I’ll be honest: my heart sank when I saw this book and realised there were 619 pages. By halfway through, I couldn’t believe that there were only 619 pages - I needed more!
The world building in this is immense and impressive - like Game of Thrones with more magic (I am in no way comparing storylines here!!).
I don’t know what I can say without giving too much away, so here goes. Each chapter is from a different characters viewpoint: Nahri, Ali, Darra (yes, he did ‘kind of’ die, but he’s back. Boy, is he back!), and we learn a lot more of the hatred between the Daevas and Geziris.
I honestly cannot wait for the third book to see how this will all pan out, because that ending is one heck of a cliffhanger!

I could not put this book down!!

From the start I was hooked on Lindsay’s story and needed to know what would happen next. There were enough secrets and intrigue to keep you guessing and wondering throughout the book Not just the identity of the boys from the video, but how Lindsay would react to each new situation, what secrets were being kept by who and why, how will this all end, and most importantly who can we trust.

The book was well written, however it is the first book in a trilogy so it does end with a cliffhanger. I could not wait to start book two (A Harmless Little Ruse) particularly as it was told from Drew’s perspective.

I would definitely recommend this book however it is only suitable for mature readers.

Wow, am I glad this this is a complete series. The ending is a cliffhanger so I have already downloaded the final book but thought I would quickly review before reading it.

The story really continues to grow in this book with both Elder and Pim being honest about their lives and feelings.

There are some emotional scenes in this book and one in particular made me cry, this is very rare, I am not a crier.

I still can not recommend this series enough, once you get past the darker content, mainly book one, then it is truly amazing. I love the way both characters are so really with faults and problems and stuff to deal with, however they try to see past that to each other.

Another great holiday read

Another great holiday read, this ones even more darker...
I love how this one jumps from present and 1997 a case Roy once worked on but never got solved! The killer is back again..
we also get a personal insight into Roy and Sandy ‘s relationship, I was always under the impression their relationship was perfect but this series shows another side to sandy.

This book is noticeably longer than the other 5 before it, which gives it chance to go in-depth with the past and present, with it making you guess who done it with quite a few suspects.

And last the endings sort of on a cliffhanger with ‘yac’ When will he make and appearance next...

And now onto the next one

This was my first book by Max Henry but I've clearly been hooked!? LOVED this book! Not your typical love story... with everything from MC bikers to Cuban drug lords and murder. A dark read, with a few scenes that were tough to read.. abuse, pain, loss... so much packed into this story. There is also a beautiful love story in there... King comes from a good place, educated and with a loving hard-working family. He and Elena clearly have an intense connection and he wants nothing more than to save her without destroying his place in his MC. Watching the two of them struggle through was torture and that cliffhanger ending!? Oh, I will SURELY be back for the rest of this story - can't wait!! Highly recommended!!

I fell in love with King & Elena's story in Unrequited and had been left on a killer cliffhanger!? Dove right in, dying to find out the rest of this incredible story. Elena is back in the hands of her psychotic husband Carlos, while left waiting for King to save her and their future. King is trying to make his way back to her while attempting to sort out Club business and gain that VP patch. He has to find a balance and otherwise he'll never be able to keep her... As in the first book, there is a ton going on in this series!? This book tore my heart out and kept me on the edge of my seat from page one... didn't want to put it down!? HIGHLY recommended book, series & author!!!

Synopsis does not do it justice!
I find the synopsis for this book does not do it justice - the storyline is a complicated maze of heres and theres, whats and whys, betrayals and secrets. There is an ever-changing narrative that happens in such a fluid way - it's hard to explain but thoroughly enjoyable - there is just so much more to the story then the synopsis leads you to believe. The author does an absolutely exquisite job of painting the picture of another world. Her descriptive writing style truly allows the reader to feel as though they are right there in the story with the characters. While this book does not end on a cliffhanger per-say, it does end on a note that leaves you yearning for more.

Over Raging Tides (Lady Pirates, #1) by Jennifer Ellision
Over Raging Tides is the first book in the Lady Pirates series, and going by this one, I can't wait to continue with this series. Grace has been a pirate since the age of seven, and is now Quartermaster and First Mate of Lady Luck, a pirate ship with an all-female crew. There is rivalry between her and Celia, the other woman who wanted the Quartermaster role. Grace's mother was taken from her when she was younger, by creatures of the sea that aren't friendly! Everyone presumes she is dead, including her love, the Captain of the ship. Things get interesting when Grace rescues two brothers from the Mordgris and brings them on-board. Her life changes and she sees things she never saw before.

This story was amazing and gripped me from the very start. The world building is amazing, and rich in history. The characters are well developed, although obviously some are more than others. One of my favourite characters is Sam, and I can't wait to see what she will do next. There were no editing or grammatical errors that disrupted my reading flow, and the pacing was very smooth.

One word for you though - cliffhanger! This is the first book in the series so it does end with one almighty cliffhanger that will leave you wanting book two immediately. Unfortunately for me, it's not actually released yet, so I will have to wait oh-so-patiently!

For a clean, nautical adventure, with magic, mayhem, and a good dosing of rum, then I can highly recommend this book! Another corker by Jennifer Ellision.

Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
1980 | Fantasy, Sci-Fi

"Absolutely blown away by the world of Star Wars, Empire and Jedis. [But] my favorite moment of the three is actually in The Return of the Jedi. And I argue this with people who are real Star Wars freaks. “Ewoks ruin the movie.” If you’re going to trifle over Ewoks, and you’re not going to talk about how great the speeder bike scenes through the redwood forests are, then f–k off. Those are some of the greatest action sequences… Okay, yeah, there’s some cute critters to sell merchandise. [But there’s] some [scenes] that I couldn’t even dream up with these unbelievable hovercrafts and modern-looking Stormtrooopers. And Jedi has the best moment. [It’s] at the very end when the Emperor is trying to pull Luke over and, of course, Luke is getting the s–t kicked out of him and getting electricity blown at him. And Luke finally takes his lightsaber and throws it aside and says, “No. I’ll never join you. I’m a Jedi like my father before me.” And the Emperor says, “So be it…Jedi.” And it was the fact that the f–king devil himself gave Luke props and called him by [who] he was. It empowered him. That always gets by people, but that’s my stand-out moment. But Empire, when that movie ended in a cliffhanger, my life was a cliffhanger. Until the next one came out, you couldn’t talk to me, you couldn’t talk to me, dude. I was hanging out with my Ungnaught action figures. Everything in my life went back to, “What do you think is going to happen next to Han Solo?” I promise you, you talk to my family and they will go, “Dane was bananas.”"

LOWER WORLD is the second book in the Infernal Regions for the Unprepared series and remember how I said the first one wasn't too fast-paced? Yeah, well, we're back to the crazy and frantic pace Maya Daniels is known for!

Don't get me wrong, it is still smoking-hot, and I love how Ms Daniels drags you along into her story, but for me, it just lost a bit of 'something' in the pace. Brooklyn and Dominic are heating up and the trust is building, but with all the action going on, I felt like I missed part of that. Alice is a cracker, as always, and I am loving her role in this.

Now, I was warned about the ending of this book, so I was expecting something. Usually, I end up throwing my Kindle away in disgust at the typical cliffhanger endings, but this time, this time I was okay with it. Maybe it's because I was warned, or maybe it's because although I know Brooklyn is in danger, she is too tough to go down easy, PLUS she has her crew coming for her. And then there is the whole question mark about her mum. So, yeah, cliffhanger but one I'm happy with.

I am still loving this series, and can't wait to see where it goes next. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go and lie down, get my heart rate down, and be ready to start the world at a normal pace, not superspeed!
