A little bit love story, a lotta bit action, a shirtless Jason Momoa. A decent story with great cinematography. I love oceanscapes so I was happy with the vibrant marine life and colors. (0 more)
Enlightens us to the horrible truth about oceanic pollution, a predictable ending and overdone story baseline. (0 more)
One of the better DC movies as of late

"Cinematic candy. You want to eat, sing, and dance in the Carnival of Rio de Janeiro. The colors and fabrics, the language and music and people and culture, are all so vibrant and beautiful. The story is a retelling of the Greek tale of Orpheus and Eurydice, done with such beauty and imagination. This is one for the ages"

"There were a number of key films that taught me that great and startling cinema could come from outside Europe and away from Hollywood. I found Touki bouki (with its anarchic, vigorous style, brilliant colors and sounds, and charismatic heroine) completely surprising when I first saw it—and, more generally, it stands for the eye-opening cinema of Senegal."
