David McK (3843 KP) rated Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft in TV
Oct 26, 2024
Netflix's animated Tomb Raider show, that follows the more recent incarnation of Lara from the early noughties/2010 series of Tomb raider games (Tomb Raider, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Shadow of the Tomb Raider) rather than the 'classic' 90s era Lara.
There are still plenty of nods in there, however, to those original games!

Classic Gold
This movie is just classic. There is no other way to describe it. The story follows the the plight of mankind having to contend with a more advanced alien invasion force from Mars. The acting was good and the special effects were great for the time. There hasn't been a War of the Worlds movie that can touch this one in terms of a pure invasion movie( yes even the Tom Cruise version which is another story). You feel the danger and hopelessness of the situation. The acting was great and the ending was what you expect if you know the story. Maybe someday someone will do a great WotW movie that is great like this one with the technology of today.

The perfect Blockbuster?
To make this clear, Jurassic Park is easily in my top 10 films of all time.
I saw it when I was young - maybe 7 or 8 years old, not too long after it came out, so one might argue that there is an element of nostalgia reflected in my opinion, but honestly, no matter how many times I see it, I never tire of it, and all these years later, the effects still stand up, which is an incredible achievement considering it came out in 1993!
The whole cast are just great, the script is solid, and the score is an all time classic - John Williams smashing it out of the park again.
An all time classic.

So addictive gameplay (1 more)
Good Graphics and sound effects
A classic
I can remember hearing a lot of hype about this game. This along with Wolfstein created the first person shooter games. So when it came to the Megadrive 32X it was a must have game. The graphics were pretty good for time if the environments were a little plain and chunky. The game moved fast though, and the sound effects of blasting some zombies or demons with your shotgun were great. It was a simple game of getting through a level to the exit while blasting baddies along the way with alsorts of weapons. Yet it was just so much fun, you could play for hours. A cult classic game!
Andy K (10826 KP) rated The Fog (1980) in Movies

Classic Carpenter!
Director John Carpenter had a lot to live up to and deliver after his striking masterpiece Halloween. He decided to tell an old school ghost story about a coastal town in northern California which is cursed and subject to a mysterious "Fog" which rolls into town and carries ghoulies within its misty depths.
Not as well known or remembered as some other Carpenter works, The Fog still delivers some creepy scares and gruesome death scenes reminiscent of other Carpenter films.
Great cast of vintage horror icons like Janie Lee Curtis, Janet Leigh and Adrienne Barbeau make the story more enjoyable and believable.
The film shows its age in parts, but is still an enjoyable horror classic.
