A classic, still relevant for today
As a Chinese student, and having studied classical Chinese, Sunzi 孙子 is one of the fathers of Chinese history - his importance is incomparable and should be highlighted in modern times. The art of war is still relevant to all aspects of current governance and strategy. Just a quick mention though - it is pronounced "Soon za" not "San su".

"Musically, it's so beautiful. It's one of those classical voices from that time. Ladies singing the blues: the title is very powerful. It's a woman singing her problems. The blues to me is when you cannot cry about your problems, you have to sing them. It's a kind of survival song. She's crying inside but she transforms her voice into a kind of hope."

"People who make their own aural tapestries have always intrigued me. Talvin Singh took his classical training into new places, and that’s no bad thing. But my musical tastes are down to happenstance: I’ll go into the library and discover something I may have had for years and never got round to listening to, which is what happened the other day with Talvin Singh."
