Color by Kristin is an awesome knitting book, great for knitters who love to design their own projects. My realm is free-forming to create patterns, so flipping through this book was a lot of fun and very inspiring. I have a passion for color, and this book made my mouth water and my fingers twitch.

There are 25+ patterns—very colorful patterns—and a variety of graphs in the back for creating your own variations. The patterns range from very beginner to advanced, but they all have similarities: using graphs, embroidery, and several colors to create beautiful knits. There are mittens, socks, hats, scarves, shawls and wraps, pillows, sweaters, ottomans… the list goes on and on.

In the back is a "designer sourcebook" full of ideas for color changing, stitch patterns, color mixing, edges and trim, and of course graphs galore. The graphs are sorted by how many stitches your project has to have: several graphs for multiples of 2 stitches all the way up to multiples of 30.

If you love color, love fair isle, or love creating your own unique knits, this is the ideal book for you.

The Castles of Burgundy Review
I was somewhat disappointed with the components of this game. While the price point isn’t very high, the game still feels a little cheaply made. For most people, the main complaint with The Castles of Burgundy is the player mats. They seem to be made of a light card stock, rather than standard cardboard. They feel quite flimsily and seem like they could tear or bend fairly easily. The artwork for this game is also somewhat bland. The colors have a little bit of low-saturation feel to them and the artwork is not particularly impressive. I would like to note that you do get a lot of tokens with this game. There are about 164 hex tokens that will be used in the game, a handful of dice and some other miscellaneous tokens. This does make setup a bit of a chore, as there is a lot to keep organized. I’d recommend one of those plano storage boxes if you are going to play this game a lot.

I wish the two dice were colored more distinct colors. They are an off white and a really light tan and it makes it hard to tell them apart. (0 more)
This game is really unique. I enjoy deck builders and dice games and this combines the two. Instead of building a deck of cards, however, you are altering the faces of a pair of dice to accumulate resources and take actions. I like that you gather resources on all players' turns because it allows you to have enough to do on your turn. This is a competitive game, however there is little you can do that will really hinder anther player's game play. There are some "attacks" but they are more little setbacks for the other player rather than total game changers. Overall, I think this is a really fun game. It takes a little playing before you get the hang of how to change the die faces, but it is really pretty easy once you get it together. I also like the fact that it is a fast game. Since all players are rolling during all the turns, you aren't really waiting for your turn, which is nice.

A cute and simple game, good for kids, interesting enough for adults to play with them
This is a fun little light game. You roll some dice, and then go around the table selecting the one that works best for your blue print and your building as you are building it. It's a small box so it can easily travel in a purse and be played at a pub while having pints of beer. Or take to the nephews house and play while having adult conversations. It has enough light interesting strategic choices to be for adults, and yet this would be great for kids to take on strategic choices that aren't intimidating. The choice is picking a color and a number die, the colors interact with the building a get points different ways, and the number is not only the value, but also the level, so you can't put a bigger number on top of a smaller number. You can play a few rounds in a half hour.

A masterpiece
After rewatching this David Lean masterpiece last night, it reaffirmed my view it is truly epic and one of the greatest films of all time.

When a British regiment is captures in 1943 and imprisoned in a Japanese labor camp, it is a battle of wills between the British commander and the Japanese camp tyrant. After a lengthy standoff, it is decided the British officer will be in charge of rebuilding the faulty bridge which had been begun earlier in a better location with a more stable foundation.

Meanwhile an American solider escapes, is rescued and ordered to return to the same camp to aide the British soldiers in destroying the bridge before it can be used.

The cinematography is glorious and the film never looked so beautiful on my 65" 4K TV. The colors were vivid and the atmospheres stunning, epic and mesmerizing.

Alec Guinness and William Holden are two of my favorites and these are the best roles of their career.

Take a moment (or 2 hours and 40 minutes) and give yourself the pleasure of watching this.
