."

"One of the greatest portraits put on screen by one of the greatest directors cinema has known. Varda’s mixture of time and of light and dark is impeccable."

I’m asking this question as the cinema experience is a bit of a contentious issue for me all the time. I have a cinema card and try and go at least once a week, but I’m finding myself getting more and more annoyed at the actual experience itself (people talking & eating throughout the film, never ending adverts before the film itself), so I’m interested to hear how everyone else finds it?

Great cinema.
Yes it's violent and barbaric, but this also makes the movie what it is - gripping.
Gripping thriller with great performances by Travolta and Cage.

A great read about the history of a select classic films that helped shaped my favorite genre of cinema. Not perfect, but essential for any lover of horror movies.
