Snakes in Space was very engaging! I loved the bright vibrant colors combined with the stark contrasts used between the words and the images on the pages to give great visuals that kids will love. The verbiage used to convey the story was easy to understand and had some repetitive qualities that kids can remember too! The storyline was fun and explained a great overview of going into space and coming back on a spaceship. Plus, Kathryn Dennis (who is the author and illustrator) did a great job using the illustrations to convey movement and engagement with the kids through different design elements. This is her newest book in the series, and I LOVE it and cannot wait to read more books from her. Truly one of the best children’s books I have read in a while.

"Next to The Wizard of Oz, it’s my favorite movie of all time. The most honest on-screen depiction of mental illness ever. Cassavetes perfectly nails the heartbreak and frustration that eclipses a family when a loved one’s sanity slips away. It’s at times both gut-wrenching and oddly hilarious, and Cassavetes manages to make gorgeous cinema with colors and composition. Besides the impeccable, monumental performances of Gena Rowlands and Peter Falk, the supporting cast is flawless, including both Cassavetes’s and Rowlands’s own real-life mothers, Katherine and Lady, and in particular George Dunn in his role as Mabel’s one-night stand Garson Cross. In any other film the character would be played as a cad the audience would be rooting against. Not so in a Cassavetes film, where the roles of hero and villain shift moment to moment."

"I’ve really genuinely loved every one of Spike [Jonze’s] movies from [Being John] Malkovich to Adaptation to Where the Wild Things Are, also. But I thought Her still had, like, the fun humorous stuff but was, for me, such a great movie to encapsulate what it’s like to have the hangover of a breakup that just won’t go away. And also I think it’s probably the most realistic version of where we’re heading with technology and our relationship with technology, as we delve further into ourselves and out of public interaction. How we still need and want human interaction. And I just think he handles both of them so beautifully. And I love the way he shoots his movies, I love the colors he uses. I just love Joaquin Phoenix’s shirt in that movie. I was less concerned with the pants."
