Sheila Pinelli is back in Cole's life, and he wants to find her and make sure that she can't hurt anyone ever again. Due to a mistake, she is released without the officer knowing that she should have been detained. This takes Cole on a journey to find her and also draws him into finding some missing women as well. Claudia comes back to work too, and I love her wisdom and style!
Ending on a cliffhanger regarding Bobby, this is a well-written and fast-paced addition to the Cole McGinnis series. Definitely recommended.
* I received this book from the author in return for a fair and honest review. *

Darker, dirtier and a damn sight more dangerous!
Spoilers/warning : Please be aware there is an attempted rape scene/a rape and sex trafficking which includes reference to underage girls which could be a trigger for some readers.
Also a few graphic descriptions of violence and sex.
Chapter one starts us on the same day we left off, only with Sophie, not Preston.
I'm so happy that we've not jumped ahead weeks, especially after the cliffhanger of the first book. It's pretty seamless too, no subtle character discrepancies and no questions about what's happened since we were last enveloped in Crescentwood.
Sophie is as strong and sassy as ever but we get to see a more vulnerable side too. A side that puts cracks in tough exteriors of four smoking hot guys.
Each page I read makes me want a reverse harem so bad! Hot, gorgeous bad boys with tattoos and a soft spot for Sophie and some mind blowing sex.....lucky girl! I love how the boys characters are growing, how each of them is showing traits that explain why Sophie is so drawn to them.
Yet again we're left with questions and a bit of a cliffhanger but I wouldn't have it any other way, it just has me impatiently waiting for the next installment!
The epilogue is grim, twisted and puts a lot of the pieces together. It confirmed some of my theories, made me uncomfortable, oddly satisfied and quite honestly anxious about what's ahead for Sophie and the boys.

Merissa (12051 KP) rated Cursed by Fate (Between Ruin and Salvation #1) in Books
Apr 12, 2023
CURSED BY FATE is the first of four books in the Between Ruin and Salvation series and it starts off slow enough that you can figure out just who is who and what is going on, without being thrown in the deep end. It is a start that builds up momentum until you are left gasping at the cliffhanger. And what a cliffhanger it is.
I was thoroughly engrossed with the story, watching how the characters changed and grew as the situation changed. And how much did I curse at my Kindle when Ava and Makaii didn't meet when I wanted them to, or in the circumstances I wanted? One thing I loved was Ava's relationship with Derek. Seeing how it changed between them into something neither of them expected was fantastic. I'm now holding onto hope that Ava and Makaii will get their HEA without too many more horrible decisions and stubbornness getting in their way.
A strong, capable female MC with a ton of bad situations. Two adorable male MCs and a triangle that I've never had before. (And I don't even like triangles but this one had me intrigued!) And kick-ass witches that I want more from. This was an amazing start to a brilliant series and I can't wait to read more. HIGHLY recommended by me.

Please don't let the fact that it took me forever to finish reading this fool you. I had other commitments that kept me from finishing this some time ago.
This is a well written and captivating story line and the characters are all simply beautiful and unique. I can't say that I have a favorite sister yet as Katharine, Arsinoe and Mirabella all have their own strengths and weaknesses that I am drawn to.
I truly did not see the cliffhanger ending coming and I now ask; how long do I and others need to wait until book two is released?!!
Readers of all ages will find themselves quickly falling for this amazing read and I highly recommend that you read it as soon as possible.

All I can say about this book is what a cliffhanger!!! I am glad I have the 3rd book sitting here so I can find out what happens to Katniss.
I am officially hooked on this series. I wasn't sure about it at first, but I enjoyed this book more than the first. That might be attributed to the fact that it picks up where the first left off so there wasn't anything to really figure out this time around.
The characters are all unique & fascinating in their own ways. At the same time you can't help but to find a little of yourself in each & every one of them.
I look forward to finding out how this trilogy ends...

WOOF. I was so excited to read this book, after demolishing Waking Gods in one day. I'm glad this book was a little shorter than Waking Gods.
Honestly, not much happens during this novel. It goes back and forth with flashbacks to when the characters were on the other planet, and the modern world. I believe it was supposed to be a current sociopolitical situation; it was obvious and was definitely eye-roll inducing.
The actions of some of the characters made no logical sense. Eva was so annoying and childish, I really couldn't stand her and it damaged the book for me. While the last book ended on the cliffhanger, this book made me wish the trilogy was only a duology.

Erika (17788 KP) rated True Blood - Season 4 in TV

This is one of my favorite seasons of True Blood. At the end of season three, Sookie disappears, and think she's only gone for a few minutes, but it's been months.
I mostly like this season because there's a ton of Alexander Skarsgård. I like the addition of witches too, Jesus is one of my favorite characters. I love witchiness, so it was perfect for me.
Of course, as with other seasons, there's something about Sookie that every dude can't ignore, and it really doesn't make sense, but you just pretend it does. The cliffhanger at the end of the season shows what's to come, and honestly, I didn't watch beyond the fourth season for my True Blood re-watch event.

Slow Burning Suspense
I downloaded this ebook free thanks to one of the many sites I'm subscribed to, but never really have it another thought. On a whim, I decided to give it a try. I never expected to enjoy it as much as I did! It was a bit confusing in the beginning, trying to figure out who Duff and Romeo were, what their roles were, why they were important. Other than that, the suspense and uncertainty kept me on my toes - I literally spent all day at work coming up with different angles, suspects, outcomes. I couldn't wait to get home and read more. The cliffhanger at the end has me even more anxious to read the next book!

The second instalment in Angel's adventures starts off with her still onboard the Gran ship, being the Captain's concubine and Jason's lover. She is very good at compartmentalising her life and will do what she can to survive. An opportunity arises that could equal both her and Jason's escape, but things go wrong and she ends up alone, trying to understand her feelings and wondering what to do next.
This is once again very well-written, full of action, intense, and with some amazing steamy scenes. It does end on a cliffhanger and you will be left definitely wanting more. Recommended!
