Molly J (Cover To Cover Cafe) (106 KP) rated Seasons of an Amish Garden in Books
Feb 27, 2019
This is a collection of four novellas. These novellas feature the characters from her novella in An Amish Love collection. Each story here brings us a different season, in which the garden that is planted will grow. Each story, each season, brings something new to the book, taking the reader on a whirl wind ride of love, hope, fun, and memories.
The characters that Clipston brings us back to, all feel like coming home to family. They are chiseled perfectly, their emotions radiating right off the pages. My personal favorite from this collection is Home By Summer, which is following Clara Hertzler and Jerry Petersheim. I loved the message woven into this particular story. Understanding, hope, and most of all, renewed faith in the Lord above. I felt so refreshed after reading their story!
Anything less than 4 stars for this captivating read, would be injustice. The pages of this book will pull you in, have you up late into the night, making new friends, and enjoying time with old friends. If you are looking for a book that will refresh your mind, your soul, and take you through the seasons of life, then grab a copy now. You will not be sorry, and if you’re new to Amy Clipston’s work, you’ll be a new fan, instantly! Amy Clipston, hats off to you, once again, for another collection of heartwarming stories that I won’t soon forget!
*I received a complimentary copy of this book from Booklook Blogger Program and was under no obligation to post a review, positive or negative.*

Kyera (8 KP) rated The Extraordinary Cases of Sherlock Holmes in Books
Feb 1, 2018
Doyle paints a narrative through the eyes of Holmes' companion, Dr. Watson and makes the tale more accessible to the average reader. Holmes' sharp mannerisms and lofty thoughts would not be as intriguing if Watson's nobler sentiments and smoothing words did not soften him. Each mystery slowly unfolds before the reader's eyes and if their powers of deduction are keen, they may even discover some clues or Holmes' motives before they're expressly detailed.
The adventures of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson were beloved in their time and are now classics for a reason. This is a wonderful collection of stories and highly recommended to fans of detective stories, classic novels, or have never read a story about Sherlock Holmes before and wish to give them a shot. (You won't be disappointed.)

Ross (3284 KP) rated Deadpool Classic Volume 1 in Books
Aug 20, 2018
The final issue is the start of Joe Kelly's tenure as Deadpool writer. Here the banter and 4th wall breaking is turned up a notch and Deadpool starts to feel better defined, albeit still in dire need of a decent enemy to face. However the artwork doesn't quite sit right with me, its all a bit too quirky and cartoony (big hands and faces and every other character has a cigar between his teeth). And adding this one issue into this collection just seems odd, as Deadpool as a character is very different to the previous stories, has a completely different setup and technology and just doesn't fit in at all.
I really enjoyed the stories 'Dogs Go Wolf' where two young girls are abandoned on an island and left to fend for themselves; 'Eyewall', where a woman decides to stay in her home during a hurricane (which I hope never to experience!); 'Above and Below' which tells the story of a young woman who fails her course at university, leaves and becomes homeless. This last story was frankly frightening, as it portrayed how easy it is to become homeless, how little support there is, and how people can become estranged from their families.
A really good collection.

Roxanne (13 KP) rated Black Roses: The Killing of Sophie Lancaster in Books

This is a beautiful collection, handled in a very sensitive way, I hope for this to reach more people as things need to change.
Rest in peace beautiful Sophie.

Merissa (13040 KP) rated Journey to the Dark Goddess: How to Return to Your Soul in Books
Dec 17, 2018
I have made my own descent many times, the first one that I am conscious of was 10 years ago. This book helped me to understand things that I had only touched the surface of. It centers mainly around the Sumerian Goddess Inanna and the Greek Goddesses Persephone and Psyche, although other Dark Goddesses are mentioned. The books contains preparations, meditations and rituals to help you work through your journey.
A wonderful book to add to your collection that you will want to read again.
